My first time going through Dark Souls, I got all the way to lost Izalith with Seigmeyer's quest, but then I tried to help him with the demons and accidentally hit him. Hearing him think I went hollow and having to kill him just... broke something in me. I loved that goof, I loved his cheerful attitude, his adventurous spirit, everything. and then I had to kill him. I couldn't touch the game for like 2 weeks after that.

The orignal owner of the item will ever know what torture that forgoten item will do to another player. Such an unique mechanic. (if you kill it you get the item)

Been waiting for this video for what feels like years! Ever since I started following this channel I've been hoping you'd cover the Dark Souls franchise and this video did not disappoint. This is easily my favorite game series ever and this video reminded me of a lot of the reasons why I love it so much. Super excited to see DS2 and 3 get covered.

I just got into DS1 recently (just got to the Bell Gargoyles), but it's been an amazing experience so far! This video has sorta... taught me what to expect, while not ruining the experience of the obtuse-as-hell story of the game. Love the video, and wish me luck, ya'll! I always choose the pendant as a starting gift, a small trinket that only has the value I give it. Whatever is held inside the pendant is known only to me. Something to clutch onto when on the cusp of despair. That and I have a small trinket gifted to me by an old friend, a bit of extra meaning for me.

Amazing work chief

Definitely one of my favorite games and saying that as a newcomer as I got into the series last year.

A fantastic video as usual. I always hoped that you'd one day cover a Souls game (or all of them xD), because this young genre slashed its way into my list of favourite games of all time. What I love most about them is how they motivate a player to overcome a challenge. To try and fail over and over again until you prevail. Personally, I'd say Souls games get falsely "advertised" for their difficulty. Because for my understanding, calling these games super hard isn't really accurate, referring to them as being merciless on the other hand fits better, if you ask me. The constant threat of death, losing your souls, the lack of guidance and the underhanded tactics your enemies bring to bare against you. Once you know the trick, these qualities are easily accepted and/or overcome. But figuring out said trick is your duty and yours alone. The game will give you the basics and you have to find the solution on your own. It's such a satisfying gameplay loop and I will always admire FromSoft for what they brought to life with these games.

I have a Chosen Undead tattoo on my forearm in honor of my love for FromSoft games. Dark Souls was the first one to play AND beat. It felt soo good to finally beat the game that I immediately started a new game plus.

i speak towards the ending's conclusion about hollowing is depression and humanity being an analog for taking action by yourself, and say you must do Bloodborne next, it has this message. but far stronger in my opinion the game's more aggressive and faster pace combat style is basically a power fantasy, it tells you "you see that huge thing? go kill it, if it hurts you, hurt it back harder", hell, the game's slogan is "hunt your nightmares", so along with the idea of hollowing being giving up and not trying, in Bloodborne, its that, but with a twist, you are the one that these giant, powerful beasts should fear, you're hunting them, and so it teaches you to push on without fear, or even when it is with fear, it tells you to do it with the skill and grace of a hunter, to make them regret coming across you

man i have not been enjoying my time in ds1 but this video makes me wanna continue. i really wanna love this game as much as I enjoyed elden ring (i started on ds1 but finished elden ring before ds1 to avoid spoilers).

Am I crazy I don't think they let you forget your Estus flask of you kill asylum demon early he just drops his hammer and Oscar then gives you the key along with your Estus flask also there's a unique cutscene for sif if you find him in the dlc before you fight him in the main game he recognizes you and everything

6:31 So *yes* you can possibly screw your entire playthrough via skipping your Estus Flask... but you'll either get it when you come back and kill the Hollowed out Oscar (which is all optional, but hey, it's possible) OR if you go behind Frampt's pit at the Firelink Shrine there's a chest that you'll notice is always open. Well, if you skip the tutorial and Oscar, that chest will be closed when you arrive at Firelink and when you open it, hey preso, Estus Flask!

Great video, but I wouldn't say Ceaseless is the ONLY boss to have a gimmick. I mean, aside from Bed of Chaos who is entirely a gimmick fight, you can drop the Iron Golem from the sides of his arena as well

It seems like they planned for you to face pinwheel after the moonlight butterfly. It gives you the divine ember to kill the skeletons or the key to go to lower undead burg.

Not sure it's necessarily a trap castle in the traditional sense, but the legend of zelda twilight princess has two dungeons that feature a lot of traps: Arbiter's Grounds and the Temple of Time (my favorite one in the game).

It is always amazing to watch videos like this about the souls/borne games. To see how people view the game. It always allows me to look at the game in yet another perspective. And I absolutely love that. It also always makes me want to play the series all over again. I hope you intend to do the other souls games as I do love them so much. (Although I will still state that dark souls 2 was just the absolute least enjoyable souls game for me). 😅

The Taurus Demon and Capra Demon are not copy pasted "bosses that became regular enemies," they are the opposite, they are regular enemies that scale so high against the other enemies around them that they get treated like bosses. They are regular demons that _escaped_ the Demon Ruins and Blighttown, and got to the Undead Burg...where they started ripping shit apart.

Ornstein and smough was my first wall… it was my first play through, I didn’t understand a great many things (like summoning) and they clapped my cheeks so hard…. I need to go back and fight them, because my second play through I summoned Solaire and it was too easy.

When i played dark souls i was (and still am) terrible. I ended up letting my friend give my a bunch of hacked gear. Protector name smaughs armor, crystal greatsword +10 1000 of every soul etc. Even with ALL that, i still got shitwhipped in the forest. Then id get hatemail because i was a filthy hacker and i had to explain that it was BECAUSE im bad that i needed all the help i could get... I always forgot to stay hollow or not pop a soul to.heal in certain areas. God i hate this game
