I like how they portrayed Eep's and Dawn's relationship. Some movies would have made them rivals for boy's affection, but here they made it clear that Dawn has no interest in Guy, and she and Eep are good friends.

5:28 Fun fact: Turns out cavemen teeth were actually in really good condition, as their diets and lifestyles allowed many more types of micro-organisms in their mouths. Believe it or not, this actually helped maintain their teeth, which is proven when agriculture and less types of food were introduced. This is when cavaties, decay and many other tooth related problems started.

Not all thogh. Neanderthal ore homosapian it all depends on how they used them. A lot of neanderthal teeth are worn from many years of usage, so not all are perfect, and if i might say sapians had it beter in dental care back then then neanderthals do to ther more advanc hunting skills and lifestyle. But neanderthals did have a bit thicker enamel layer arond the teath so that is one benifit.

I also appreciate that they didn’t go for the two girls fighting over one guy trope. To add to it, I appreciated the fact that when the two families were arguing with each other, the girls never fought amongst themselves and the parents never forced them to not like each other.

It’s funny how you sinned the fact that in the recap, Eep was stopped from smashing Guy with a rock just because he put his arms out , even though that is LITERALLY the reason why she stops in the first movie. She noticed the human arms when Guy put his arms out, and she is obviously smart enough to realize that it wasn’t a animal. This is one thing story wise they got spot on in the recap.

I’m glad this movies didn’t play the “new girl creates tension between existing relationship and the girl gets jealous of new girl” trope. I was suprimes that Eep became great friends with the other girl and didn’t get mad at her but at Guy.

Nice video, but you missed one. Remember that place they all settled at the end of the first movie? Lush jungles, beaches, plenty of food? It looked pretty damn nice. Yet now they’re all on the road again searching for “tomorrow”. Why? They already found it! What happened to it? It wasn’t “tomorrow-y” enough for them?

I was really expecting you to sin that fact that Grug said that "boomsies" was Sandy's first word, but technically in the first movie, Sandy said "Dada" and put her hands on Grug's face. So Grug would of already known that "boomsies" wasn't her first word

The first thing I noticed about this movie is that it's style became a bit less realistic, like if you compare the scene of where Guy and Eep meet in the first and second one, there's a huge difference

Yes indeed, the clothes and the face seem to be less cringe and feel fleshed out rather than the sequel. The sequel has a flat bright clothes that didn't fit well with the characters. @@laei6391

I seriously miss the art style of the first movie, I loved seeing the TINIEST of detail of dirt and dust on the characters. It’s what made the movie fit the era portrayed. They modernized this one too much, assumingely for the target audience, it’s disappointing

4:06 I like to think that The Croods actually takes place in the far future after some kind of apocalypse. That would explain why they use modern day terms like Seat Belt, Watch, ect.

I wish they hadn't changed the animal designs. They looked so unique in the first one and you could see all the different animals in each of them but also the creative liberties. In this one it's just two animals mashed togther with the colours made brighter. It less creative and kinda lazy considering the animals they originally had were much better.

@@TheSnomGuy Yes they were still combinations of animals in the first movie but more detail and creative liberty was taken to make them more unique and less obvious. Like the animal at the start of the movie looked to be a mix of a bear, an owl and some predatory cat. But it was blended together really well so that it wasn't as obvious. If they had used it again in the second movie it probably would have looked lower quality because they don't bother to blend or add any creative detail to the animals in the second movie. If you want to see what I mean look at Douglas in the first movie (the alligator, badger, dog thing) and then look at his design in the second movie

2 things that I was hoping to see; the family acts like they have never encountered bananas when, in the first movie, guy appeased the punch monkeys with a giant pile of bananas; both movies end with sandy’s “first” words. It was “dada” or something in the first movie and “boomsies” in the second. In the second movie; however, the family acted like Sandy had never spoken before.

I like how Eep's emotion of love feels/looks like the modern-day symbol which also in turn comes from the ancient Greeks' symbol for a plant that was literally used for birth control, i. e. a literal sex-related product. I mean, obviously little people know of that, but I just thought it wouldn't hurt to point out.

Honestly I thought the film was great. It embraced the wacky tone from the first one and just had a lot more fun with the concept of The Croods. The fact that some of them were gonna get eaten because Grug ate like a millions bananas is exactly the kind of plot I wanted to see from a film like this. The animation and colours were also on point.

Something about the way this movie does it's "modern" humor that rubs me the wrong way. It's pretty bad when you're making "The Flintstones" feel more timeless by comparison.

I liked the first movie a lot more. The concept of both films is fun, and I enjoyed the wacky parts of the second film just like I did in the first, but I feel like they just repeated everything Grug learned in the first movie. I also feel like it was a lot less funny than the first movie

Notice how the animation quality was different between the first and second movie? In the first movie, they were more detailed and “dirty.” In this one, they appear smoother and cleaner

The only thing that genuinely irritates me about this movie is the fact that Phil and Hope decided after less than half a day that the Croods would never be able to adjust to life behind the wall. Not even 12 hours and they acted like they knew more about the Croods than the Croods themselves. This was the stupidest part of the movie and whoever wrote it in there should be ashamed of themselves for it. It could even be forgiven if the scene was 2 days later, because then there would at least have been time to make it believable that Phil and Hope would come to that conclusion. But not even 12 hours? BS. It just made them seem even worse than they are.

Also, the reason that The Flintstones worked is that it was specifically intended as a (light) parody of then-current postwar consumerist "Silent Generation" culture. There was a POINT to all the anachronisms. This is just using them for lazy reference jokes.

I really liked this movie, but I feel the skin was to smooth and clean, not a single rough detail and the teeth needed to be at least a bit more yellow. The first movie had more rough skin so it looked more realistic, but I can see that they may have gone for the smoother skin, because most people like it smoother or it's because they wanted the aesthetic to look more happy and that everything was great .

@@kiaranfouche7589 most people thought the first movie was okay, but not great. the fact that the sequel isn't terrible shouldn't remotely come across as a surprise. honestly, I liked croods 2 a lot more than the first. same can be said with a good amount of dreamworks sequels.

Neither is a masterpiece like Incredibles or as iconic as Shrek, but both are genuinely entertaining the whole way through, as deliver much more than they promise, similar to How To Train Your Dragon (the first one at least.) Would recommend.

I won't lie the comedy in the sequel didn't do well for me. It seemed too immature and that there's always a comedic relief every five minutes. The first movie's comedy made me laugh my butt off and that there's some serious moments in the movie. My favourite part was when they were all seperated and had to think of a way to get out and the most heart touching moment was when they blew their horns to see if Grug was alright and Eep regretting never telling her dad she loves him. Also the fact that them surviving was the obstacle instead of giant grown monkey. However, the sequel I couldn't take too seriously and the way the beat the bad guy was just stupid. Also why the hell were Guy and Eep acting like brain dead lovebirds? It doesn't make sense when they are trying to survive. I like thier chemistry in the first movie more. Seems more realistic than the second one. Actually the whole first movie seems more realistic and down to earth than the second one. I also prefer the art designs in the first one more.

I will say, the animation has definitely improved over the years. I mean, take a look at the first one circa 2013- it's still good, but based on the animation from this movie, it's really good. The story line sucks, and Eep is giving me Ralph vibes from Ralph breaks the internet vibes yk?

You missed a sin. The croods spend who knows how long ravaging the bettermen's giant melon things, yet the bettermens don't notice until they try to pick the tiny ass banana. Yeah yeah, I know Phill was protective of the bananas, but everything else is their food supply.

Ended up seeing this movie a few weeks ago while bored at a work-trip AirBnB. It had some cute parts, but mostly I just sat imagining how much Jeremy would tear it to shreds. Finally, my prayers have been answered!

This was the first movie I got to see in theaters post-pandemic, and although its nothing special, it was fun to finally see a movie in theaters and it had some pretty funny moments. My favorite was the joke about Thunk watching the 'window' ("I think this show's for older kids", lol). The first Croods is a pretty decent animated offering I think. Compared to the first Croods, which had a more serious/emotional ending, this one fully embraced the crazy and had a totally wacky ending.

18:25 Uhhh, did you forget that the Punch Monkeys have no more bananas? All those empty peels? They didn't know the Bettermans wouldn't have their usual banana offering, so they didn't leave any bananas in reserve for if something like this happened. Therefore, they're using the banana peels they now have so many of, to make Phil, Grug, and Guy's banana disguises.

I like to think that during the 2000's Dreamworks was a rockstar on top of the career with how untouchable they were, then the early 2010's was the hangover period, then came the late 2010's where all the poor decisions and bridges they burned came crashing down and now all the bastard children are showing up.
