@@pokespartytv8086 While that is pretty true, this is the third movie (okay, sixth) in a pretty massive franchise and is set towards the events of a massive war. By this point in the timeline, you kind of need that extra media to have a full grasp of the situation. It would be a bigger sin to have all the characters act like everything is new information to them, given they're all Generals at this point. Also a few of the sins, like Palpatine risking himself in the crashing ship, kind of show how nit-picking this list was. "Behind-the-scenes control?" of course it was, the entire franchise is pretty much based on Palpatine behind-the-scenes'ing everything.

@@cyqry It doesn't matter how big the conflict is or the fact that its star wars. The movies should be able to stand on their own in giving a cohesive story. If you need to watch a cartoon series to understand a character and actually get some cool stuff out of them, then that's a failure on the movie's part. I watched the 2d animated clone wars series before seeing rots so I was well aware of who grievous was and even why he had such a bad cough and couldnt fight well. But for a fan or casual viewer who only watches the movies, grievous feels really out of place, poorly defined, and ultimately a character who's only purpose is to give obiwan someone to fight in the middle of the movie. Pretty jarring, if you ask me. Return of the jedi was also the third movie in a trilogy that served as the conclusion to a massive war and it sure as shit didn't need a cartoon to explain anything.

After TROS I’ve gone back and rewatched every Star Wars movie (starting at A new hope then finishing with the prequels) and ROTS was the only one of the prequels that I wasn’t frustrated out my ass by. They really are not good films. They’re certainly a lot of fun at times, Ewan McGregor is fantastic (especially in ROTS) and it’s neat to see the really intense lightsaber fights ect., (and Jesus Christ the fucking music is legitimately some of the finest in cinema history) but they’re inconsistent with the original trilogy, Anakin is literally an insufferable goth teenager, DEAR GOD Jar Jar in the phantom menace is actually unbearable- I could go on. I grew up on the prequels and they were my first introduction to Star Wars (I even remember liking Jar Jar as a kid) , so i guess I do love them in a way, but I will in no way say they’re decent films by any means. The sequel trilogy blows the prequels out of the water purely on entertainment value in my opinion. Frustrating, of course, but for the lost potential more than anything. The prequels are enjoyable in a kind of goofy comic book way, and are charming in their own deluded un-selfaware way. Jesus are they not good though.

There are good elements to the Prequels, some of them on par with the best moments of the originals, they are just outnumbered by a lot of disappointment.

+Mordalon Eh, I will give the scene props for expanding Star Wars lore in regards to the Sith, and it is comparatively better than virtually every scene in the prequels, but it still isn't that good. You saying "it wasn't perfect" and "it gave an interesting insight" implies you find that scene more good than bad. That scene is probably still 70-75% bad. It isn't in the slightest bit vague, with Palpatine smiling like a goofball while telling the story. It also just shows how cartoonishly stupid Anakin is. I mean, why would the Chancellor know a Sith story that apparently no one else has heard? Why would a Chancellor who is suspected by the council of possible treachery bring up a "benefit" of the dark side out of nowhere? And why is it EXACTLY what will help Anakin's current issue that no one is supposed to know about? These are things that would raise red flags for anyone that is in the least bit intelligent, of which Anakin is apparently not. Sure it isn't completely conclusive, there are convoluted and unlikely explanations one could probably create, but it is MORE then enough to report to the council, "I think Palpatine is probably a Sith Lord trying to manipulate me, at the very least he has knowledge of the Sith that isn't well-known." Then just attempt to bring him in for questioning. If he resists, too bad, since Anakin isn't going to massacre the Jedi in the next 10 minutes, they have more than enough manpower.

There is actually a reason behind it. The swordplay of the jedi is heavily modeled after a specific real world martial art (that I forgot the name of). It prioritizes disarment, very litterally. It's meant to be able to incapacitate without killing, just as peacekeepers like the jedi would want to do

Shawnee Longbow R2 has actually been memory wiped at least twice in the franchise. However both times they didn't go far enough with the wipe. The first time he was memory wiped was when he was kidnapped by Cad Bane's crew to gain access to the information he had on the Republics battle strategies at the time. Bane simply had R2's memory of the encounter wiped. The second time was at the end of ROTS when he and 3PO had their memories of Anakin and the others wiped. Their personalities were kept however.

All correct, except R2's memory was not wiped in ROTS. Senator Organa orders 3PO's memory wiped, mostly because he talks too much and they didn't want him spilling things. R2 however remembers everything.
