Everything the new Blowtorch can do in DayZ 1.19

The blowtorch is a new addition to DayZ 1.19 and is very unique for a tool that can repair items. However, it can also light fireplaces and torch, and repairs some items that have never been repairable before. These items include the cooking pot, frying pan, barrel, spot light, generator and metal plate. I also test what the new blowtorch cannot do in DayZ update 1.19.

they should definitely allow us to cauterize wounds with this thing, but at the cost of extreme shock damage. maybe even a new "burned" status that makes things take longer to interact with, causes the "moaning in pain" sound regularly, and makes aiming harder with shakes of pain, burns could be none life threatening and be cured by keeping them sterile with disinfectant or alcohol tincture, or could become wound infections when left in contact with dirty clothing low quality clothing, not dressed, and not sterilized.

@@michaelc3550 you can always get caught out, lit up with a sporter or something and between having a bandage or two ruined and getting alot of bleeds you can absolutely run short. how often do people find themselves needing to use a sewing kit to fix a bleed? probably very infrequently too! but having the option to is nice as a backup if something goes horridly wrong, for example, if your bandages get ruined in a firefight you barely survive.

In real life though, spark plugs pretty much never go “out” unless heated to the point they melt. If otherwise, all you have to do is “clean” them with a degreaser and light grade sand paper. I have did this many times. But for Dayz, that’s tricky If the blow torch could “fix” a spark plug. When when a spark plug usually goes out from the residues (real life). But, the residues could possibly burnt off (game theory thinking) for Dayz. Kinda difficult, but I believe Dayz could swing, for the blow torches to work, for fixing spark plugs.

Spark plugs occasionally widen the spark gap as time goes on You can heat the tip up and bend it back But it should take a electric repair kit to pristine a spark plug

Yeah it sucks, I didn't have an issue prior to 1.19, no I'm jumping all over the place when driving, it's a shame because the actual "feel" of the vehicles seems better, when they're not jumping all over lol

@@johnnygeorgopoulos4072 yeah the Humvee feels awesome. However sometimes it just stays in neutral even when you shift, so you need to get out & in again and it un-bugs I guess. Other times you put it in drive but it stays in neutral so you destroy the engine. I killed the V3S going up a single hill... they literally broke that truck. Last time I ever had an issue with vehicles was before 1.0 update.

@@IFarmBugs yeah the Humvee is doing the same with me, I've noticed it will do it less often if you make sure you turn it off while in neutral only, same with starting it, make sure it's in neutral before doing so. It'll still occasionally do it when switching between reverse and drive , make sure you come to a complete stop before switching gears, seems if you do above, it helps reduce the amount it will "freeze up" drastically.

Have you had vehicles get stuck in place on practically nothing forcing you to relog, only for you to find out the entire vehicle is missing? This happened to me and my friends two times, once with an Olga and then with a Humvee. My friend driving the Humvee had a Series X and got glitched out and stuck in place on a tree I cut down for wooden planks. Don't drive over cut down trees or debris, you will not be able to interact with the vehicle or the player and killing the driver to try and pull them out will only cause the player to respawn when they relog whilst not preventing vehicle despawn. I much preferred my vehicles suddenly lagging and veering off road versus Cherarusian David Copperfield making it disappear with all the loot inside it.

High-pop & low-cost servers turn vehicles into rocket ships in this game. Apparently it was to prevent cheaters, but I think that's just a piss-poor excuse. There are other mechanisms that could have been implemented to prevent that.

Well… glad I looked this up 😂 That’s freaking awesome. My girlfriend and I got the game recently on Xbox and started playing together. She has a cooking pot and I have a skillet as well as a blowtorch. Wasn’t sure if it was worth keeping, but sounds like it absolutely is.

Blowtorch could be used to hardend steel on axes, hatchets etc. After using a sharping stone to increase condition then use blowtorch to harden the edge and increase the durability of the shrapen edge. If afrer harden and edge hits metal or stone then edge is damaged or chipped. Metal becomes brittle after heat treat but wear surface is stronger.

Kinda wish the blowtorch was more resist to damage after use, I fixed an engine from Badly damaged to worn and the blowtorch was badly damaged

Shame they didn't add "cauterizing wounds closed," with the torch.... why? Especially because over a year ago guys over in the DayZ Modders Discord (now Enfusion Modders Discord) said to have found the cauterization sounds(if I can recall, definitely something related to cauterization of wounds) inside the game workings. Wonder if they plan on adding it next patch, would definitely be cool, especially if it being able to avoid wound infection if used instead of using an non disinfected bandage or rag.

i found some metal bars on banov that looks like they block off an are (they don't its just the end of the map) would be super cool if you could heat them up then break them with a pickaxe or sledgehammer to access an area behind them

Was hoping to use it for repairs on my metal walls, as sometimes randoms like to beat on the first gate for a while, but noticed my worn metal made a prestine wall anyways, now ill use it for my dilapidated barrels instead 😆 Was also hoping to repair wire and barbed wire too, but no worries. You would think it would be a good tool to get the barb off a gate before raiding... When i raid with hand tools i HATE when he steps into that wire while swinging 😁

Can it light fires under harsher conditions (aka inside a snow/rainstorm without cover)? As the temperature is higher it would make somewhat sense and would make the blowtorch a nice emergency tool even if the fuelcost is higher.

Cauldron has been around for a while. It's a seasonal event item like Santa's beard and witch hats. It's part of the Halloween seasonal event. Keep your eyes peeled for bonfires (seasonal dynamic event, must be activated server side in events.xml).

I love this game. I wish they would improve the animations a bit. Like fall down animations and stuff when someone falls or gets killed. Maybe have a bit of dismemberment. Stuff like that

A sewing kit is thread.. Yes for the needles but the thread which needs disinfected also would just go on fire instantly when put near any fire source never mind a fucking blow torch.

Blowtorches should be able to repair humvee chassis, because they ruin to easily, and it should take like 2 gas canisters to fix a chassis completely

I ran into an issue w the blowtorch today. game crashed and i logged back in to find my car flipped on its side, rad and spark plug ruined. Thats nothing new. The engine was bright yellow so i took out the blowtorch and got the prompt to repair it, began repairing it (blue glowing light and all) but then the server reset. when i got back in, i couldnt use the blowtorch on the engine :( both the blowtorch and fuel canister were only damaged, and the engine was bright yellow, so i am at a loss. I tried removing engine components one at a time to see if i could get the repair prompt again, tried logging in and out as well. Has anyone else had this?

The GPS uses latitude, longitude, and Elevation. Or X, Y, Z. When you turn it on it gives you 2 numbers. The first numbers is your latitude or X that is your horizontal location on the map and the Y or longitude is the Vertical location on the map.let's say your X is 034. Then you look at your Y or longitude. Let's say it's 014. Now look at you map. On the edge of the map to should see numbers and a grid. Find 034 on the Lat or X, 014 on the long or Y, and you would be in Sinystock. 👍🏻 and Elevation just tells you how high above sea level you are. No real need for it.
