Thinking in terms of plot I believe rengoku losing was a genius move on the part of the mangaka. It shows that the Hashira are not these “so skilled they are immortal” beings and that even the top of the demon slayer corps are capable of dying. It sets the stakes so much higher going forward because there’s no guarantee that they will even win.

Not only that but how they kept teetering it back and forth on who’d win or not, yes akaza shows to be stronger than rengoku, but even then rengoku really gives it his all even to the very end just to keep akaza in place for the sun to hit him, making akaza fear for death. That’s a hell of a way to make a scene suspenseful, no clear sign of an actual winner and just a constant struggle and push on both sides, there aren’t a lot of scenes that handle stuff like that well and demon slayer Magen train did it beautifully.

I was amazed by how impactful they managed to make Renguko's death feel. We've briefly met him in season 1, but only in this movie do we really get to know and love him. And from the very first second, he wins us over with his absolute radiance. He's a pillar of strength, and it's immediately comforting to know he's there, and it makes so much sense when you consider that he had to be the one his little brother could lean on. From then on he keeps establishing his skill and reliability. You can't help but start to love him. Even during his fight with the Higher Three, he makes sure that his juniors and the other passengers are safe, no matter what. And when he gives his life, we get time to feel the impact. To feel the absolute horror and despair Tanjiro and the others feel. We're shown their emotions, and those of the other Hashira as well as the Master. Renguko's death carries WEIGHT. And that is, in my opinion, what makes this movie great. It's not just a thing that happens before the other characters move on. It's THE thing. The ultimate outcome of this mission, and it's treated as such. The movie leaves you with the impact of his death. And that, being allowed, being FORCED to feel the consequences the life all those characters chose, that's what made this movie special to me.

And their fight wasn't one sided like in the manga. In the manga Rengoku was getting his ass handed to him. But in the movie his and Akaza's battle is prolonged and made to be much more equal. Even though Akaza could've used his most powerful moves and ended it quickly, they made a good fight.

The Demon Slayers’ dreams greatly focus on the main theme of the series being people relationships and how it affects people moving forward. What they had to lose, and what they had to look forward to. Love it. Edit: Ufotable’s Fate series also constantly have this level of animation. Double Edit: I love the fight between Akaza and Rengoku so much. Akaza’s martial arts have a weight of carelessness as he keeps losing arms, knowing he can regrow them at any time. But despite the Breathing Techniques, Rengoku is still just a human and whatever damage he takes is crucial to the outcome of the fight. Akaza loses several arms but every broken bone and destroyed organ that Rengoku suffers will affect him more and more Triple Edit: Akaza struggled to release himself from Rengoku’s grip. Rengoku, who lost his eye, broke his bones and ruptured his organs, is a man about 5 feet under and deeper. The strength of his willpower and body, all given to him by his strong mother. Set your heart ablaze.

That small silence before Rengoku's ninth form gets me every time. You can tell he's calculating his options and his limits as well as getting his breathing under control so that he can get to the best outcome of the fight. He probably already realized he was going to die in that moment and decided if he was going to die he was going to take Akaza down with him as to keep everyone safe from him. He kept his belief that the strong should help the weak.

Something you forgot to win; the difference the scene between night and day. At night, the battlefield was dark and dreary only being lit up by the moves by both fighters as they fought to prove right their ideals. As the sun came up, Akaza fled showing that no matter what darkness will always yield to the light. Even though, the train shielded our heroes from the sun in shadow; seemingly hinting that even if light (aka Rengoku) won the fight in terms of his ideal and honor, the effects of darkness still linger on and taint victory. I may be looking too much into the scene, but I feel that the scene going from dark to light perfectly shows how the world isn't perfect. That in times of good there can be darkness hiding. I only posted this bc while watching this in theaters I specifically remember being in awe as to how different the scene looked once the sun came up.

I’m also probably looking to much into this but notice that when Rengoku was saying his last words that the sun shone on him and Tanjiro was still somewhat in the dark, to me it symbolizes that Rengoku’s duty as a demon slayer was finished and he can finally rest whereas Tanjiro’s duty still remains

I like also that Rengoku, they never forgot in his reactions and expressions and thoughts, mentally he is very young and they show that. He cares about his little brother and mother and father and looks after Tanjiro like a big brother would. He looks a little out of his depths towards the end and the kid he is shows. It's subtle but really shows the care they put in their characters it's brilliant.

Truly is a break from twitter and all the toxicity over there. I really wish anime fans, espically the younger ones would see anime as an art form... and art is completely opinion based. One thing I loved that they did was keep Zenitsu's sleep power up thing. We learned in season that he mastered the first form of Thunder Breathing, but can only confidently use it while asleep and dreaming he's saving the day. Also I'm glad at least Nezuko knows how strong he is.

So the interesting thing about demon slayer is the manga is just over 200 chapters, and out of that the final arc is about 70 chapter. I honestly feel that the could separate the final arc between a season (that includes the training arc before it), and a movie purely dedicated to the final battle. I say this; because, truly believe the final battle deserves a movie budget, and it would immerse the viewers so much more than having to wait for episodes to come out if watching weekly.
@user-ze6ns9pq2y
@user-ze6ns9pq2y 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I’ve been thinking about that - it’s a big problem for pacing the final movie/final battle with Muzan. Even if they made it a 3 hour movie they would have to fit the upper moon 1,2,3 and Muzan battle. It’s tough, because I think it would be a really good idea to put the Akaza vs Giyu and Tanjiro fight in a movie as well. People would love to see the “revenge” fight after seeing Akaza in mugen train. They could do a 2 part movie like Avengers infinity war and endgame. Basically part 1 is Demon Slayer: Infinity Fortress - which would cover the beginning of the 70 chapters, infiltrating the fortress, and fighting upper moons 2 and 3. The part 2 movie could cover the upper moon 1 fight and Muzan fight. Or Upper moons all in the first part and Muzan fight in part 2.

I think the scene where Rengoku saw his mother before dying was the moment where it really broke me. I started crying and it felt new to me. Ofc I've cried a lot in other well made movies, but that's often bc "awe sad moment :(", yet this time it felt genuine (not to say that the others weren't) it is as a said person left, but I've come to accept that he didn't die painful but in a way he always wanted and that was to make his mother proud. Even though with her passing and dealing with a father that is feeling like going to get milk but it's to depressed to do so, while still be a light for his little brother and everyone around him. I've already read the manga, even before the movie and it's safe to say that this movie brought emotions that I couldn't have imagine I could give while watching a movie. One thing about me feeling sad, which differed from the other times I cried is probably bc I've already known that he's going to die, which made me accept his death and handling it way better than say if I wouldn't have the preparation. It felt like a sad thing, which you know isn't able to change and yet when it hits its a mix of sorrow and acceptance. It made me have so many goosebumps throughout the movie and it's save to say that Rengoku has earned a very special place in my heart, now way in the front than when I've read the manga. The movie did a great job.

About 3:25 I think many of us are already used to the different ways in which bad guys are portrayed as being really strong. They appear, they look bored, they start walking slowly towards the protagonists, that sort of thing. But the conversation gets interesting when we talk about good guys, because a lot of the time, heroes aren't really done that subtly. Protagonist guy just shows up, beats up some villains, or shows up looking like he can bench press 5000 pounds and you're like "oh, he's strong". In Rengoku's case, it's way more low-key. You can just tell he's strong based on his never-fading smile, the way his arms are crossed and how he carries himself, which adds to how cool the character is.
