Kawhi is certainly not Pop's fault. When Kawhi came into the NBA there were questions about his desire to play outside of LA. Then he got injured and started dodging the Spurs medical staff while hiding in NY. We traded him and hes had maybe 2 healthy postseasons since we lost him?

It feels CRAZY saying this, but every 7 years there’s a super class of nba rookies. From Kobe’s 96 class, 7 years later it was the Lebron 03 class, 7 years after that it was the Kawhi 2011 class (8 years apart thanks to 1 and done), 7 years later it was the luka SGA 2018 class and 7 years after that it is going to be the cooper Flagg class next year. Assuming 1 and done rules get reverted in the near future, this crazy streak lands on 2031 next.

The reason they traded for the pics was so they can keep the value for longer, if they just drafted a player, especially this year, there’s a chance they wouldn’t pan out and then you would get no value back, with this option, they have time and possibly even more value

The Spurs historically have the best front office in all of sports. RC Buford and Pop are straight up magicians when it comes to drafting players, development, and creating a family environment that keeps the players happy and wanting to stick around. Brian Wright has RC in his ear and will continue build the culture.

He really brushed past the ATL pick next season. That pick is unprotected meaning if ATL sucks ass next season there's a chance they could draft Cooper Flagg, Ace Bailey, Dylan Harper, or Nolan Traore. All are better than everyone drafted this past year

This is still a development year for the Spurs even if they get Lauri. It would be nice if they could get to the play-in just for the experience tho, but the west is so stacked. 12 teams in the west have real chance of contending this season. Also, Manu Ginobili who’s part of the Spurs FO, said that they’re probably not gonna start contending for real until year 3 of their rebuild.
