Toni and I are slowly making our way back to Southern California after an incredibly fun string of shows with our friends Josh Turner and Carson McKee. We stopped at a cabin near Mt. Hood in Oregon to shoot this little stripped down cover of Tears for Fear's 80s classic "Everybody Wants to Rule the World."

Reina del Cid is a folk singer songwriter and leader of the eponymous folk rock band based in Los Angeles and Minnesota. Reina del Cid discovers new music, covers classic, americana, folk, traditional folk, and folk rock music, and shares her own original music every week. Her song-a-week video series, Sunday Mornings with Reina del Cid, has amassed a devoted and diverse following made up of everyone from jamheads to college students to white-haired intelligentsia. In 2011 she began collaborating with Toni Lindgren, who is the lead guitarist on all three of Del Cid’s albums, as well as a frequent and much beloved guest on the Sunday Morning videos. When I was about 5 years old I remember my mom was driving a VW bug and this song came on the radio, it captivated me and is still my favorite song.

This was a big hit in uk in the 80s. I grew up in the 80s with this type of music..40 years later I’ve learnt to appreciate it. The Annie Lennox song was really great too..❤️

its amazing how, i've heard this song over and over, the chorus mostly on commercials, tv shows, movies, the radio, this song must be like 30 years old, its been in my face thousands of times, i've even sung along BUT I never truly experienced it organically on my own, Until Just Now. something about the fact you are choosing to record it Today, 30+ years later brings something significant and now its like im hearing this song for the first time, now I know how awesome the lyrics, guitar, mood, emotion how powerful this song really is, its an anthem i need in my life right now and im saving it to a playlist and really i just cant wait to listen to the lyrics again. amazing song, thanks!

Always loved this song. It’s unorthodox and original. And the movie Real Genius where they put a giant Jifffy Pop in William Atherton’s house and use the laser to destroy it with popcorn.

Child of the 80s here. I really enjoy how you are embracing more and more songs from that decade. Your version of "Don't dream it's over" was an absolute blast. Considering how much electronics, synths and advanced production techniques were in use back then, doing this with two guitars only might not seem a very obvious choice, but you pulled it off perfectly. This is a testiment to your level of musicianship. I love what you do. Keep going! Grettings from Germany!
