I understand the annoyance of having them interrupt and yes that is rude - but when the company Rep/CEO starts to vere from the nature of the question and slides into somewhat of a rabbit hole, it is no longer relevant to the specific question at hand. It may be in the general catagory stemming from that question BUT it is no longer necessary to allow any further communication on the matter. Many are definitely aware that these CEO's can spend a lot of time talking about their company, stats, and technology and can use that to shield/avoid the specific questions at hand or as you mention talk slowly since they are aware of the time restraint. Making people publicly aware of these different scenarios was definitely one of the goals in these meetings.

They already did their research and had the history and documentation they needed to expose things. This wasn’t necessarily a hearing... more of a prosecution. We will see if anything actually comes from it though... still seeing ridiculous stuff being censored out on google, IG and KZfaq.

Answer to all those will be NO and no sane person will authorize such services to paedophiles if the intent is visibly known. So going after Sundar for this is bit over the top, ask republican and democrat politicians and challenge them if they don't fund free mental healthcare you won't vote them; then you start seeing change. While i respect your passion but it is wrongly targetted on Google and Sundar, leaving behind the system you are also part of.

Pichai: bla bla bla we approach political advertisement in a non-partisan way- Congressman: this was a yes or no question! Except it wasn't a yes or no question. If Pichai had just said yes like he wanted him to he would have taken it out of context and asked something like "why is Google so anti-republican?!" The CEOs know these congressmen/women are gonna try to twist their words and therefore want to give elaborate answers to explain their situation but still the chairmen have the power in this situation so they can just cut them off and say "thanks next question" and make it seem like the CEOs were dodging the question

@KolTony That's how it seemed to me too in the beginning. But one thing is that the congressmen imply that the companies have committed the crime and ask the CEOs if they will do it again, which is unfair. The CEOs just try to explain things and they get roasted. It's more like a trap.

What i find curious is despite all of those investigative claims CEOs of the company apparent know nothing about them. They always resort back to “this are our core values and our success because [insert stat or fact] but not addressing the issues being posed by claim by congress. This is where its questionable. All the CeOs answers are the exact same approach because they know that would effect their stock and market value if one thing is said to expose their company. Im aware that some of the congress’s questions are very direct and somewhat leading but theyre both approached in a very biases question to answer circumstances. (I find it to be very hard to grasp or determine information or make a informed opinion because of these biases and the way hearing is set up to not allow the ceo to propose or justify. But also ceo is not really justifying much besides what is contrary to their company’s values and operation and not regarding the specific claims being brought to the table to avoid stock and market value from collapsing) all biases circumstances to me. Sure congress may have not even them a chance to justify because they only get a few minutes to make their claims heard by the hearing. Lol theyre looking for specifics and the ceos are clearly not being direct nor are they apparently aware of their own internal affairs. So its a bit questionable.

I agree, big corps should not be able to influence elections, however there is still lobbying, donations, friendships, individual and collective bias etc. Unless there is a huge overhaul in the system this will always be the case. But should big corp promote without bias voting as a whole? Absolutely - provided that they remain unbiased. They should encourage communities to vote to get their voice heard whatever the candidate the individual wants to choose. BUT sometimes a corporations values and what they want to achieve marries up with a particular leader or candidate be it through a tool for marketing (show we are inclusive so we back X), or level a playing field that otherwise would have an extreme left/right advantage due to an advantage of resources. As long as there are people there will always be abuses of power and people across the political spectrum holding on to what little of it they have, greed and polarising opinions. Whatever - my point is promote voting in communities but let those communities as individuals choose who they want to vote for.
