David never has his own dream, but rather help achieve the dreams of others. He got to the top of Arasaka for Gloria, he made it big for Maine, and he got Lucy to the Moon. 😭 He went out like a storm

Not sure if it was said before, but in EP 4 when David says he'll take her to the moon and saying how he won't die..., the song in the background is saying " I was a liar " . It just breaks me how good and rewatchable it is

If a series is still on my mind almost a week after watching it , I'm sure it's one to remember. The expression on Lucy's face at the end... Heartbreaking . Trigger knocked it out of the park with this one.

Fun fact if you never noticed : the David Martinez is a drink that existed in the game before the Anime! A Vodka Nicola (Ironic with his dislike of carbonated drink) with the description "Aim high and go with a bang"

While the Japanese dub sounds awesome, I really recommend you guys also watch the English one since it adds a bunch of cyberpunk slang and it's done pretty well, as a fan of the tabletop it was really cool hearing it

when David is facing Adam smasher and he stops him from shooting at Lucy, that "Get distracted much?" is so epic to me idk why

This anime has revived both my interest in CP2077 and anime in general. Studio Trigger and CDPR collabing wasn't something I'd expect to happen, but it did, and they knocked it out of the park. An anime with the great animation and unique artstyle one can expect from Studio Trigger, alongside a great story and great characters are always welcomed. And the final scene with Lucy on the Moon remembering David is one of the few times an anime has made me cry, and just for that, I regard this series as a masterpiece. Also, IMO this is one of the few times that the english dub is on par, if not better than the original japanese audio, so there's that. BTW Rebecca is besto waifu and I'll die on this hill.

Loved this. Made me replay the game and realize that it had/has so much potential still to build in that world.

Jesus that was quick. The show came out barely last week and you already made a video about it!!! Just goes to show how good and influential this was in so little time. It practically revived the game on it's own

Now when i hear that final song anywhere in the game i just end up stopping whatever i was doing for a few seconds, the scenes attached to it made it such an emotional song. Like, if the anime hit you hard in the feels, playing the game is probably the worst way of getting over as you are constantly reminded of it at the most unexpected moment through the music or the items they added from the anime (rebecca's shotgun and david's mother's jacket)

An additional win needs to be given to the English dub. Seriously, it's probably the best dub I've ever seen. Every voice fits the actors so well! On top of that, all the characters from the game who have speaking lines in the anime reprise their roles here, including Adam Smasher, so there's a nice sense of continuity there. And Faraday is played by Giancarlo Esposito, who is just fantastic. It's such a good cast, I forgot I was watching a dub, it just felt so natural. If you're planning a rewatch, I definitely recommend giving the dub a try!

I can't listen to even the song at the end without tearing up. It's just so sad as he only wanted to protect the people he could and the scene with David on the moon just made me cry

This anime is such an masterpiece, and so emotional. it seems a lot of anime that is getting based on games are really popping off. First one I saw being Arcane then This one.. They are just amazing, Real Masterpieces and deserve All the praise they gets. I hope more studies does this. and take notes on how to create an Master piece. Also Rest in Peace, Rebecca. Best Girl in the show. That death and David's hurt the most to see. Not to mention watching lucy seeing david on the moon only for him to disappear in front of her eyes..Ahh.. its So painful.

Never played the game before watching the anime, mostly due to it's bad rep, but watching this made me try it. The game in it's current state is fantastic. After reading the patch notes of past updates it's extremely clear that the developers haven't given up on it, and much like No Man's Sky, the game was given new life because of their dedication. I highly reccomend both the game and the anime. Can't wait for the new DLC.

So fun fact, since everyone and their dogs love Rebecca. She wasn't actually a part of the original script by CD Projekt RED, but Studio Trigger managed to convince them to add her in when they showed them her character design. Which couldn't have been too hard, since she's obviously such an amazing character 😌

It was amazing. Never played the game, but was hooked from the very first episode until the last.

I actually decided to watch this in the dub and I found it to be an enjoyable experience with the slang they used in Cyberpunk. I think they really nailed all their voices and how I expect most of them to sound like

Litle note, that originally wasn't his favourite jacket. It was what his mom wore to work, since she worked at the ambulance. She wore it even when the accident happened.

This anime is worth watching in english, the dub is amazing, there are voice actor from the game itself and they even cast Giancarlo Esposito to voice Faraday

Lucy going to the moon is so bittersweet. She's finally living her dream but it means nothing to her if David isn't there to enjoy it with her

They really need to make more anime like this. Where it takes place in a game’s world but runs independently from the plot of the actual game

Oh man, when “I Really Want to Stay at your House” first hits. The show tugged at my heart strings so much that I’ve been unable to stop listening to it since I finished the whole thing last week. Absolute anime of the season, to say the least.

The motif of "going over the edge" is incredibly executed throughout the whole anime

As someone who is trying to introduce my parents into the Cyberpunk genre in general and also someone who enjoys reviews of shit I've already seen, this is done expertly. Currently taking small notes to explain to my parents just so they don't ask 1M questions during the show and could not be MORE grateful for a 40 minute review lmao

I feel like this is one of those anime where the experienced is actually enhanced by the dub. The dub allows for the unique usage of accents and slang that you miss with the sub.

I love how it's like the developers polished up the game prior to the anime releasing knowing it'd pull a ton of people in to the game for the first time or again.

What makes this show so unique is how tight it is. Not a single dull moment, not a single redundant scene, no fillers. Just top class animation start to finish and a story so tight with characters so interesting and compelling, it just draws you in and makes you binge watch it all in one go before you know it. And best of all: not a single iota of woke in all of it! Really refreshing!

Didn't play Cyberpunk until a few weeks ago. Lost myself in it for nearly 120 hours. Followed it up watching this, and then went back in for another game. I love that you can get David's Jacket and Rebecca's shotgun

I love the realism of Rebecca being flung back by the shotgun style blast. I fired a shotgun once, and even when firmly planted with a solid stance, that thing pushed me back a good foot, so yeah, they know what they're doing.

It was nice watching you gush about how much you loved the show. I also liked how you pointed out in-game references and gave background info on the VAs. However, I do wish you went a little more in-depth since there's so much that I think deserves to be mentioned. Stuff like the op song, use of recurring shots, and iconography of standing/falling off the edge. But overall good video. The effort really shows through

I think one of the best things about this anime is that it didn’t try to do something revolutionary. It told a simple story in a simple way, but just knocked it out of the park while doing it. Sometimes when you do the simple things amazingly, you end up with an amazing product. Something more studios should take notice on and do, not just in anime but in general.

I also like the little touch in the game that they now added his name as a drink in the Afterlife.

What I love about David is that he had the habit of when something happens suddenly and he notices, his sandevastan immediately activates as he is reactivity triggering it without thought. From when Lucy snatched his chip, the instant of pilars death, and the moment Maine’s death.

Definitely my anime of the year so far. I've never played Cyberpunk and all my friends told me it was a nearly unplayable mess, so I had no expectations whatsoever going into this show. I ended up binge watching the entire thing in one night, and then spent the entire week after that being sad about it. Just incredible what Trigger was able to do to make the world feel so close and vibrant and real even though it's such an out-there setting and story.

Just got around to finishing this anime before watching your review and man did that final episode really bring out a fountain of tears

7:57 honestly this scene was one of the hardest for me to watch. I've been there, obviously not the exact sane circumstances but in that physical position freaking out having a panic attack. Those flashes of thought rolling over the David while the music raises to an almost unbearable volume really encompasses what having panic attacks are like at least for me. Total sensory overload while feeling paralyzed to do anything. Along with the shaking, vibrating manic energy. Truly a wonderful scene depicting a terrible feeling. Edit: not to mention the classmate's call almost seeming like David's own thoughts yelling at himself.

This was a really enjoyable recap of the anime. Great job!

You have no idea how happy I was to see Mike Pondsmith credited with the creation of the Cyberpunk world. I met him at a GAMA convention in the early 90's...a great guy and a wonderful family...and now I realize the babe in arms at that show is now in their 30's and I have a sad. no shade, but you raving about how the series is like the computer game while I'm recognizing art from the paper RPG game from the 80's is kinda surreal. I never played the computer game, I had a potato until a month or two ago. But the art, style and the whole vibe resonates with the William Gibson novels and the tabletop RPG that I have fond memories of. THAT is dedication to the origins...and just how well the whole thing holds up 40 years later

I love how major crimes is played in the beginning of his story playing during hthe car scene in the first episode to playing while hes on the line of insanity death rapidly chasing him

Trigger absolutely killed it. The CGI, the choice to keep Becca in the show even tho CDPR said they wanted her out, etc its.. a masterpiece to say the least. I hope that this insprires more content like this (as I fucking love the Cyberpunk genre) and just stands as a testament as to what video game adaptaions can be in general. It still amazes me how seamlessly they implement the game mechanics into the anime. It’s all exactly how it is in the game from all the locations all the way too the elevator buttons. They didn’t miss a single detail

So i enjoyed 2077 a lot before seeing this anime, and after the anime, it gave me a whole new perspective on the game, and now i enjoy it even more. The universe is amazing and full of great stories, and the potential for many more.

Honestly, I feel the Dub deserves it's own win, it's just fantastic how much energy and little extras they toss into it. Like, when Rebecca shoots Pilah after he tells her to tip David, it bounces off his hand yeah, but in the dub, you can hear him cackle in the background "It's fuckin' bulletproof!" gleefully.

This anime hit me like a truck, it was just there and took me with him, just to be left back as an (emotional) wreck

Bro I no cap watched this entire series just tonight and I was still feeling it at the end. ONE NIGHT and the characters still meant so much to me. DAAAMM IT WAS SO GOOD.

Can we also get a win for A LOT of the subtle foreshadowing they do with not only the songs but in the show as well? I picked up on it almost right from the start, but boy that didn't stop me from enjoying it. The other thing I absolutely love is how they portray cyberpscosis as a moral ambiguity and how they were pushed over the edge by their life's tramua or psychotic break. It isn't "This guy is nuts." its "This guy went nutz because the whole world burned him." Making Maine and David's dive into Cyberpsychosis even more tragic.

The worldbuilding and world itself cyberpunk has is so good I feel like a slice of life comedy set in night city would not only work but work great

I like when franchises become more about their settings than the characters, it reminds me of Gotham, the story is not about the heroes, the mercs and the monsters, it's a collection of stories of how these god forsaken cities take wonderful people, puts them thru hell and them spits them back out like old gum

From this day onwards, that song is gonna remind me of this pain everytime it comes on.

Edgerunners was so dope!!!! I like the 2077 game storyline but the edge runners anime took it to a whole new level!!!!

After watching this and reliving a lot of the scenes really hit me in the feels hard again. By far one of the best anime to come out

I think the best parts of this anime is the moments when David has to make a decision, the pauses and tension that build up remind me exactly of when you get to make a decision in the game

Bro I never realized the cars in this anime were CGI until you pointed it out in this video, that just shows how great it is! I haven't played cyberpunk but god this makes me want to play it.
