The stomach is a soft spot that vulnerable. Even if you have a strong core all it takes is a sufficient strike to the stomach to at least make someone gag. If you go up higher to just above the stomach entering the rib area you also have your solar plexus. Which, when struck, will knock the breath out of you. Not to mention is very painful. So, in her real, the stomach area is a good aim spot. (I’m a former martial arts student lol.)

One solid gut strike leaves most gasping for air so even if they don’t gag it’s going to leave them out of balance with their techniques and make it difficult for them to fight. It’s a prime target in reality.
