But really, the unique building chain for Vlad and Isabella is really a HUGE buff to their faction. Having access to additional vampire heroes early on, instead of waiting for Tier 4, is an incredible boost to a faction that is all about hero Squads and magic users doing the damage while the zombies soak damage.

While i agree that Vlad the Dad deserves the top slot, im surprised that you didnt mention his 100 xp per turn skill. That thing alone could turn a newly recuited stack into an elite one faster than anyone else

Ghorst has the worst mount?? I would strongly disagree and say you might want to review this. Ghorst is the most underrated lord imo and his mount has the crazy mortis engine like effect of damaging all nearby enemies. I aggree that buffing carts etc is useless but Ghorst himself especially mounted is crazy op. Look at his unique skiline :)

I actually find that Kemmler's position isn't so bad if you know what to do. Bretonnia (at least in my experience) is very passive, save for Couronne. If you take Couronne out I find Bretonnia generally doesn't do much and it allows you to consolidate effectively. As for Reikland I've found that if you take the two mountain pass forts (forget their names) the Empire has a much harder time making inroads to your territory. Conversely, taking on the empire from the East side is a lot easier than it is from Mannfred or Vlad's position on the west. For Mannfred you have to take a lot of territory and many forts that you have to make your way through before you can take Altdorf. (which is a big help for the VC since it boosts your economy and you can build a landmark building that builds diplomatic relations with the empire.)

I actually like Kemmler because he can move freely in territory controlled by living foes without attrition - I never start with him though. I prefer to confederate with him and use him as a supporting lord.

Isabella is gets a flying mount early and if you bring a bunch of flying Vamps, bats (which get +ap damage for Isa only) and Vagheists/Knights you can crash into enemies with Vlad and flank with Izzy.

You gotta remember that corpse carts are not offensive units. In the early game, a corpse cart is much, much more useful than another unit of zombies or skeletons! I used to feel the same way about Luminarks due to their slow attack speed.... once I placed them where their ward save helps the main battle line I realised that they can turn a battle! Same with crap carts!

It is quite hard to rank the Vampire Count legendary lords because they are so similar. I really like Heinrich, just because his starting position is so different. 4th is probably fair though. When it comes to the Von Carsteins, I think I prefer Isabella as a faction leader, but Vlad as the main lord to battle with. How do you order that kind of preference? The only total war campaign I've ever played where I was annihilated was Kemmler. The Empire declared war on me early and I couldn't get out from behind the eight ball. It was all over in about 50 turns. Needless to say, I tried again and curb-stomped the order tide. Isabella is No 1 imo, because of her buffs to vampire heroes. I vampire hero doomstacked with her early and was absolutely unbeatable... plus you still get Vlad. Downside to Vlad is no mount options. He should be No 2.

Gotta stress that Vlad's two best abilities are universal Vanguard, which is absolutely nuts on a faction that always wants to get into melee because it has no ranged units, and passive XP generation, which makes Vlad's early/mid game a complete cake walk.

Ghorst is surprisingly toptier in his own way for me. As the poison for all the army is great for skeleton spam cheese. With corpse cart regen and then spawn of manfred together with that. Best to start manfred and recruit ghorst immediatly

I think Isabella is over the top of Vlad. Most of Vlad's buffs are too his army. Which you can get turn 2 as Isabella. Isabella buffs all heroes and starts with 2 additional Vampire Hero units that you ignored. And as much as you don't like hero spam, extra vampires is still a really good investment for armies. Even if you just give each lore 2+ 1 Necromancer you'll get a lot more done with Better vampire heroes, since they can also add more magic to make up for a lack of ranged the army has

I would also pick ghorst in last place but he is actually not as bad as he seems. I was surprised when I tried him out properly, he's very solid, just the other lords are better. All VC lords are pretty strong.

Start as Isabella and then recruit Vlad straight away. You lose the movement buff but get a bunch of Vampire heroes to wreck Mannfred.

I am a great VC fan and played all their factions in the original game and in ME. My ranking is a little different: Ghorst is last for me too, but not because he is weak, his mount is awesome, but he's just not as good as the rest. Fourth is Vlad, because his faction buff is the most boring one, and no reason to pick him starting out, because Isabella's buff is vastly superior, as I will explain later. Third Kemmler because his ability to not get any attrition damage is great, and his campaign, even if he starts in a bad position, is fun to play. Second is Mannfred, which is the easiest to play Vamp lord, even if his faction buffs are similar to Vlad's, just a little better, but his campaign starting position is easier to handle. First is Isabella, because her faction buff is the best in the long term for Von Carsteins, 25% damage buff and +3 capacity for Vamps is great, considering their unique faction building is also buffing vampires, so it seems like the obvious choice between her and Vlad. Also having more vampires, which are great assassins, helps you get more blood kisses faster. That is my own personal ranking, and now after writing this its time to start a new playthrough with Isabella xD .

Regarding myself, while I agree that I have a bad starting position, but i get 100% discount on necromancers with the blood kisses. Spamming level 4 Necromancers early and maxing out steal tech + specialist + magic find, gives you +35% tech per necromancer every 3 turns. ( And we all know VCounts needs that research rush) Finally recently I discovered you can actually use the Greenskins to your advantage, so you can wipe out Brettonia quickly and build up to deal with Reikland. ( But we all know they need a nerf, their infantry is getting super buffed on melee stats making them better than dwarfs... But ok ) So i deserve second place.

The corpse cart isnt useless, it buffs your units. And you can raise dead with it in the Hellman faction. The Red Duke killed Couronne in most of my campagnes, so.....he is a strong ally.

Campaign wise My rank would be: Isabella, Heinrich, Ghorst, Vlad, Mannfred Battle wise, it'd be : Vlad, Isabella, Mannfred, Heinrich, Ghorst 0:45 I see what you did there *stares intensely* I disagree with your acessment regarding Ghorst, because Master Necromancers like Ghorst are supposed to be support armies to the vampires. Using a stack of skeletons to exhaust the enemy while the main army works. In Ghorst's case, making corpse carts and mortis engines summon zombies, makes you save winds on raise dead. ( so u can raise grave guard instead ) At the same time going 6 / 6 carts and engines gives you lots of magic to use with Mannfred. In my opinion, Ghorst is supposed to be used together with Mannfred, like Isabella is supposed to be used with Vlad all the time.

Personally i would put both Vlad and Mandfred at #1 and most definately would not put anyone but Vlad above Manny. His -15% upkeed for Grave guard alongside the bloodknight bloodline dudes (can't remember the bloodline name) who can get -40% graveguard upkeep is incredibly good. Especially for a faction that has insanely expensive buildings, crap growth and shit economy. Sylvania castles being yours in the first 5 turns of the game is also allowing you to sustain those early grave guard. On top fo that Mandfred also has insane flexibility in terms of magic and is decent combatant. I think Manfred biggest downside is the levels he needs to start shining.

Corpse carts and Mortis shrines are usefull and if they have a summon, hell can you do some crazy stuff! Buuuut, that provides that you know what you do. 20% research and replenishment is also just so potent!

I really have to disagree on Ghorst being the weakest one. Yes the army buffs are rather lackluster but he is by far the best wind of death turret in the vampire faction. Also, his special corpsecart is a mortis engine on crack. I usually get thousands of kills just with him.

Im very curious as to how ca will approach neferata. I fear that ca will just make her just a better Isabella, since lore wise it would make sense for neferata to buff vampire heroes. I think ca should make her an ungodly good vampire lore caster. I know isabella is a vampire lore caster as well, but she more so focuses on buffing up monsters, so this would make a keen difference in each of their playstyles. Still though, neferata at that point would just feel like Isabella 2.0. How do you guys (and of course colonel) think ca will handle neferata in game 3?

I’m new to war hammer, just bought my pc last week, and I’ve chosen Manfred before even watching this video and I’m looking stuff up cause I’m having some trouble, by around turn 30 or 40 the empire seems to obtain end game armies and they have like 5 or 6 clumped up and running around, I’ve played like 3 times and lost and the last time I sat and mustered 3 armies with everything except the final tier troops, I use zombies for the front line and grave guard as the heart of my forces, with the blue beefy flying things to take on the ranged units, and necromancer in there as well and his summoning of zombies works wonders, and I had all 3 of my armies looking great, then the empire comes in with a bunch of armies and they can just effortlessly decisive victory me every time, they bring too many units of too high quality meanwhile I’m barely affording my 3 armies and losing money while still being outnumbered and outgunned literally, what do I do? Am I playing wrong? I dominate early cause of the raise dead ability they have but the empire is so overpowering and overwhelming, I get crushed and it’s off putting considering how good I felt with the army I had last time, I thought I was doing great and had some good stuff but I might as well have just not had an army at all with how easy they ran me over

I see no reason why Vlad would beat Isabella other than your own aversion to cheese. Because extra vampires is significantly better than anything that Vlad brings to the table.

Huge disagree with ghorst 5th.... corpse carts should be in every army. Them being able to spawn a squad of zombies is HUGE. 20% casualty replenishment is also HUGE as it can be stacked even further to where your armies replenish in one turn.

Dude, have you actually played ghorst? he is fucking OP. His poison to all his army plus the best mount in the vc faction (can easily reach 9k HP in a fucking mortis engine) and the insane casualty replenishment early on can make you steamroll the fuck out of the empire before they get the hellstorm rockets. Best VC legendary lord in my opinion.

Vampire waifu deserves number 1 because you can get vampire spam ( not to stack on the army, it's to kill heroes with) at level 4 like myself with Necromancers. Instead of rushing tech, you rush blood kisses, to get those much needed bonuses for the faction. Vlad deserves last place, and Mannfred deserves 4th, with Ghorst on third, because Vlad can be recruited turn 2 (playing as isabella), and his bonuses are questionably useless, and his starting units are too expensive for the early game. I agree with Mannfred's points but not the rank.

Mannfred is usually a better choice than isabella for all but some very niche army compositions.
