The people have spoken, and the people wanted the damn Dark Knight trilogy completed. So this week we bring you the sins of Batman Begins. Hopefully you're happy now, but probably not.
For those of you asking, Conversations & Recipes are both on short hiatus, and will likely return sometime soon. Or not. In the meantime, we have some other stupid sh*t we've might show you. Or not.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we recount next? Merch: teespring.com/stores/cinemasi...

+CountArtha Did he actually have friends at that point? He was gone for 7 years and was at a hotel-buying dinner with his board of directors and that's it. Most of the people at his mansion also appeared to be employees of his company. Not exactly the folks who would have to think twice before going to any event of their employer regardless of how many times he insults them.

+Christian Hoffmann Ever read The Great Gatsby? They make a point of how quickly all manner of fair weather friends come crawling out of the woodwork if you have the fanciest mansion and throw the biggest party. Bruce is the richest man in town, probably by a wide margin, and in the high society that is what matters. None of them probably count as real friends anyway, if he was poor they wouldn't give him the time of day.

3:55 An even better question is: why did Bruce do that in the first place? He just as easily could have fed them all some bullshit about a gas leak in the house. That would get them all out much faster, much more easily, and it would justify the fact that the place would later burn down. Bruce Wayne is really smart, except when he isn't.

+John Laite Hardly... Baleman puts up a big la-de-da about not killing, but he killed about 30 ninjas, including fake Ra's, when he burned the fortress down... and didn't bother to get that guy out of the building either, you know, the guy he refused to kill... chances are high he died in that fire too. Then kills Ra's by not saving him. Not to mention Two-face, Talia, and the host of goons he killed in the sequels. The Nolan movies are good movies, but they are an absolute shitfest of an adaptation.
@g.e.o.r.g.e...
@g.e.o.r.g.e... 8 жыл бұрын
Samur/Aye Studios I don't think you can definitively say that ANY ninjas died in that explosion, since we only see a few of them get injured on camera. Chances are they were all saved by their comrades in the same way as Ducard/Ra's (minus jumping out of a window facing a sheer cliff). Fake Ra's got crushed by a log because he insisted on fighting in a burning building. If you watch their duel again, you'll see that Bruce is dodging and parrying everything, and his only offensive attacks are kicks, trips and pushes. On numerous occasion he gains the upper hand, once even taking Fake Ra's back... He chooses not to fight. Even if you consider it to be 100% Bruce's fault, that was pre-Batman Batman. You could argue that it further solidified his credo. Also, Real Ra's killed *himself*, along with help from Jimmy Gordon. Accidentally killing Two-Face probably had a big impact on him. I don't know if he could ever live that down. That's what makes it a tragic movie, all the lengths he went to for Harvey and it all ends with a stupid slip and him landing awkwardly on his neck... while the Joker gets to live. I personally don't consider The Dark Knight Rises. In my eyes Nolan didn't make a trilogy, so nothing in that movie really matters to me.

The entire reason Batman exists is because, as a child, Bruce Wayne was an asshole. If, when Rachel showed him the arrowhead, he hadn't grabbed it from her and ran away he wouldn't have fallen down the well, broken his arm and been scared by bats. He wouldn't have had his parents take him out of the opera when the bat-costumed actors scared him and his parents wouldn't have been murdered in the alley.

brian sheehan as far as i can see in that scene, it just Batman standing in middle of the group while waving his arms around. I rather see rapid editing while thugs flying around everywhere and maybe a shadow here and there to show he taking them on rather than that.

Okay for everyone who takes these sins seriously, here's most of the things that are not wrong with Batman Begins in one comment or less: 1. DC is not a sins 2. Liam Neeson will kill some people in this movie, just chill. 3. Bruce's father does not know that his son his afraid of Bats. Bruce only mentions it years later. 4. Thomas Wayne is empathetic towards the lower classes of Gotham and rides public transportation without fear of being mugged or confronted, and therefore should be comfortable exiting a graffiti ridden alley. 5. Boo...too soon. 6. Nipple bed is never a sin. 7. Where did he learn that? Experience.

The thing that got me was when Batman pulled his "I won't kill you, but I don't have to save you" line. I know there's a lot of disagreement over whether letting someone die when you could have saved them is the same as killing them, but I like to think that if Batman was so dead set on never killing anyone, he wouldn't just let them die. Look at Batman in Arkham City, when he tells the Joker that, even after everything he's done, he'd still give him the antidote when he could have just let the disease take him. Two different versions of the story, I know, but still worth mentioning, I think.
@mrpotato3522
@mrpotato3522 9 жыл бұрын
drivetwister Nolan's Batman seriously broke the number one rule of Batman, I hated that too. If Batman can just let Ra's die since it's not "killing" then why would he even save joker or any other criminal in the comics. If he can choose between who should live and die, then he can basically shoot any villain he faces and shrug it off.

@ThisAdamGuy
@ThisAdamGuy 9 жыл бұрын
It kind of is a critical thing, though. they spent the whole movie pounding it into our heads that Batman will never kill people, but then have him promptly go back on it the first time it's convenient. I think a better way to have done that is with the Joker in Dark Knight. Batman could have broken his code, let the Joker die, and then THAT was what made him go into hiding for eight years in Rises- he broke his one rule and didn't think he was worthy of being Batman anymore. The first movie was too soon for that to happen, and he made that decision too easily.

Another sin which I just now realized is how at the beginning, Wayne decided he didn't want to kill the prisoner during his final initiation into the League of Shadows, yet he decided to blow up the entire dojo killing everyone inside INCLUDING the chained prisoner. So instead of saving the prisoner from the hundreds of deadly explosions, he decides the save the man (Ra's Al Ghul) willing to destroy Gotham from the inside out and leave him to live with an old asian man, knowing his plan for the city. Bruce Wayne ladies and gentlemen, a genius.

How is this then a problem in the film, to use a device that contains a real world equivalent? The truth is, there is nothing inconsistent about the device in the film. For all intents and purposes, it exists in the real world.
