I got into fretless because of Steve GiGorgio back in the 90s. It’s great to see him finally getting a signature bass. Ibanez seems to be the only big brand company that actually puts some thought into something other than just different headstocks on fender shaped basses.

A really good 5-string has a scale length of 35" at the MINIMUM for the B string to sound clear, and have the correct amount of sustain. A 32" scale just doesn't cut it.

I won't lie, I'm totally stoked about the Sire Z series basses due to the added neck pickup. I used to play a Music Man style bass for a long time and always missed having a neck pickup to add a bit more warmth/oomph without making the bass sound too boomy as maxing the bass EQ would. Z series basses with neck pickups are even going to be available in lefty, this is almost too good to be true!

I saw Johnny Dibbles video on the Ashdown Roasted Series Basses and I loved them. I got what I believe to be the last Ashdown Roasted I was able to find online, a Saint Soap in Onyx Green. I found in a Mom & Pop Shop in the UK. It was stuck in Customs for nearly a week, then, when it was released, the plane broke down! ARRG! It should be in soon. I'm really looking forward to giving it thorough shakedown. As for the Ibanez TMB400TA and 405TA, from everything I've seen and read, they have the same electronics as the TMB-100s, but with a beautiful finish. The Dynamix P & J pickups are fairly hot ceramic pickups. They aren't a vintage style like the looks of the bass, but rather modern sounding. Of course, with the new finishes, they do seem more appropriate. The tone and hardware quality of the preamp left a bit to be desired. I installed a set of vintage voiced pickups and an aftermarket two band preamp with blend control and it sounded much better for my playing style.

Spector has brought out a bunch of Basses which look amazing including fan fretted ones, one I would love to try is the Dimension 4, and there's also a really whacky design by PureSlam which is their Creep bass, it looks so weird and crazy, and I love it!

Awesome video, Patrick 😎🤘🏻🎸 I personally liked the Ibanez soundgear basses and the btb basses. I remember danelectro made some interesting basses. I also dig the l.e.h basses, Those basses from cream guitars(They look like a reverse explorer) sterling stingray basses, The darkglass bass combos, The schecter basses(especially since I’ve always liked their stiletto basses), The sire z basses look pretty unique(They look like a mix), and I’m really intrigued by the ebs black haze 2. Looking forward to that pedal’s release

Don’t get me wrong I love Ibanez basses they’re my favorite but they seem to be on a “here are those basses that no one asked for” kick. Multiscale short scale? Why? Multiscale but none of them are 37 inch again… why? It just seems odd to me. They are killing it with the BTB and fretless basses this year though!

Indonesian Silvertone single cut basses in 3 colors? Very cool, don’t like the price tag. Don’t own many Indonesian guitars, but a couple Jackson beaters for living room use. This could have gotten me more excited for some Indonesia made guitars but again the price tag isn’t great. Danelectro sells a similar single cut dolphin bass for $40 cheaper… made in Korea.

Sire really has completely invalidated Squier and even Mexican Fender for me. They make Boutique level quality basses at such low prices and their QC is always on point. I have the V9 Ash sort of black doghair finish jazz bass and that thing is still the best feeling "normal" bass I have played.
