Clean the stainless head box inside the tape deck using cotton buds/ear cleaner with alcohol and the brown/black roller several times while the play button is on. I do this a lot with my old casette player.

And maybe the switch from radio to tape is dirty, so it sticks to both inputs. Maybe you should open it up and clean everything up with alcohol?

I think the problem is "cassette tape" deteriorated..... The actual player is fine

The problem is not with the cassette, but with the low speed of the motor. There must be a speed controller inside the player or in the engine itself. The gum may have already rotted away. It seems that it is still necessary to adjust the motor speed.

I got a really cool R2D2 cassette player a few years back to use with my Starpath Supercharger on my Atari 2600. You should look for one of those. They were made in the 90's and it's pretty cool. Even has a set of R2D2 sounds built into it.

When I first tested the whole set up I used my black body 2600. The one people refer to as a Vader. So with the Supercharger plugged into the Vader and connected to R2D2 I tested it and took some video of it working to post up on FB for friends to see. And I referred to it as Vader and R2D2 having a three way with a Statpath Supercharger.

With the cassette players it could be the rubber belt that needs changing. they can degrade over many years. I'd open them up and see. The belts can be bought on line from say ebay. also opening and putting electronics gadgets can sometimes fix issues.

Restorations videos are a thing , cause they are oddly satisfying to watch and they usually result in a clean, restored device that looks almost brand new. Maybe you dive into this topic, Riff? Cause it really can restore and extend the life of your electronic stuff! :D

The problem with that cassette player is the rubber drive belt, it gets stretched or turns to goo over the years, that's why it sounds weird. It's pretty common problem for walkmans and boomboxes that are decades old. Just open it up, replace the belt (they are dirt cheap), and you're good to go.

The end pieces seems to be used to split the controls in player 1 and 2 separately. You split the control board in half, then use the end pieces to make two separate controllers..... perhaps?

Awesome pickups Aaron! The radio looks like it needs the rubber bands replaced for the tape deck. It also seems like a diode is broken since the radio also plays. I think I've seen madlittlepixel do a review of that arcade stick a few months ago.

Cool video Riff! FYI, if you add more muscle to your frame you will automatically start burning more calories throughout the day because that extra muscle needs to be fed. So do more weight/resistance training and consume more proteins to add the muscle and then the same cardio training will end up burning more cals!

Yeah, I’m interested in gamer fitness. I was doing well with dance fitness for a while, but then covid screwed things up. So I’ve fallen out out of that habit. Also, I kind of love food too much, but I’m going to try to limit my carbs & portions again. I’m going to at least do my push-ups and crunches too. Idk. It’s hard, man.
