They were the fastest qualifiers and favorites to win, however, mechanical failures and/or luck culminated the Toyota challenge.

I have to say, still one of the prettiest race cars I’ve ever seen, very Group C like
@etshArk873 жыл бұрын
indeed prettiest race. I think the Toyota TS-020 or better called GT-one looks like a Group C having sex with a prototype class. What a beast. Too bad it never won first place in the Circuit de la Sarthe, they were faster than anything else back then.
@nathanstroud2223 Жыл бұрын
When the GT-One made its debut, commentators said it reminded them of a Group C prototype because their frame of reference forced them to compare it to cars of the past. I didn't discover this car until I saw it in Gran Turismo 3 a few years later. I always thought it looked like a direct competitor to the then-current LMP cars circa 2003 (Bentley Speed 8, Audi R8, Pescarolo, etc.), so I was kind of perplexed to find out it was originally conceived of as a production-based GT car several years prior. I initially thought GT-One was just a hype name for a race car that wasn't necessarily meant to denote the class it competed in, because it was obviously a pure-bred Le Mans Prototype from the start, right?

Every year I have been there, it was a awesome experience with great help from the english spectators.. one year they had a gigantic camp across the main road just by the start/finish, nex to the airfield. Really nice spot... music, a big grill with wieners and a refrigerated truck. It was really something. Since all the other campers also came in outrageous cars, and had to go by this 1-lane road to get to the infield of the circuit, the english set up a kinda checkpoint. So that people could cross the road firstly, take pictures of the beautiful cars.. but also they splashed water on the road, and anyone they encourage would do massive burnouts. My brother wanted to go to the souvenir shops and amusements, so we only stayed for about an hour. Too bad that you can't show photos in comments. Can only imagine all the other cars that they egged on to go wild..
