Everyday Planner 2023 - how it's going (not so well!)

I really thought I would love this as my everyday planner but it's just not working for me. I thought I would talk you through what's working and what's not working and try again to make it work.
A6 is just my favourite size, and I think perfect for journaling, but I'm just not sure for my everyday planner.
So join me to go through the good and the bad and to see what we can come up with.

@@desleyjaneplans i just an A6 stalogy today and im going to use that as my daily planner to put home school timetable in appointments and such in, hobo for my handbag and b6 as my private journal.

I had all intentions of making my A6 “pretty” this year but I find I just don’t have the time, so I now do a 5 minute brain dump before bed to get my to do lists, appointments and occasionally a bit of gratitude journaling done.

Yep same. I think that’s one of the reasons it’s not working for me. I feel like I need to decorate it even though I know I don’t have to.

I find, when I'm stuck, it helps to 'plan with friends'. It feels like forever since I tuned in for one of your planning vids - I've been working like a maniac and all of my old routines were thrown out (much like your holiday). Glad to be back. Good luck with your cleaning.

Thank you for tuning in! Planning with friends is always a good idea 🥰 I actually did do that a few days after I filmed this video and we chatted about all the different ways to plan. Working like a maniac sounds sadly familiar. I’m also waking up in the middle of the night thinking about work (it’s 341am right now). Hopefully things settle down for both of us soon. PS the cleaning is not going well 😅

I find weekly layouts work better for me to keep me on task and also makes it easier for me to get ready for the week and set myself up since it’s all in one place. I add a daily or sticky notes or tipins if I need more space. But generally it’s enough space for me to plan, document to-dos and also put little reminders for when I journal later. Have you thought about trying the weekly supplement or a weekly planner instead? I find dailies to be too much without a weekly to ground me. They are great to tackle and document that day but I need the weekly as a sort of start point with the main stuff there. And then if I’m too busy and can’t get to a daily I still have that hub area of the weekly to keep me sane.

Ah thank you. Me too. I should have mentioned for my new viewers that I’ve been in a Cousin for the last 3 years but switched A6 this year because I love the size and really wanted to be better at daily planning. This A6 still isn’t working so I’m moving into a Weeks, which has also worked well for me in the past. I did think about the weekly supplement but I think if I had that I wouldn’t touch the Techo anyway. I’m obviously a weekly girl too, so I’ll be repurposing this lovely little book soon. Thanks so much for your comment, it’s so nice to hear from people who have tried different things as well and I love getting new ideas to try in my planners and journals 💕

I was just going to say that I just bought the cousin this year and I have found that I’m not really using the monthly or daily but the weekly has me absolutely hooked! I think I’ll eventually spread out into the others but I have found planner peace and it may be what you are missing in the A6..

Thanks. I have a Cousin as well for memory keeping and I just adore it. But I wanted this to be a proper task planner. I’ve been in a Cousin for years for work but I was just trying to commit myself to being better at daily planning which hasn’t really worked the way I wanted it to. And daily planning never worked for me in the cousin either. I’ve actually moved into another weeks and it’s working out pretty well.

I feel like our journals/planners are there for when we need them. I also think sometimes life is too much so our planners go to the side and that’s ok. I still didn’t finish setting up all my planners and it’s ok. I will get there slowly. :-) You will find your way back. Like you said take your time and make time for it and you’ll get there. I’m sorry to hear about your mom. I hope all goes well.

Thank you again. Yes I agree. I’m a little sad that this size didn’t work for me but I really shouldn’t have been surprised as I have come from a Cousin last year. But it was definitely worth a try. I’be decided to move into a Weeks instead for everyday. I’m heading up to stay with my family for a few weeks soon while mum has her second operation. She is doing pretty well given the circumstances - thank you for your thoughts about her ❤️
