@@fillman86 that is incredibly incorrect, there still were many mid range cars that still had clutch cables back in the 90s. my 1995 Saab 900 still has one, so did my previous 1999 Citroen XM, which was an upper middle class car and even the Ford Mustang still used a clutch cable until at least 2004. btw. my 130hp saab also has headers, and a BMW of the 90s also has real turbular headers, so that is not all that uncommon either.

The only thing wrong with it IMO is the lack of widebody bumpers. None of the stock bumpers line up with the widebody flares and it makes it look awkward.

That’s kinda realistic to the 240/180 bc aftermarket was so mass produced that the mods and body kits were so mediocre in quality you would not get lineups.

To be fair,a lot of the things you point out, could have been done a bit better,and yes the "Oh they did it to keep the poly count low" argument,is valid,but at the same time,the Classic Engine Expansion Pack has way more detail and it doesn't seem to hinder the game whatsoever

If fillman overanalyzes the engine bay of the BX of all things this hard, for the love of GOD don't let him look into the sunburst's bay, he will have a stroke and literally die (also a sidenote, the BX uses the covet's engine models. i don't really agree with the practice but it allows for some cross-compatibility when you go modding it... in this case ITBs shouldn't be an issue)

the nissan silvia and nissan pulsar shared the SR20DE engine, so it's not that bad. It also turns out that the 3D models for the BX already had the itb setup, they're just not used for some reason

I don't think you're being "nitpicky" at all. In my opinion, the 200bx rework seems really half assed. And for the mirrored livery that's actually really popular in Japan for symmetry reasons.

They're doing other stuff in between along with a whole ass new graphics engine wich needs EXTENSIVE polishing, once Vulkan is fully ready things are going to change A LOT.

I noticed the lack of a fuel cap today lmao. I was at one of the in game gas stations and wanted to go on the right side of the car, and realized there wasnt one

16:40 Older cars often indicate with the hose from the fuel pump where the fuel cap is. I can send you a picture from my 1989 Suzuki SJ 413. It doesn’t have the arrow either.

@@Freezorgium its made so it looks like the gas station your are pulling up to. so if the tube is on the right side, your fuel-cap will be on the left. and wise versa

Steelorse already noticed the polygons in the trunk lmao (He also mentioned that it looks like it's not the same guy that made the T-series remake and the BX; it seems like the guy who made the bx had lower expectations instead of making a perfect vehicle like the T-series) Anyway I hope they fix it I was also disappointed about the intake filters; we previously had a great covet remaster where you could not only choose which intake but also change the filter!

Top tip! "One Via" was actually fairly common as all USDM S13 coupes came factory with pop ups. The Silvia nose was never sold in the US, or Canada, so all S13's regardless of hatch or coupe, were pop up.

everything wrong that I could find before watching the video: -weird polygons inside the trunk -ugly textures (worse than usual) -low-poly seats (even though the ones IRL are flat and boring cloth, these in-game look much worse) that's about it ig

You should make more videos like this-I found this pretty entertaining. It does make me wish the devs did put a little more thought into some of the mechanical details of some of their cars. One thing that bothers me for no good reason is there’s a variant of the covet that says it has a special livery when it doesn’t. The livery is in the game files but for what ever reason the devs don’t use it even though they say they do.

The onevia is actually really common in the US as we only got 240sx’s so no s13 front end and you could get them in a hatch, coupe, and convertible.

3:45 While the Sil80 wasn't initially made by Nissan as it's origins were from mountain racing and the stock pop up 180SX front end being more expensive to replace than that of the fixed headlight S13, Nissan did officially (albeit briefly) make and sell a select few models that were officially given a "Sileighty" badge in place of the typical 180SX badging on the car's B pillar. Kind of cool that Nissan back then just went "This was not my intention, but I shall adjust accordingly." lol

One thing I'm not surprised you've missed is that if you set the front wheel offset as far out as you can the steering explodes when you turn.

One issue I found that has to do with the actual driving characteristics is a missing/broken node in the rear suspension. The rear toe rods aren't attached to the subframe and wiggle around freely.

The only thing wrong with the new BX is that they didn’t take this perfect opportunity to include a Wankel engine. I need my rapidly flailing dorito. Mainly because the mod i used to get a rotory engine in the BX doesn’t work with the new update. 😔

While it doesn't really make me not appreciate this rework, after the amount of complexity and accuracy on the Belasco Diesel motor for the T-series, I'm very surprised by this quality. This looks like what you might find under the hood of a newer gta v car

One thing I noticed is the entire engine bay and exhaust have been mirrored compared to the 240sx, which might be because the engine looks backwards from the real life KA24 and SR20

if you put in the V8 and put on the turbo manifold, the top of the intake manifold has weird physics as the engine rocks side to side, like if you hit the throttle

Though the engine looks like a ca18 it is really more like a ka24 which does in fact use a distributor. Also, one thing that bugs me about the rework you didn't mention is the rear hatch has no hinges or struts. it just magically opens.

The canister the brake vacuum line goes to is a vacuum storage unit. Helps maintain vacuum after rapid brake applications. The line in the intake tube that should go to the ecu, is the intake air temp sensor. Why it goes to the booster.... Lol

the logos being mirrored for the drift car is intentional, some irl drift cars are like that. The beamng logo on the car is likely representing a motorsport number plate which irl cant be mirrored because they dont allow that usually. I think the same goes for the sponsors on the plate.

@fillman86 Do you think you could make a mod to overhaul the Engine Thermal Simulation? Why does it take forever to warm up vehicles when “pre-heat engine” is turned off? My car IRL takes around 5 minutes to have the thermostat kick in on idle. In BNG, it takes me driving the engine HARD to get the temperature to do anything.

You forgot one vital thing. On regular frame BXs (NOT the tubular frame like the drift/race cars have), the NA 4.5L V8 and 5.5L V8’s intake clips through the battery.

the fuel arrow isn't present on every cars. To know the side of your car the fuel cap is: Just look on which side of your dash the fuel jauge is. if the fuel level is left of rpm/speed -> your cap is on left side; on the right of rpm/speed -> right side of your car.

The only thing I dislike about the Diana is the fact that it shares the same trim levels as its US counterparts, so it doesn't really feel any special apart from the front-ends and the bodystyle.

I will say this - devs likely had reasons for all of these innacuracies, but one reason could be that they simply didn't know. Lack of knowledge is a good reason sometimes. When I draw, I tend to sometimes not grasp how something has to be drawn and I do it my way. Great video, man.

that thing the vacuum line looks to go to is a vacuum pump. some engines that are higher power (or diesels) didnt produce vacuum(diesels) or not enough in the case with high power engine applications which makes sense on the higher end versions like the drag or drift but not a base model

The drift livery is meant to be backwards. Dev said so in patch notes

I've found another issue: If you have a look at the "Street Tuned (M)" version you will see that there is a selector for an Auto in the center console despite it being a manual.

yeah, even the SR20 ended up in the Nissan Pulsar... though that was a performance variant, not the standard engine

About the flipped livery: japanese people say this was done to "line up" the livery with the car. Some logos would totally ruin the design of the whole livery when put on the other side. The JZX90 @18:55 is the perfect exemple of that. Imagine the big writing on the side flipped. It would not line-up. Not the case in Beamng though as the logos are symmetrical

I always laugh about the Pinto and the Corvair since both cars' problems over time have been so overblown by culture, the Pinto didn't explode in a crash and the Corvair didn't just fold and go flipping across the road, and in fact the Pinto would've had no problems at all if the then-standard steel gas tanks were replaced by the safer polypropylene ones that the Pinto was in fact a big factor in the invention of, and the Corvair's suspension folding issues were solved under a year after the first was sold, but Ralph Nader already destroyed the reputation of the car by then since he was hunting for a car to blame and the Corvair unluckily ended up in his crosshairs. Car history is interesting

Yup. And the first-gen Mustang had a similar sort of bad design with the fuel tank. They're not _quite_ as close to the rear bumper, but they are "drop-in" tanks that form the trunk floor, and the wall between the trunk and car interior is just particleboard, so the gas tank is basically in the cabin as far as fire safety is concerned. And yet almost nobody ever talks about that. I do like that movie clip that he showed for the Pinto, though; it makes it clear just how silly the popular conception is.

I have seen a coolant line from a radiator to a brake booster before, but that was on a time attack car, they had a water jacket around the brake booster for cooling the brake fluid.

oh yeah, you'll get that on heavier time attack cars with lots of power, but not enough money for the super expensive brakes. They do some really odd things sometimes

on the fan shroud thing, yes you DO need to be able to funnel the air, HOWEVER theres a better explanation. if ANYTHING on all the models of a car mounts to that shroud, they will put it on all of them. my 93 tracker has a sticker for an electric fan but it doesnt have one except for the one for the A/C and it specifically says engine electric fan but its a clutch based mechanical fan.

i have two cars and none of them have a "fuel cap is on that side" indicator. i just pull the cable and then i see it in the rearview mirror when the fuel lid pops open.

Weird, whack, inaccurate theory: the "hose clamp" in the engine bay is a weirdlybplaces throttle body, and the brake line is actually a throttle cable. Wait, how long were you staring at this engine to find all these gripes? Also, im pretty sure that the engine wasnt really updated that much frimt he classic 200BX, probably just new textures and soem added details. Mostnof the work was done to the interior and the exterior, because thats all that most people stare at. but either way, great video.

The decal mirroring at 18:30 is actually by design, as this style was common on Formula Drift cars in the 2000's Check out the Top Secret Silvia S15 for reference

lol that paint job was sooooo bad (also I haven't had that car in like 18 years) as for fixing all the technicalities, that takes a lot of 3D modelling, and I'm not very good at that, so I'll leave that one alone
