Dying Light brought to us that Zombie killing can be done with parkour, style and ingenuity, having Dying Light 2 now with more stunning visuals and and multiple endings makes it more of a great game to play!

I know you haven't done DLC, but The Following DLC is fantastic! It even has a great story and compelling ending!

I played the entire game in co op with my younger brother after i got my own place and it was awesome. Getting to play with him despite not seeing each other every day anymore and all the parkour zombie killing together was special to me

I was filled with glee hearing Roger Craig Smith's voice as Crane, good to see him voicing the main character in another zombie game. He's the reason why Chris Redfield is my favorite RE character

I'll keep this short: Dying Light is not perfect, but it entertained my monkey brain. The sometimes horrific glitches were, for once, a welcome addition as I played. My friends and I laughed like idiots whenever a zombie we killed would scoot across the floor, glitch into a wall, or sometimes just phase through walls or doors. It was a fun but flawed experience I consider myself lucky to have stumbled upon.

I love how even though you didn't enjoy the game in it's entirety, you still talk it up with compliments. The world needs more people like you.

Dying Light's best when you've got a night time airdrop and are running full tilt away from three volatiles. As the game progresses, the volatiles stop being scary, the airdrops cease, and you turn into Spiderman when you get the grapple.

I got dying light a few years ago only to let it catch dust in my library because i got frustrated with it, I never gave myself a chance to get good with the parkour so it was easy to get pissed and give up, however, when dying light 2 came out I thought “Hell, why not give the first another shot? The sequel looks fun, why not.” It’s now one of my favorite games i’ve ever played, it’s not without its flaws that’s for certain, I’ve always hated how every mission is just “Go here, get this, bring it back. Nothing will go wrong.” only for everything to go wrong and even still i’ve been having a blast with it. It really is a beautiful game. While i’m here I may as well say I love what you’re doing with this channel, all too often do we see people picking games apart and shining a light on their flaws without ever looking at what it has going good for it, without ever taking a moment to appreciate the blood sweat and tears that went into amazing games like this one. Making a game isn’t easy. Making a good game has to be hard as hell, but the hardest aspect has to be watching as the world talks shit about your game that you poured your soul into. I like how you try to get into the heads of the creators of games in order to better appreciate them. I can’t put into words how much I love what you’re doing with this outlet. I’ve been watching your videos a good bit for the past few days and they’ve brought me joy and hope in a time where those things are scarce, I don’t mean to sound too sappy but I’m just speaking my truth. I wish you well.

Honestly, my only two gripes about this game are... 1. Crane is an idiot a lot of the time and we have no control in stopping his own dumbassery until The Following 2. In the daytime, omniscient Virals will show up every 5 minutes to hunt you down, knowing exactly where you are, even if you're trying to be subtle. Only camouflage gets them to go from a regular hazard to a huge annoyance. And even then, while you have camo on, they STILL make their way to your face, stopping short of smacking you to just stare at you until your camo wears off Otherwise, apart from those, Dying Light is an incredibly fun game. Dying Light 2, though, I'd have to say that aside from the ass keybinds you're forced to work with on PC, I'm enjoying a hell of a lot more. You can tell how much got refined. And it has an actual working stealth system! I love me some stealth. So, I'd say Techland went from making an amazing game to a nigh-perfect one.

An excellent example of how games have to be "given wins" differently than books, Tv, or movies as while the story of those is what draws us to them, with games it is the gameplay that is the make-or-break part and a great primary gameplay loop can hold up a mediocre story. But it's a bit more difficult to explain a win of gameplay because it always comes down to "look at how it feels!" rather than the more concise critiques that a story can be given.

This is one of those games where the gameplay is better than the actual story and it completely works! Loved this game and I'm definitely in love with the sequel been playing it whenever I have the time to.

The DLC needs an episode. It advances the story which imo is much improved and the gameplay is expanded. Also DL’s awesomeness comes more from side missions which allow for more gameplay which give it character.

I’m super excited for the DL2 video, both of the Dying Light games are absolutely amazing.

The key to fun in this game is co-op; without it it can be fun but limited in its experience.

Dying Light is one of my favorite games of all time, but I understand that it's not for everyone. I'm glad you managed to look past your own disinterest and find some good things to talk about. The nostalgia trip from seeing the different parts of the story again one right after another was great to experience, and hearing someone with a thoroughly different viewpoint talk about stuff that they liked or appreciated about the game regardless of their opinion on the whole package was really neat to listen to. The one thing I remember was I got the game when I was 13 and I had to stop playing at the first night mission because I was too scared. I eventually beat it but I found it to be fun :)

I was a HUGE fan of dying light, so when I got Dying Light 2 I was so hyped to play it but then my ps4 broke…

I pretty much agree with you on most points, your verdict is a bit meh to me but yeah, I get it. Dying Light has amazing level design and fun as fuck gameplay, the voice acting is also amazing Imo, the only thing really lacking was the plot, it's just a very cut and dry story and I'm fine with that but to each their own. Also honestly, even the side quests are more engaging and fun than the main story, like the various Tolga and Fatin missions or Gazi. I can imagine almost everyone's reactions when Jade and Rahim died and it probably goes like "Oh, they're dead, okay." They didn't give a lot of time for the main characters to grow on screen or in side quests, so it kinda feels like they're just NPCs that died and not your friends

Its funny hearing that you didn't enjoy the game at all as when it came out I adored it. Totally agree on the story being bland and underwhelming but the gameplay loop of exploring for loot and cache drops and powerful weapons encapsulated me. Still one of the only games I know where npcs out their hands up if you have a gun but also react dynamically, meaning if you take too long or fire with an empty clip they attack

I think for me Dying Light is about playing in co op with friends having a blast. The story is there and Crane is a badass, i mean he does share a VA with Ezio! But it for sure is not the best part. I have played this game on every difficulty and i can say that playing alone kind of sucks here and there. That's why i mention Co Op. It feels so good to run with your friends doing parkour, exploring quarantine zones, unlocking safe houses, and cheesing the fuck out of volatiles. the dlc also adds to it a bit and its fun to drive over zombies.

I thought the story was really good. But I can see why some people would not like it. But I think the main thing Techland wanted to get across as good was the parkour mechanics, which they achieved

I really enjoyed the gameplay of Dying Light. They made it just the right level of terrifying, tricky, and unique. The gameplay (crafting and skill tree especially) were great. Unfortunately 2 isn't living up to that for me so far.

To answer your question at the end, I'm right there with you. I played this game for the first time a month or so ago, with some friends, and the story was sooooo weak, and I truly understand that isn't the point of the game, but still. The gameplay was solid fun up to a certain point but very quickly got stale by the end. I didn't even have all of my abilities before I was already wanting it to be over, but still had the obligation to finish because my friends wanted a fourth person. In retrospect, I disliked Dying Light more than I enjoyed it in the grand scheme of things, and it sucks because it makes it hard for me to even think about picking up the second one. I know it's very well loved by a lot of people, but I personally just don't get it.

One of my favorite zombie games of all time and if I could make a recommendation for a future vid since you've done Telltale's The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us would be fantastic

Still the second best open world zombie franchise. This game isn't a patch on Days Gone. The one good thing is the Volitiles and other special zombies. That and the drop kicks! But Days Gone had a much better story and with the hordes that you could randomly come across providing a challenge. Especially how they make you deal with some of them
