This movie would have been a tolerable amount of stupid fun if they'd cleaned up the editing, turned on some lights, and had an actual soundtrack instead of the same theme played 35 times.

I got mad after the 5th time hearing the same stupid guitar riff, so I agree, ESPECIALLY regarding the music. The electric guitar does not make this movie more edgy. It makes it more shit. The editing and dark sets didn't need any help doing that.

i liked the movie, fur what it was. mind you i have a strange sense ov what i find enjoyable in a movie lol i think if you got drunk with some friends and put this movie on itd be a lot o fun, probably the best possible time you could have with it is just taking the piss out ov it all.

I worked on the train scene from the very beginning through the filming of it. During the filming we were fed very well. The whole train crew, usually 10 to 15 people, ate in the VIP tents. All the heavy black smoke was because the director wanted it that way. Even after I informed him that the heavy black smoke was the opposite of what was normal. I forgot what the budget was but it did not gross anywhere near what it cost to make. I heard it won some kind of award for the least return on capital investment for 2010. But I had one hell of a good time working with some very talented people. While they were building the 6 cars for the train in our yard, finding the location for the train scene, to running the steam engine for about half of the time it operated, which was 13 days.

@@Masada1911 Oh yes, the experience and memories are priceless. Including the satisfaction and pride in our crew from LASTA and our Steam Locomotive, SPX 745, for a job well done. Other than for one “call of nature” we did not delay the training, rehearsal, or filming of the movie at all. What few mechanical problems we had, with the almost 90 year old Steam Locomotive, were minor and we were able to take care of them during breaks in the filming or after the end of filming each day. She was born in February of 1921. The production company only took one Sunday off and we used it for servicing, inspection, and a few repairs.

In my opinion, and a lot of others that saw it, it was a good movie. It was very short, at 72 minutes, if I remember correctly. And they left a lot of good scenes on the cutting room floor. About a month or so after the movie came out, I heard some of the higher ups in the production company saying it would have done much better if it was around 2 hours long and rated R instead of PG-13.

Been reading Jonah Hex since the 70’s and even visited this movie set on a press junket. During the fort scene they use the same shot twice of a henchman in the hallway. Also, they inverted the characters motivation. Turnbull never murdered Hex’s family, never scarred Hex and Hex never tried to hunt him down. Also, one soldier gets ‘electrocuted’ by telegraph wires. They don’t carry that much electricity. The commentary track on this film is actually more interesting than this movie.

Funner (and longer!) fact: All-Star Western was originally called All-Star Comics (the title dates back to the 1940s), then later became All-Star Western when they shifted focus to cowboys (Jonah debuted in ASW#10), then it finally changed to Weird Western Tales with issue #12 because DC decided to rename a bunch of titles with the word *Weird* in them. All-Star Western didn't return as a title until 2011, though All-Star Comics briefly resurfaced in the early 2000s.

My dad actually has some old issues of the Jonah Hex comics from back in the 70's, and I remember flipping through them one day and thinking it was a pretty neat western. Then I saw this movie, and it was the furthest thing from the source material I've ever seen. When the actor who starred in a movie even hates that movie, you know it's garbage.

When I was a kid, there was this superhero puppet show where every time someone said his name, a little guitar jingle would play. One time his name was said again and again, until he got fed up and told the musicians to knock it off, then the band got on stage saying how they're not paid enough for this and left. Anyway, this movie does that with that guitar riff without any of the self-awareness.

I actually like some elements of this movie. There was the talking of the Dead which I found very interesting that they had it and the revenge story included too. This could have been a great time because this was in the late 1800's.

I don’t know what’s worse, the obnoxious rock music score constantly blaring in the background of this WESTERN, or the fact that this movie is so darkly lit that you’ll mostly just be watching your own reflection unless you watch it in the dark.

The sad thing is, Quentin Turnbull in the comics *doesn't* want to take over the world. He's a Southern plantation owner with way too much money and influence who just wants Jonah Hex to suffer and die. Does he come up with grandiose schemes to do so? Yes, but none of them have involved blowing up the Capitol with glowing Dragonballs.

It's one of the most goshawful things I've ever seen. They took one of DC's most badass characters, (and the only cowboy character in comics who's actually still around), and made one of the most disgracefully terrible films in recent memory. Nonsensical superpowers, a generic revenge tale, and some seriously forced and cringe-inducing dialogue. Just avoid it and save yourself the trouble.
