I think this song represents Betty's journey more than Simon's, after all, his tragedy came from an accident, while her was trough continuous sacrifice. As Betty herself said, she made her life so much about Simon, that maybe there's no much left of her. But, after seeing this scene, it really makes you realize that it didn't meant they had a relationship of codependence, but a relationship made of pure passion for each other. A perfect life cut short by things beyond their control, and the tragedy of trying to stop it.

It's so gorgeous, they are just sitting there looking at each other hard in love for the full minute of the song and its just... lovely. There's no insane animation like Winter wonderland or whacky showmanship like baked with love and yet I just... love this so much more for some reason

Something that I really like about Simon and Betty's relationship is that it's not perfect. It's very flawed. We even have a whole episode about how Betty would be better off if she left for her trip. As happy as they are together, Simon is somewhat selfish, not thinking about Betty's opportunities. But at the same time, it's not enough for me to root against them. They're both individually charming that I want them to work. Man this show is good

I love how the last lyric "but it ain't called love without a little tragedy" is about how much bad stuff went down between Betty and Simon over the years damn I love this series

seeing Simon and Betty's once happy relationship really makes me admire my toaster and my bath tub.

Watching all the episodes of adventure time, you know that Simon and Betty were in love with each other. However, we never really understood just how much they were until we got a flashback of them just being in love, without all the craziness and magic in between. Seeing Simon and Betty just staring into each others eyes and just taking in this moment which might seem like a minute to us, but an eternity to them, it really adds another layer of sadness when rewatching the show. I am loving this so far, and am honestly looking forward to where this plot is headed.

Having watched the series finale and coming back to this song over and over, I realize something. This truly is the perfect song for Simon and Betty. Yes, it's a gorgeous love song. It's also the biggest red flag. The song is literally telling us, before the finale, everything the finale did. "You and me, we've got something to lose. Boy you've got your dreams, and I've got everything in you." Simon was free to pursue his goals because of the constant sacrifices from Betty. Her dreams became seeing Simon fulfill his own. "I'll be there through all the reveries cause I believe in you more than I ever believed in me." At this point, Betty had already sacrificed for Simon. She put her dreams on hold to follow him to find the Enchiridion and even when they came back, she let him take all the credit. When he met her at the bus stop, she could've left. Instead, she saw Simon's potential as more than her own and gave in. "And maybe this is killing part of me but it ain't called love without a little tragedy." This final one hits the deepest to me. Betty knew what she was doing when she went with Simon and she accepted all of it. Throughout the series, we see several glimpses into Betty's perspective. That she knew what she had done was wrong and she didn't care. In another life, she would change her mind, warn herself, something. In this reality, however, she had made her choices and regretted nothing. She had lived her choices, seen amazing things. The Fionna and Cake series was such a love letter to fans. It was beautiful. I'm glad the ending gave Betty one final chance to teach Simon something. A lesson she had learned over and over. Your life is worth living. Not chasing past decisions but truly living. It was the way Betty lived and how Simon should have lived after she was gone. She didn't waste time trying to fix a past mistake. Everything she did in the series was a double-down on her choices, choices made looking forwards. Every choice Simon made was made looking backwards. Sorry this was so long-winded. This is just my take on the series and the themes within. I hope whatever your take away was that you had fun the same way I did. Much love.

Before this episode, I saw Simon’s sadness, but now I feel it. We knew they loved each other, and we’d seen some bits of it, but it was mostly just “he cares about her, therefore we care about her as well” and the same way for Betty about Simon. But now… we actually saw how happy they were and what was lost all because of the crown. It was amazing, but so heartbreaking how much they really loved each other.

Everyone keeps praising "Winter Wonderworld" and "Baked with Love" and, while I do enjoy those two songs, this, for me, right here is a song I can't help but come back to over and over again. In fact, this whole episode might just be my favorite so far. I personally never knew I needed a whole episode dedicated to Simon telling how he and Betty first fell in love with each other. But, when this part came up, I was practically in tears for how brilliantly well done it was. It kind of makes it hard to go back to older episodes knowing how things went between the two of them afterward. Well done, Adventure Time team. Well done

I know out of the two of them, Betty sacraficed a lot more. But even still, you can see that Simon loved Betty so so much. Even after centuries of madness he never forgot her. Its comforting knowing that Simon is able to move forward in life now and be happy, even without his princess.

The equal compassion they show each other throughout this entire scene is beautiful, they sit there, no words, nothing wacky happening, just pure love in both of their eyes, and its been making me cry every time I've watched this

Words can't describe how much it feels to see how humanly emotional the show's become. I was just a kid when the original series came out and having grown up alongside the show, I really appreciated how human the insane world of Ooo felt. So complex and vibrant with every person that existed in the show, and to finally see the real persons behind Simon and Betty is such an emotional journey. 10+ plus years later and I can see it all, especially as the changed person I am since 10 years ago. I'm very grateful for the impact Adventure Time's storytelling has had on me, and I'm so happy I could get to see this new story unfold. It's so bittersweet.

Been crying a lot since hearing this. My ex broke up with me after four years together about five months ago... She never looked back, but I loved her with all my heart and this song just makes me think of all the moments we shared together and the way she used to look at me. As much as I should hate her for leaving and going on dating apps three weeks later, I can't hate her completely. I never contacted her again and it'll stay that way, but I still love and cherish all the moments we shared together. She helped me learn to love myself a little more, something I'll always be grateful for. I guess it really "aint called love without a little tragedy..." This song perfectly & so tragically represents Simon's & bettys relationship The first half speaks so candidly to bettys devotion & infatuation with simon & than goes on to speak on bettys ultimate sacrfice after trying to save simion & finally succeding in it with paying the ultimate cost in becoming intertwined with this worlds manifestation of chaos.. thst being her tragedy. This tells simons perspective of hos devotion to betty after she sacrificed herself to get him back the part specifically the resonates to me with simon is Maybe this is killing apart of me line as we see how hes life without betty is killing him.. hes been saved like betty wanted but doomed to live a live without a love that was so strong it transended.. God there such a beautifully tragic couple.. such extraordinary writing

This is truly beautiful. However, it is the last ten seconds that destroyed me. I have no clue why. From the beautiful tranquility to an empty world that still has it own beauty, matching the melancholic shift in the song. The slow song fade out going over the hill, giving me such a sense of hope, melancholy, and happiness as they near their destination. Even with knowing what happens next. This is too many emotions in 10 seconds, i am not built for this shit

All of these episodes that spend so much more time with Simon make me look at the ice king in a different way. Sure we knew who he was but so much of the show is with him as the ice king. I feel like it’s easier to understand how hard it must have been for Marcy to watch her father figure slowly go insane and forget who she was and how hard it was to be around him at times. In this episode when the videos of the ice king were played idk something about that scene really stuck with me about how sad of a character the ice king is

What a scene man, this show is unreal. Never have I ever gotten so invested in something like this. This scene alone was insane with how powerful it was, making me feel an immense amount of emotion. Nostalgic almost even. Made me think back to the days I was in love, how it would feel just like this being with that person. The passion of just sitting at the bus stop overlooking the city. The passion of how they just look at each other, nothing said, but you can see the love. Shit put me in my feelings, such a beautiful thing to witness. Wow

Simon is the person i relate to when i feel depressed, he manages to really hide it by being a good person to his beloved ones, even if these don't take care or attention to him, and sometimes he just feels so null that no feeling can't rmeven relate to his wish to see his beloved one back again, just as i lose that opportunity...

Just dawned on me, but what if the difference between Simon and Winter King was entirely Betty. Simon felt a connection with Betty when they first met and explored it when he found the note in the library. What if Winter King simply had no feelings for Betty at all, simply going through with everything up to this point, but entirely on his own. He still found the crown and used it to survive with a younger Marceline. Perhaps that Marceline had died at a later date after modifying the Abadeer axe into a guitar. An Ice King with no interest in replacing his “princess,” would just be a determined Simon wanting to be sane again. We know mainstream Ice King tried to make a spell to control PB’s heart so what if Winter King did something similar with her mind, curing himself of his madness. At least through this, it would explain why Winter King didn’t really remember Betty by much after 1000 years as she was never significant in his eyes. Not a love interest, but a cohort that helped him with a project. This would give credit as to why he became infatuated with Fionna and his only ice-person replica being Marceline. Edit: I also gotta add how funny Ice Kings edits at the end of the F&C’s story came full circle. Fionna being in love with Winter King feels like a joke that went over peoples heads.

I feel like you could show this to a non-AT fan and they'd cry their eyes out. This scene is just so powerful.

Seeing this all come to fruition after initially thinking they were leaving all of it behind brings a beautiful tear to my eye. A piece of my childhood is being nourished and taken care of in such a meaningful way, and it truly makes me happy in ways even i still struggle to understand. Seeing these beautiful piece of the story play out... its amazing. Im so thankful for this series and Adventure Time as a whole.
