I think its more the pain of knowing their captain is probably broken right now from the loss and they weren't there to help/comfort him when he has been there for them all the time. Sure aces death hit for them but what hit more was not being there for their captain when he needed counsel. Luckily jinbe was there otherwise luffy probably wouldn't have rallied.

I think the correct line was: Makino: can't u see he(Garp) is the one who suffered the most? He was right there but he couldn't help them. Dadan: no, you're wrong. The one suffered the most is Luffy. He loves his brother so much. It's broke my heart just thinking about what he has to go through right now.

Yeah and then they hit us with a flashback of when they first met. Like how Ace treated Luffy then all these memories about how he’s introduced in Alabasta. Like brooo literally learned how to speak Keigo*polite/formally FOR LUFFY. He really went and become the best big brother ever. Then when Kid Luffy asked Ace NOT to die. Like I was bawling. His death hit so much harder 😭

I think he changed during the time skip because he wasn't strong enough to be at Luffy's side when his brother died. He allowed himself and his crew to be separated from each other, leaving Luffy alone when his brother died. If Jimbe hadn't been there Luffy would have killed himself from his injuries and grief. Zoro became more serious so he would always be there for his captain and crew.

@@luisrivera6759 well, yeah but if u imagine urself as sabo, someone precious to u that u have forgotten completely then u just remembered them suddenly and knowing where u are now then feeling how many years u haven't seen them for so long, that would be the first shock to the brain and bring a few side effects to his brain like a headache or so since he got amnesia (which is a big hit injury to the front head/brain) but sabo is strong so he could take that but adding to the fact that ace's death(brings the second shock to the brain), the guilt starts to appear very small and while his brain is trying process himself of the returned memories of his precious someone and the death news, the guilt starts to manifest so huge all the way top of the chart, because all of it is smooshed together and it's too much, causing his heart beating too fast, uneasy breathing and brain sanity go out like that mentally like how luffy blacked out in marineford, like a lot of thinking but not the good one, because of that, it also causes the body physically too, in other words, high fever. I think both have it worst the most but just in a different situation and condition because they both are the only ones who blacked out from ace's death while ALL other people are still conscious

The reactions that made me cry a bit was luffy's and sabo's reactions especially luffy imagine if your only and really loved brother die in front of your eyes and you couldn't do anything to save he tried his real best to save him because he didn't know that sabo was alive but when he found out that he is alive he was really really happy
