Also, TV Sins here: / @tvsins
You loved it, everyone loved it, it's one of the highest-grossing films of 2014... but, like all films, Guardians of the Galaxy still has some sins. Sit back, put in your favorite 70's tune, and groove to the sins of an admittedly-rather-groovy film.

I feel like most of the major plot-hole sins were actually explained after the release of the movie, mostly in GOTG 2. A lot of unbelievable stuff that Peter does is explained by having a Celestial dad. Yandu showed up when Peter's mom died because he couldn't show up before she did. I don't know where I heard this, but the place the Power Stone is stored is usually flooded, only becoming accessible once every 500 years or so. So yeah, it figures that anyone after it would arrive at approximately the same time.

Since you asked, here's how space is a lot less instantly fatal that movies often portray it as. tl;dr - You can survive about 4 minutes and hours if you have an oxygen supply. Alright, so let's say a human body finds itself in the vacuum of space, not unlike poor ol' Starlord here. What happens to it? The first thing you need to know is how non-solid matter behaves in a vacuum; it rushes to fill the area until it it evenly spread, helped along by the fact there is no major sources for gravity to tether it together. For the human body, which is just over 60% water, this is generally a very worrying experience. Thankfully, we have an epidermis, our skin, which works in keeping it all contained, as well as muscles and bones to keep us structurally sound. The majority of the water we are made up of is located in three major sections, the heart, the lungs, and blood within. Let's start with the heart. The actual heart is a muscle, a solid material. Despite all the blood within it, it is able to keep its shape and continue functioning during this time of stress on the human body. The blood would be the major culprit, however it is transported in veins, arteries, and capillaries, all of which are solid enough to withstand multiple atmospheres of pressure, or the lack thereof, as evidenced by the ability to swim more than 10 meters deep without spontaneously failing. You would have flushed skin from dilatations, and may have some slight tenderness from mild bruising, but only from the smallest and weakest capillaries being unable to take the pressure, likely due more to lifestyle than the negative atmosphere. A healthy human would not suffer these adverse effects. The lungs would be the major failing point. They're filled with smaller blood vessels, but injuries from a vacuum to these would not be major. After all, the blood is almost in contact with the space inside the lungs, so their rupture would reduce its ability to circulate, but the exchange of gasses would be able to be resumed. The gasses, however, would be the much larger issue. With a vacuum in the environment, the gasses in your lungs would expand to fill the void, and would cause a major build up in pressure if they had no way to escape. If you did not exhale, the gasses previously held in your lungs would expand and rupture the lungs! Now, that's not to say they would pop like a balloon. The weakest section of one of your lungs' tissue would tear, and those gasses would be released into your chest cavity, a much sturdier environment that could withstand the pressure. Being connected, your other lung would pass gasses through the esophagus to its twin, saving one of your lungs. The shock to your system would cause you to gasp involuntarily, inadvertently removing the gasses from your body when in a vacuum. If you're going into space, scream first! A torn lung is not fatal, but it is a serious condition! The only other liquid system in your body that would be effected are the eyes. The inside of your eyes is semi-liquid, and the outer shell is malleable. Your eyes wouldn't pop, but they would deform, and your sight would be blurry until your received a prolonged rest, allowing them to recover. While not necessarily liquid, your waste system's muscles and sphincters would be put to a test. Those with a weak bladder control or anus control would find the situation more uncomfortable than otherwise. So, if the vacuum won't kill you (aside from suffocation) then what about the temperature? Surely you'd freeze! Not so. There is no efficient way for a human body to lose heat from contact, as there are far, FAR too few many particles surrounding it. Provided you were visible to a star, you'd never freeze in outer space. In a solar shadow, you'd lose body heat at a rate so slow that it would take over 24 hours for a human body to reach 32°F. Oxygen? The brain can survive just over six minutes without oxygen before brain death occurs. Brain damage is less forgiving, and can occur under five minutes. Radiation, then? Radiation will kill you in the coming months, right? Perhaps. A single chest X-Ray gives about 0.0014Gy (Greys) of radiation. Every minute in space, and not in a solar shadow, you receive an amount of radiation equal to three chest X-Rays. A human will start to feel the effects at 0.35Gys, suffer more permanent damage as blood cells die at 1Gy, and 4Gys can be fatal. You'd need to be in the vacuum of space for approximately 83 minutes before you'd receive adverse effects from radiation similar to the flu. A human exposed to space would suffer from blurry eyes, a lower core temperature, tender skin, and may have to change their pants. For a superhero that is half super-dad he'd be walking in no time at all, with nothing more than a headache, fuzzy vision, and a newfound respect for oxygen.

Thanos can't use the power stone in the same way that a Celestial can, at least not in the MCU. The fact that Thanos needs a special gauntlet just to control the powers of the stones properly should reflect that. Any other celestial can just use any of the stones to their full power with no issues. Its because the Celestials are basically gods, Thanos is just a mortal.

7:47 I've always wondered about the stones like this, these stones were so powerful singlehandedly before thanos, it was strange how weak it was with him compared to its original form. Maybe the stones got weaker by size? When the celestials used the stones it was much much stronger but always a whole lot bigger, yet when thanos used it, it could only take a moon down by wave instead of well just taking it down in general (sorry if I worded that out wrong, please correct me) because it was literally the size of a pebble.
@tak9273
@tak9273 2 жыл бұрын
i guess the best answer is that the celestials are powerful beings so they can use the stones to its full potential, although thanos is powerfull using the 6 stones to do the snap is already too much for him, in end games he almost die just for using the stones to destroy the stones

Just my contribution to the sin count 👍🏻

7:54 The Reason Thanos didn’t use the Power Stone in infinity War to kill everyone is because he DIDNT want to kill everyone. He ONLY wanted to kill Stark and Thor because those were the only people that were Threats to him. (He killed Vision & Gamora because he had to, and he killed Loki because he lied to him).
