I loved the walk to Pontevedra. In the forest where the statues were there were two pop up cafes. I noticed they were not there when you were there. There was also a bagpipe player but I missed him sadly. That was September last year.

Really great editing and tons of useful information... but I just have to say, Lisa, I think the key to your Camino needs to be a café con leche every day!! (or several) :) One of my very favorite rituals on the Camino.

Exactly, Berger King or McDonald's feels wrong in Spain or Portugal, but they're a franchise. ...I wouldn't eat that in any case.

Can't wait for September to come. I'm sure I'll figure this out when I'm there. Wonder if there are restrooms along the way other than at cafes. Or maybe I'm worrying about that too much 🤣

this is the second video of y'all's that i am watching. lol. i think as an oldster, this camino...but starting in tui instead, is going to be one i will try to tackle. do you have any advice about starting in tui vs porto? also in terms of time off i can get this is the more likely one to happen in my life at this point. ps can you address bio breaks (ie using/finding a loo) whilst camino-ing?? thanks...

Hello, thanks for sharing! I’ll do the same trip in May. Do you think is better to stay the hole way in the coast route? I am really in doubt here… 😫 Dont you think there more history and beatiful villages in the country way?

Love the recap and practical advice. A nap? Cool! But eating late and having that nap, you still sleep at night? Do some pilgrims make midday meal their big meal? I guess you might miss out on some yummy food doing that? Hummm…

Man we just missed you guys. We’re a day out from Porto. Started in Lisbon. It’s been up and down so far. Two questions for ya. 1) how many miles did you average per day? 2) since you loved the coastal route, we’re the distances of each stage tough or pretty manageable? Thanks in advance!

Hi. Is there a LOT of busy road on the central route? Also, is it easy to find accommodation? I'm thinking of walking it in January. Thanks.

How many Km’s/miles are you guys walking a day.? I’m doing the Frances in mid-October this year.. I’m a bit worried about less daytime hours..I’m nervous.. tgat I gotta leave at 6 or 7am {gasp} in the Dark with a headlamp to be able to knock out say 20kms to be able to get to the Albergues by 1 or 2pm to get a bed 😮-ideas.. suggestions… I’ve only got 5 days… of course I could do 10kms a day… if I had two weeks.. so I’m crunched on time- days and daily mileage.{🙏ideas?}
@LisaAndJosh
@LisaAndJosh Жыл бұрын
we walked about 15-20 km / 8-10 miles a day, sometimes less, but met plenty of people along the Portuguese and Frances routes that walked less and were always able to find a spot in the albergues. We walked the Frances in August, so I think it was the busiest time, way more people than typical. so I wonder if in mid October, it will be less busy or hot. The best advice we received was so walk at our own pace and find a place in a way that was comfortable to us. we found that booking a place in advance was more our style, others would walk and find a place whenever they were ready to stop. we found that no matter the busyness, there was always an albergue spot open for someone. :)

Just curious.... what happens if you do need to do a No.2 in between hostels / stops? Just wondering if there are any tips or "unspoken" rules?

Three days before I leave for Porto but I have done the Norte, two years ago. To answer your question. Luckily, my body was on a timer, and this wasn't an issue for me, but one time in the country I had to do it, and I found a side road that wasn't used much that had sides to it that also hid me, but I did it right there in the middle of this dirt road/trail. I do recall seeing other people off to the side and down off the trail doing their stuff and they had lookouts to help keep them safe. Also timing it to happen during a break or lunch where there were bathrooms.

@@jackg7225 Hi Jack!! Thank you soo much for your response, really appreciate it and yes, I see.... so pretty much "go with the flow" kinda thing a guess!! ;o) So ideal situation is to train the body clock! Got it! Exciting to hear you're about to do you 2nd one! Hope it all goes well! So you chose this month cause of the weather? or because of the timing of your holidays?

@RobertVicencio I spent 5 days in Porto in August waiting for my ride home 2 yrs ago, and knew it was too warm for me, so I considered last fall and that quickly went by, so spring time was appealing to me.
