Last time there was a video about the M109R, I mentioned how it was the WORST motorcycle I've owned. I still stand behind that. Just because it's the worst, doesn't mean I don't love it! But yes, this is about everything wrong with my M109R and sums up everything needed to get it fixed. Let's talk about it

To avoid clutch shudder all you gotta do is keep the handle bars turned to the right when you park for an extended period of time. The bike stands up straighter and gets more oil to the clutch plates. I discovered this when i had a shudder and parked my bike as mentioned and went on vacation for a week and came back to having no shudder

Fork seals are definitely a wear item, but if they're not that old, they can be just dirty. I had that on my previous bike. There are some tools to clean them, but you can cut a plastic bottle into a gentle hook shape and clean it like that. That trick worked for me. But at close to 40k miles, you'll definitely want to change the fork oil anyway.

Use vinegar preferable double strength to clean rust. Especially in fuel tank, fill to the brim with the fuel cap. Leave overnight and empty vinegar into another container check if rust in tank gone or not. if not gone refill vinegar leave overnight and check again. Once cleaned hose out fuel tank with water use air hose to blowout tank. Fill with diesel a litre or two and shake it around and drain diesel this should prevent flash rust. Hope this helps.

Change all of the fluids, clutch , and fork seals for sure. I would recommend taking the alternator (stator) side off as well to see if the magnets have migrated. They all broke loose on my 03 SV1000S and moved, causing low charging rate and a vibration. Easily fixed with locktite and aircraft fuel tank sealant. SV is a V twin Suzuki for those unfamiliar. Edit: brake lines are something I don't change unless there is a problem with them. Aftermarket brake lines suck, only buy OEM.
@BrandonBicasso
@BrandonBicasso 4 жыл бұрын
I will do that. Good looking out. And that was the plan if I didn't go steel braided. I'm leaning more towards stock plates and after market springs, though. What do you think?
@upsidedowndog1256
@upsidedowndog1256 4 жыл бұрын
@@BrandonBicasso Aftermarket clutches are usually much better. I don't change the steels unless warped. Stiffer springs are good but your left hand will have to get used to it. I put "race" springs in my 85 Kawi turbobike, the original plates are still in it. No slipage whatsover, even under full boost (140+ hp). Don't do aftermarket brake lines, you will be disappointed if you do.
@BrandonBicasso
@BrandonBicasso 4 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I'll keep that in mind. Not too worried about the clutch being heavy. Maybe hydraulic? More $$$, but less maintenance. You're right on the lines, though... probably will just keep it simple and stock.

Just a 13 year old bike that hasn't been maintained properly. I have a 2008 M109R and have had no problems what so ever. In the club I'm in (which all bikers within the club ride M109R) have no issues either. Yeah you get wear and tear on things overtime but you have obviously not maintained your bike properly which is why you have all these problems. So you are at fault for being lazy not the bike itself.
@BrandonBicasso
@BrandonBicasso 4 жыл бұрын
It has been maintained beautifully, actually. The rotor and clutch shutter are BOTH defects. FOH. Last time I checked a leaking fork seal doesn't mean being lazy. Also, I know of several M109R owners who had their bikes in the shop and were told their valves didn't need adjusting at 40K miles. Stop being a fan boy.

@@BrandonBicasso clearly you are full of it because of all the problems you have with your bike and the video clearly shows the bike is piss poorly maintained as it has that many problems. Just be honest and own that you poorly maintained your bike. For the record I'm not really that much of a fan for suzuki, I prefer kawasaki and yamaha.

Brandon here is my 2 cents, your videos are always very informative and some are actually lesson on what you shouldn't do to the bike you love, I don't question if you like your bike, however I have seen at least 1 other video I believe you did a riser extension in the backyard and cringed on your version of mechanics using that pipe for leverage to get 2 screws off which should have just used the WD40 from jump street. , .. Your bike your world, now don't get me wrong I am no where close to you on mechanical skills, but I am a pro on keeping my motor vehicles in prime shape, TERRIFIED , of how much it would cost later down the line for neglecting the obvious or a possible bad accident while riding in NYC especially with the roads and bad drivers here, which as most good mechanics will tell if you don't address bike issues it will just get worse and cause other avoidable more costly issues. I had a 2000 Suzuki TLR which finally died at 62,000 miles I know for a fact the only reason that baby lasted that long and looked as good as it rode was because I kept up with the maintenance, minus defects it all about how much you really like what you have and preventive maintenance,, remember you only have 2 wheels below you if things go wrong. Thanks for the Headsup I just purchased a 2018 M109R and already have planned upgrades to the rotors, brake lines to steel, etc. I appreciate you showing what can and will happen though and be safe please.....PS how much will all these repairs your looking at cost ??? appreciate your videos PS. as far as the comment about you getting a Harley, all bikes have mechanical issues, M109s seem to the bike that doesn't bury your wallet fixing it........

@@BrandonBicasso just because someone us in a club doesn't make them a fan..... It's like saying someone is a "fan boy" for driving a particular car or playing for a certain sports team. It's utter nonsence. What planet are you on? I'm in a couple of clubs with regards to motorbikes. Year I like the M109R but I prefer kawasaki or yamaha. I actually prefer my kawasaki vulcan 2000 which I will admit I am a fan of that. But that's just my preference. Your bike is in shit state because you are lazy and don't maintain your bike properly. Own it, take the criticism and stop being a bitch you snowflake.
