In that situation, you can learn Mandarin by yourself first, and watch TV series, TV shows and that things. Try to find and make some friends who speak Mandarin.

If you just speak Mandarin to them and I am sure they will reply to you in Mandarin too.

There are huge no of Mandarin teaching videos besides this 1 There are also a few Hainan dialect videos, and larger no for others--- Cantonese, Hokkien, Hakka, Shanghai, Hu (Hok)jiu, Teochew, etc. Hope these help!! Zhu ni, hao yunqi!!! PS: Does your 1st language use tones, like Chinese, etc.? Tou could teach some greetings to Chinese friends, acquaintances, and friendly strangers. Had the same issues then I realized they are just excuses... Listen over and over...Then practice..The verbertim and arrangement structure of the words will start becoming natural.... 我 Me..不 not太 very 吃 eat 辣 spices..

I guess we can agree to disagree. If it works for you then thats great but it has held me back for a year and caused me to give it up for a while. I'm not trying to learn English I desire to learn Chinese and speak and think in Chinese. I do not want to translate it to English and vice versa. thanks for the reply tho and happy learning.

She just mentioned some basic differences between 能and会. But actually these two can be replaced by each other in many cases... grammatically. This means you may hear 会 in 能 sentence, and 能 in 会 sentence very frequently in daily conversation 😥. For example in this sentence, both of the usages are correct, however, the tone of speech are slightly different. The “你能做... ？” is a normal question such as a boss ask “Can someone do this work? ”. While the “你会做...? ” has a little sense of doubt or unsatisfied. For example, if someone has screwed up this work before, his boss may not trust him and think he is not competent for this job. In this case, “你会做...? ” is more suitable 😁. But as I mentioned, it doesn't mean “你能做...? ” is wrong in the second case. As long as it in appropriate tone, it can also express the unsatisfaction of the boss even he used "能”. Don't worry, just follow the rules you learned in this video, as the rules shows in this video is 100% correct. But in fact, as a Chinese speaker, I have to say that the difference between 能 and 会 is quite tricky, which means in some cases you can use both 能 and 会 with totally the same meaning. But in other sentence you can only use one of each. And I think this is the hard point of Chinese language, you have to learn grammar, but the grammar is not always “correct”😂. The best way I think is to listen and speak as more as possible.
