Kinda weird everybody wouldn't pick appraisal and healing. Appraisal can identify illness, weaknesses, strengths, and other properties (incredibly useful for every possible activity). Healing is sort of a no brainer: nobody with a brain hates the guy whose job is to save your life, regrow limbs, or even raise you from the dead. Pretty handy to be able to heal yourself from almost anything, too.

Yes and no. He was kicked out, and at least given a decent amount of money. Still shows a dark side of the kingdom if the King just summons random people to do his bidding and throws away those not "good enough". Also curious the other "hero's" don't seem to question why one them just "disappears" after being undesirable. Not every one ripped out their life was a loner with no real attachments after all.

The Xp gain is honestly less important than picking his skills wisely. It seems like most people get assigned skills automatically (possibly based upon their actions, and some what luck). Crafting a build by choice is always the better option. The walking thing apparently also gets nerfed hard in later chapters with a Level cap, aka no more growth.

The light novel for this story is really good too. Also, it only takes like 100 chapters for Sora to reach level 100, and then his level stops going up (and so he kinda loses interest in the walking skill). At that point, the story completely focuses on taking care of Sora's harem. Finally, I should mention that Sora actually seems to get a little less dense as the story goes on, but he is still as dense as steel.

The only thing I'd be worried about with a skill like this is the typical scaling of required exp for higher levels. Great that a few miles levels you to 6, but by the time you need 1m exp per level, things going to be kinda slow....
