I love the idea that MI6 is rapidly running out of backup agents due to Bond's stupidity, so they eventually just start grabbing people off the street and sending them in immediately with no training. The only requirement for the job is that you have to look sort of like pierce brosnan

id totally watch a bond movie where 007 dies in the opening scene, and theres a long string of agents dying one after another (but still making a little progress each time) near the end of the 2nd act MI6 realizes they can send 2 bonds in at the same time, and we get a really cool fight scene of them working together (then they explode). this causes a ridiculous spiral of more and more bonds being sent in, and by the end of the movie its all out war

There's... one thing. Jaws became a *good guy.* At the end of Moonraker, which was just a few movies ahead of A View to a Kill (itself referenced directly for this plot,) Jaws realized the villain had no interest in keeping him around in the nazi-inspired "genetically perfect" world, and turned Face. He got a scientist girlfriend, drank champagne and helped Bond! He was a GOOD GUY! ...Here he's just working for the baddies again because... ehh?

What I love about RTs naming conventention is that it implies MI6 in all the years that the program had been run had only ever lost 6 agents in the field and then this shit show of a mission happens and someone in MI6 has to explain why they lost 50+ agents over the course of like 3 days

My favorite detail comes from the levels resetting after every agent's death, which implies that either the villains willingly reset everything (including saving Mya from falling to her death over and over again) exactly as it was when Bond was first there in order to give the next agent a fair chance to finish what he started, or each life is in a completely different mission from before, meaning that Willem Defoe has managed to nuke the world with nanobot gas in the exact same places at least 55 times before MI6 could successfully eliminate him.

Hi RT, Dolphin developer here. I think the issue you had with the widescreen behavior was related to aspect ratio (under "general") being set to "auto", which means Dolphin tries to determine if the game is running in 4:3 or 16:9 mode (which it can only do sometimes, which I guess is why vehicle sections triggered it) and then resizes the window accordingly; this option essentially simulates whether you're using a widescreen television or not (both of which receive the same signal; they only get stretched differently). This is *separate* from the widescreen hack or the game's internal widescreen setting, which determines whether the game should render more space to account for stretching or not. In this case, you should have set it to "Force 16:9" instead. This is mentioned on the Dolphin Wiki article for the game. (There are other issues which could be solved via setting the texture cache to "safe" (under "hacks") and enabling "manual texture sampling" (under advanced), but these have performance costs.) Hopefully this helps if you try to play other games in the series.

EVERY. SINGLE. BOND. 007 - 1:14. The original Bond. Performed the initial nuclear briefcase sequence. Died in a hail of gunfire at the Weapons Research Facility. 008 - 5:17. Succeeded 007. Stretched the screen. Completed the WRF mission but let a train escape. 009 - 7:26. Caught up to the train but drove poorly and didn't have a chance at the dismount, falling to his death. 0010 - 8:22. Tried motorcycle strats, but lost it with poor driving in the last instants. 0011 - 8:57. Finally caught up to the damn train. Fixed the screen. Little regard for life. Died from an armed ambush in the dark. 0012 - 9:51. Knew how to use thermal vision but forgot he was there to destroy the launch computers. Won a climactic fight with Jaws and escaped with Naradova in a helicopter, but forgot how to fly higher. Destroyed the General's base and killed him. Fucked with the screen a lot. Really underestimated the sturdiness of a barrier and the firepower of a tank. That last mistake would prove fatal. 0013 - 17:47. Got past that barrier and *almost* lost the patrols, but failed to be a good driver at the end of the evasion. 0014 - 20:10. Fixed 0013's mistakes. Thinned the screen. Failed to be Rambo. 0015 - 21:36. Destroyed the jamming antenna. Failed to be Solid Snake. 0016 - 23:15. Failed to be Solid Snake (how people actually play the games). 0017 - 23:28. Died via a stealthy man with a rocket launcher. 0018 - 23:52. Finally blew up the door and infiltrated the ruins. Saw the shot that would kill 003. Died trying to reach him. 0019 - 25:02. Used the Q Spider for the 007 moment. Received 003's instructions but died due to a strange error before he could relay them. 020 - 25:36. The first known single O. Found the supply reserve. Learned of Naradova's betrayal the hard way. Died trying to save Serena. 021 - 26:31. Remembered he could shoot in the air, but got so excited about that that he forgot to catch Serena. 022 - 26:49. Tried to chase two rabbits. They both escaped. 023 - 26:56. Misjudged the spacing of a gap. 024 - 27:06. Got the gap but not the girl. 025 - 27:15. Realized he didn't know how to catch up to her. 026 - 27:23. Failed at a maverick strategy. 027 - 27:32. Saw a difference. The bad kind. 028 - 27:43. Replicated it. 029 - 27:48. FOUND THE SOLUTION - which is, of course, to kill everybody. Saved Serena, then had her drive a tank while he focused on firepower. Failed to realize one can switch weapons and died in a barrage of rockets. 030 - 29:12. Learned of the switching function and solved that problem easily. Had a close shave in the motorbike sequence but pulled it off in spectacular fashion. In so doing, he earned his Double O, which led to the re-expansion of the program. 0030 - 31:26. The same as Agent 030. Learns of Yayakov and is set to meet with Starling, but she directs him to his warehouse. Got his car trapped between a building and a lamppost, which propelled him from the vehicle, killing him. 0031 - 32:46. Had a breakthrough new idea to use the satnav to aid with tricky corners. Sadly, he wasn't looking at the road much, and collided with a civilian vehicle, causing a small family to suffer 0030's fate. 0031 was dismissed without pay as a result. 0032 - 33:24. Reached the warehouse and stole the truck, but forgot to put the car inside. Overhears of the plot to kill Yayakov. Due to his vehicle, however, he can't quite get the job done. 0033 - 36:06. Remedies 0032's mistake with little time to spare. Mercilessly uses missiles on the limo. Learns of the Kiss Kiss Club. Doesn't massage a lady, who alerts everyone, leading to his doom. 0034 - 38:00. Performs the massage. This gives him an edge, but unfortunately, it's too dull to cut through. 0035 - 38:30. Despite a bit of bumbling, is incredibly competent overall, reaching and defeating Jean la Rogue to rescue Agent Starling. Survives the plot of Speed. Uses RC cars ... effectively enough. Sadly, despite his successes, can't quite survive a close scrape and runs into a lamppost. 0036 - 42:31. Manages the escape. Dangerous ... ly horny. Executed for this crime. 0037 - 43:28. Overcomes low expectations and clings to life by a thread. Learns of the new ultradangerous plan for the nanobots. Then proceeds to walk into an electric shock. 0038 - 45:34. Dies the same way the original did: a damn lot of bullets. 0039 - 45:55. With a few close shaves, destroyed the processing cores, but was killed before the transformers could fall. 0040 - 46:40. Finished what 0039 started, killing, I believe, Yayakov. It was a blast. Suddenly, Jaws attacks! Hot in pursuit, 0040's motorcycle skills were good, but left something to be desired. 0041 - 48:56. Didn't drive a lot better, but it was enough; Jaws' tanker sinks. Learns why the nanobots don't target each other, gets a tech upgrade, and plans to participate in a race to get close to Diavolo. Then he walked into the lasers like an idiot. 0042 - 51:40. Finds the outfit and successfully wins the race. Unfortunately, the scheme was rumbled, and while his offense was impressive, his defense was not. 0043 - 54:13. His gunplay was solid. His fisticuffs? Another matter. Died by bullet spray. 0044 - 54:36. A sacrifice to the cause, willingly dying for knowledge and as a show of power. 0045 - 54:49. It worked, at 0045 completed the mission with incredible efficiency. However, the car was surrounded, and it was deemed a cut loss. The racecar would have to do, which it did despite a lack of armor. Escaping on the Q Bike, another path to the ruins had to be found. It was! But at the last moment, the entry was too small for the Q Bike standing. Sadly, this was not realized quite in time. 0046 - 57:09. Learning of the slide, it was used to get under. Sadly, he was intercepted by Naradova. But of course, the villain leaves Bond alone to die and he gets out. Sarcasm isn't metal. But his body was shredded as he slipped on a conveyor belt into a grinder. 0047 - 59:15. The crushers were stopped, and a narrow escape was made thanks to Sandra's copter. With Diavolo tearing through Russia, he gets an electronic takeover device and is tasked with stopping a deadly gas. Instead, he sets it off. Idiot. 0048 - 1:01:25. Thankfully, this one uses the nano shells. But then doesn't use them a moment later. 0049 - 1:02:43. And then this one creates basically a black hole. He rappels down it but then is killed by elite soldiers very quickly. 0050 - 1:03:28. He prolongs his life but does around the same thing. 0051 - 1:04:25. Doesn't even make it down the hole before becoming swiss cheese. Lol. 0052 - 1:04:49. Makes it through, but his escape plane is blown up. One brake control destruction later, SUDDENLY, JAWS ATTACKS; THE LONG-AWAITED SEQUEL. Rocket launcher beats flamethrower, and Bond uses the ejector seat to not die. His skills were admirable, but a new, invisible enemy type helps do him in. 0053 - 1:07:03. Despite taking several rockets, he makes it to Diavolo, where the nuclear warhead/nanobot switch is revealed. However, in a shock twist, Q's gadget fails him, costing him his life. 0054 - 1:08:54. The tech works this time, and the missiles are disabled. After dealing with an obstructon, he flees the room, where Diavolo's hoverjet awaits him ... armed. It's too much for any one man. 0055 - 1:10:10. But not too much for one man with a rocket lawn chair. Thanks to his own nanbots, Diavolo and Naradoya are sent plummeting to their doom, but the former ejects, re-activating a missile to send to London. Unforunately, Bond dies before relaying this. 0056 - 1:11:33. Does his best, but the opposition is overwhelming. 0057 - 1:12:34. Not as good as his predecessor. 0058 - 1:12:58. Pinned down by two snipers and a RAWCKET LAWNCHAH, there isn't much Bond could have done. 0059 - 1:13:58. He's methodical. Stragetic. But invisible, invicible enemies make things difficult. 0060 - 1:15:27. After trying the magical trick of "turning the difficulty down", you might think it was a breeze. But somehow, it seemed just as hard. 0061 - 1:15:58. What's a man gonna do about god enemies? 0062 - 1:16:47. He makes it through the hell room. He kills Diavolo. He destroys the missile. He gets the girl. His name is Bond. James Bond.

The entire 'it's actually a new agent' everytime James Bond respawn in the last checkpoint reminds me of that game where we play as the big bad, building hidden HQ, installing traps and hiring henchman to prevent secret agents from infiltrating our base. I recall one of the spy agencies' gimmick is that their agents are all officially one person-regardless of what happened to them, another agent bearing the same name and face will take their place-instilling the belief that this person is a super agent that never dies.

I love how Diavolo assumes that once he launches ICBMs that the rest of the world won't assume he just launched nukes at them and they won't launch their own nuclear arsenal at him. The implication that he plans to just conquers the rest of the world with platinum tanks and nanites was a better idea than that. Could have at least had him carve a country out of Russia and extort the world for recognition and minor power.

I remember playing this game at my local church's 'cyber cafe' club that ran after school when I was about 10. It was one of the games they had for the ps2 but was technically reserved for the older kids that came in after we had left - someone had left it out and we excitedly loaded it up, feeling very much like real spies. Finished the intro level before one of the members of the church came in and turned the ps2 off. I still remember the jet's goofy, missile-firing spin very fondly.

Game: Look at how well Bond snaps to cover! Isn't it nice to have functional cover? Anyway, make sure to use cover. It's very useful! RT: *runs straight at every enemy, making the game much more difficult for himself* Ah yes, never change. Can't wait for the sequel: Broad Bond in Thinderball!

after seeing rt struggle with the last mission i do not blame him at all. that mission was the bane of my existence. it sorta makes me feel better knowing im not the only one who had immense trouble

I feel like this kinda should have been a movie. I remember playing it (or watching my dad play it) as I kid and thinking there was no way it couldn’t be a movie already

EoN whipped ass the entire way through until, like, the final level. Seeing Daniel playing so intentionally intentionally obtusely? Amazing. 😂 HE DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE YOU CAN SPEED UP IN THE FALLING SECTION BY PRESSING DOWN. He never uses cover, no thermal vision and didn't use the tank gun. 😭

You need a gunner to man the gun, it's not on remote control or something Yeah, it's James Bond, but you can't ignore the basic logic - the tank's old too! So why in the tarnation would you change from your trusty minigun? And why in all that is despised upon can't you shoot these goons with the _brrr buzzsaw of death?_ *It can rip metal apart, for Christ's sake!*

this game is so hilariously ridiculous and honestly i feel like at that point it's almost intentional, it's like they rube-goldberg-machined the entire bond formula--

I remember a very long time ago when I was staying in a holiday house with my family and the house had an Xbox with this game, we didn't get very far through it though

I played this alot when I was a child. It was one of the only five games I had on the GameCube, so it became a staple from my childhood. thank you for reminding me of this game

Theory: what if James Bond actually died in his first missing, and they just keep sending out clones to finish the job? That would explain why Bond NEVER learns from his mistakes!

He's not a secret agent, he's an enforcement agent . Basically, he can make as much noise as he wants and he can tell everyone his name. It might be the last piece of information that they actually learn.

Surprised Diavolo didn't use his Stand at any point in this game. Probably couldn't wrap his head around how it works.

I kinda like that Q explains why the repelling cable doesn't set off the lasers itself.
