I have no idea which movie in the Saw franchise Jigsaw is. I'm pretty sure it's not the one with Chris Rock. But it's sinful as hell!
Next week: animated spooky sins & horror sequel sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

I will never understand how a franchise about a killer obsessed with rehabilitation fails to ever acknowledge the % of rare survivors of these “games” somehow end up involved in Jigsaw’s murdering schemes. Feels like an opportunity for meta commentary. But bc they don’t, it makes me think they don’t even see the irony. There’s only really been one over reference to this when the lady asks what she’s supposed to learn from being an amputee but jigsaw is better at producing monsters than rehabilitated people.
@codecyt

I think it was referenced in some deleted scenes from saw 3, where john thinks he'll only be remembered for being a monster. Amanda says something similar in the movie.
@thefriesofLockeLamora
@thefriesofLockeLamora 8 ай бұрын
I think they know but execs think audiences wouldn't like a meta commentary movie because they think it wouldn't do well profitably, maybe because of the comparisons to Scream. They want a tried and true method where the franchise sells enough by doing the same thing over and over again.
@GeorgeMonet

It is because of how totally impossible it is that any of this is even happening and how hard they keep trying to tie this back to John despite how totally impossible that is. The guy died like 6 weeks after being diagnosed with cancer and then trying to kill himself but according to the logic of all these movies put together he would have had to lived for 10 years after being diagnosed with cancer.

Nah, it was because John Kramer got cancer, and was angry that people weren't taking their lives seriously and wasting it. He only truly learned how to appreciate life when he found out it was ending, so in his messed up mind, he thinks that by putting people in situations they might die that if they have the will to live and survive they'll appreciate life more. Has nothing to do with his doctor, especially since it's been reconned many times that the Doctor wasn't his first victim. In fact, he had many victims before the doctor.

ALSO if Logan was supposed to be an apprentice to Jigsaw but John didn’t realize until Logan didn’t wake up from his trap then when was Logan supposed to die if he had woken up? He had no tape. Did John just frantically start running around the barn taking tapes back and resetting traps?

The biggest sin is that the main game takes places 10 years prior and the movie implies it’s johns first game so in 2004 ish John somehow got flat screen HD tvs and billy LED lights for his game but once saw 1 comes around he goes to CRT. obviously it’s the movie trying to make it like it’s in the present day but once the twist wears off it makes no sense. It’s an anachronism

This franchise really went overboard with the number of apprentices John had and all the time jumping really emphasizes that they know they dropped the ball killing John off. Also admittedly hilarious they brought Cary Elwes back for one movie when the lawsuit was wrapped up just to never mention his character again at any point in the next 3 sequels.
@JamestheXennial

This movie is "Saw in Name Only." Absolutely nothing in the overriding plot of the movie necessitated having a Jigsaw game happening "concurrently." It was literally there SOLELY to trick the audience and had zero relevance to the plot at all. And for the love of Christ, how did Logan: kidnap Edgar from a busy hospital, kill him (and cut a jigsaw piece out of him), haul the body to Kramer's grave site, dig that coffin up by himself, take Jigsaw's remains out, put Edgar's corpse inside, seal the coffin back up, fill all the dirt back into the burial plot, and take Kramer's remains away without ANYONE noticing? You would have to think with the public panicking like they are, that people would be visiting that grave site constantly just to see for themselves. It is beyond absurd how fast and loosely they play with time in these idiotic movies.
@jacobstaten2366

The laser thing bothered me because it's so tiny compared to real life, you can't see the beam in real life, it vaporizes the steam in the body so it bloats up rather than slicing cleanly like a blade. They also have a shallow focal plane so you would have to have it very close to the surface and it would need a computer telling it to change the focus and go deeper.
@Ryan_Thompson
@Ryan_Thompson 8 ай бұрын
Invisible (IR) lasers don't make for a good visual effect, and most movie fans are well-acquainted with the fictional idea of deadly visible spectrum lasers that cut like light sabers. Sometimes producers have to make decisions in order to tell a story. I'm fine with this one. Although the rest of the movie was shit. lol

@@Ryan_Thompson it does create world building issues though. The fact that these exist in this universe in such a small size and cheap enough that he can afford multiple means they would almost definitely have been used as a weapon at some point even if it's only a foot long range, it's deadlier and more concealed than a knife. One part I'm really confused by is that Logan used a sniper/marksman rifle to shoot the dude with the remote, and everyone else was shooting him with pistols. Yet somehow this never came up? 0:58 It doesn't look like a paint bucket though, not a modern one anyway. It's flared, like a truncated cone shape, with added corrugation for strength, while paint buckets are usually cylindrical and uniform. And paint buckets have a rolled lip for you to hammer the lid back on, maybe except for some really old vintage ones. These just look like regular metal pails used in construction and around the house. It seems much more likely that the pail was flipped upside down and used as a platform for a proper paint bucket so the painter didn't have to bend over as far to dip their brush (or roller, assuming they don't have a roller tray). Of course, that would be a lot of spillage for it to run all the way down the paint bucket and onto the upside-down pail underneath. But my point is that it would be equally strange for someone to take paint out of a paint bucket and pour it into a (potentially dirty) generic metal pail like that.

Aaaand this is why I hated this and Spiral. Both movies misunderstood several elements, how Jigsaw never took trophies, that John wasn't a better person as Zep, or that John had a plan to punish Amanda and Hoffmann. Spiral leaned into a Hoffmann-like killer as a successor.

‘Spiral’ is definitely not a masterpiece. Chris Rock was not meant for the role. The traps did not look like they were meant to be escaped. It drifted so far away from the basis of the games.

11:59 That’s the same three side stories from that one newspaper front page back in Saw IV. So in ten years’ time, the wedding was cancelled and uncancelled all over again, the bay spewed out major discoveries in decade-long intervals, and that damn lair still isn’t answering questions!

About the top of the head not being in the bucket, wouldn’t the bucket have blocked the saws and stopped them from doing damadge to the head?

I'm thinking the blade would have sliced through the bucket and the victim's head. But the bucket is completely intact, so yeah that doesn't make sense either. That bothered me when I watched it, and I thought "If the victim's head it sliced in half, why is the bucket intact?"

Few things bothered me about this one. First off it tries to replicate the same twist Saw 2 did only lazier. Second while I've never been married nor do I have kids why the f*** would Anna's husband be charged so harshly if "he" accidentally killed their baby? Do police not think it's suspicious that she was already awake out of bed while he was fast asleep and seemingly didn't recall their baby in bed with them? I know it just shows us how evil Anna really was but from a criminal standpoint her husband shouldn't have been charged like that Also and more importantly Hannah Emily Anderson isn't my Jigsaw fan girl in this scene 😅
