My brother in law suggested that when she's kicked in the abdomen and the drugs enter her system, that the rest of the movie is just her drug trip as she's slowly poisoned to death by it. It explains pretty much EVERYTHING, and makes the movie just barely tolerable.

Raven XD perfect, then we both can have a genuine discussion of how much we hate this movie. Cinema sins’ video got a good chunk of what I found to be sins of this movie, but there was actually so much more that he missed. One of the sins that I believed should of gotten a few sins was when she kissed that police officer. Like, seriously? Are the writers so bad that they literally had to SQUEEZE a 15 second clip of them into the movie to ATTEMPT to make the audience feel any sort of emotion for Lucy? Like what!? It boggles my mind how this is, literally, the worst movie I have ever watched in my entire life. I cannot even emphasize that enough. I feel like I could genuinely write a whole essay as to why this movie was utter garbage... but I won’t.... because I have exams next week...

My point isn't about clashing opinions, I know opinions differ, that's okay, your point would be valid if we were talking about our opinions of the movie, but I wasn't talking about that, I was talking about the way I watch it. but it's not necessarily about opinions, it's about the way somebody does something. It doesn't matter how powerful your brain gets: it will not give you superpowers if you don't have the physical capability. It's like saying if your brain gets strong enough, you can pump blood without a heart, or extract oxygen without lungs, or break down food without a digestive tract. You need some kind of mechanism to generate the effect you want.

I was thinking along those lines. Increased memory, DNA manipulation, and being able to see energy are plausible but everything else bs. Maybe traveling through time mentally could be possible but physically we are limited.

It was. Also, in France, you can't really just punch a person through a wall because the walls are usually made of, you know, concrete and other very durable materials. in the USA, they use those easy-to-break dry-walls, but that's not how they build in Europe. So, if she threw the guy through that wall, she killed him. Nice.

I'm gonna be completely honest: I completely, unironically loved most of what this movie did. Trust me, I am among the many here who knows the whole 10% thing is bullshit. Hell, I made a few jokes about it with my friend when I saw it, but goddamn it, did I enjoy it. I enjoyed it because it took an idea that admittedly made no scientific sense but rode it out anyways, and did the best job it could at pretending it made sense. I enjoyed it because I liked the characters, and how it's fascinating how Lucy loses herself (and she does lose herself; the movie doesn't brush over the fact that Lucy's behaviour is cruel and inhuman at times, hell, that's sort of its point). And I enjoyed it because it's probably the closest thing we're gonna get to a standalone female superhero movie, at least until Marvel pulls that giant flaming cactus out of their ass and makes a fucking Black Widow movie. Goddammit, Marvel.

It's true that Scarlett Johansson was great (-20 sins for that, at least), and that there are too few action movies with female leads. I thought Lucy was a missed opportunity though: the premise and scientific exposition could have been easily improved to make it much better movie.

Illier1 Look it tried to deliver a message about existance,"reality" and humanity and such in less than 2 hours, of course it is sloppy and brute because appart from that it needed to keep a fast and furious audience watching so it included all the UNNECESARY shooting and "action" thingy's but if you just take the concept and the cinematography (especially the nature clip referenceses play) then yes it coul have been awsome but i mean you try to keep up with hollywood standards and make something like that.

No, this film just deus ex machina'd from one plot point to another with no sense of internal rules or continuity. The great thing about film is that you can create your own internal rules and talk about what the consequences of those rules are... But this film didn't care, it had no consistency and just said we will write whatever we need to advance and incredibly basic and boring plot to a bullshit wordy and meaningless end.

***** 10% is not the point here. I went to watch the movie precisely because I heard 10% cliche in trailer, and I thought it would make great science fiction action movie where you can just turn pff your brain and enjoy. Lucy failed at that. It took itself seriously, but couldn't produce anything worth taking seriously, so it ended up being huge waste of time. It wasn't light-hearted or fun, nor was it in any way thought-provoking because of the stupid premise. Plot was stupid and it failed to keep tension up, and characters were extraordinarily forgettable. Lile, if you wanted to see this kind of movie done so that premise isn't stupid, which works because of that, go watch Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. If you want to watch this kind of movie that works because it doesn't take itself too seriously, watch Limitless.

If you want to tell me Superman can fly in space and the lack of oxygen isn't an issue, I'll have questions but I'll let it slide because we're in agreement that this isn't meant to be a movie that makes me think. But Lucy is trying to be the exact opposite. It's trying to be clever as hell, and instead it's just dumb. There's no "might", there's no maybe. The human brain can NOT do those things.
