When Harry Morgan trained Dexter, he left him with a code to abide by. For the most part, Dexter follows Harry’s advice, but he’s also deviated from time to time - here’s a look back at those times. All episodes are now streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime.

I never considered Dexter killing Camilla as a Code violation. To me, it was neither a Code kill or a non-Code kill, it was just a mercy that she begged for.

The time Dexter rage killed some guy in a public bathroom was shocking. Not the event itself, but that Dexter never even seemed to internalize it. Spooky!

You kinda hope he'd run a background check and found the guy was guilty, but yeah, they could've shown more. Also, I have same issue with Farrow: giving up and saying 'an innocent man' is a bit out of character and Farrow is suspicious as all hell, seems at the very least like an accomplice.
@Megacliff
@Megacliff 13 күн бұрын
@@PictureProductStudio That Dexter never really faced serious moral decisions or compromises became the weakest part of the series. Over time, it seems the showrunners lacked the faith to make Dexter have to be a bad person in some viewer's eyes, and the drama became stale imo. That said, I loved Dexter the first time. I wasn't even mad about the ending. Now I'm a bit older and see a lot of flaws we could discuss, but I guess what I'm saying is that Farrow being shady as all hell is what made the show less fun.

I think Dexter was an fascinating character to get to hear his inner monologuing about why he does what he did. I agree the code aspect definitely made him more easy to "Defend or root for" but the show definitely didn't become bad just cause that one element of his character was abandoned for a while. He grew and changed as his double life began to effect the other.

Not really but he did bend it pretty far that the lines are a bit blurred, he fits the code of being a Killer (Killing 5 people in boat crash on purpose) he was pretty unhinged & it was most likely only a matter of time before he did something else drastic; where dexter acted outside of the code is him not fully vetting his target & acting to hastily on impulse & emotion. (Whacking him in the head) While the kill isn’t fully up to standard of the code he didn’t fully act against it as Kurt’s son was no where near innocent and his arrogant entitled behaviour was a heavy indicator of how the character operates, it was only a matter of time before he got “drunk” again & get other people hurt intentionally or not, as seen with him brazenly shooting a White buck with no regard to the human in his sights; killing a white buck is one thing but there could’ve been anyone petting the deer & a little misstep would’ve resulted in the shooting and possible death of an innocent. While he may not have completely fit the code, his attitude towards life & prior offences fits him into Garbage accepted by the code, no matter what he did Daddy was always going to bail him out, He thought he was untouchable & intimidated people who didn’t cater to his every desire; He was never going to Learn & eventually he’d just end up getting more innocents killed. If he was fully vetted maybe Dexter could’ve figured out about his titanium rods & if he was calculated and prepped he could’ve had an airtight kill room/no trace & a proper method of Body disposal rather than rushing to the first thing to dispose of the evidence; other than that he acted within the parameters of the code if he only followed it to the letter then perhaps he would’ve been able to stay true to the first rule “Don’t Get Caught”
