Uncut Gems was pretty well reviewed, got a lot of good buzz, and famously did NOT get Adam Sandler an Oscar nomination. But forget all that... how many sins does it have?
Next week: Animated sins and sh*tty action sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

The REAL question is, how did the goons get out of the jewelry shop in the end!? Without someone to buzz them out, they’re stuck in there until the police show up. We see throughout the movie that there’s no override that allows both doors to be opened at the same time, someone has to be pressing the button from inside, to open the inner and outer doors separately. Even with all its problems, the doors still won’t magically stay open while they escape with the gold. It bugs me they didn’t explain this!

I liked the protagonist tbh, I worked with a guy exactly like him. It’s the charm, the no quitters mentality, the I have to prove something because no one really sees it for me, and The Who am I if I don’t have money archetype. I don’t think he’s a horrible guy honestly , I think the movie started when he was already in a desperate situation. I also think he’s an immature guy, in a very serious situation (like water and oil). His character is a child playing with fire, simply not paying attention to everything catching on fire around him till the point it consumed him.

@@pmsn3674you are kidding right? You start with King's already excellent novella then expand upon it with this richly layered tale of broken innocence, hypocrisy, Faith, and the human spirit. And compare that to Howard Ratberg and his gambling addiction. He isn't some erudite study in the complexities of man, just a sleaze I do think Uncut Gems is a very good film; a 3 1/2 out of 5.. just for the pacing & editing alone it is worth the watch. A masterpiece, no

Yeah that's the thing, any way from that moment would've been downhill for Howard. To be honest, Howard didn't even care about the money that much. There were several times in the movie where he could've done something safer. If his ring could've replaced KG's ring at the pawn shop, why didn't he just pawn his own ring and not take the risk with KG's ring? The truth is, that was Howard's sport. That's what gave him the high, the rush, the anxiety. Even if he had won the money he would've now chased an even bigger high. It's a happy ending for Howard, because he died, as other people have said, the happiest he could've ever been.

This is my conjecture from watching the Chris Farley documentary, but it seems like after Farley died, Sandler saw comedy more as an avenue to become successful than a true art form. That's how much he respected Farley, after he passed there wasn't really a pursuit of comedy that felt worthwhile, but he could make a very successful living from it. However, his dramatic roles have generally drawn a fair bit of praise. "Punch Drunk Love", "Spanglish", "Rein over Me" and even "Funny People" all showed a lot of emotion and drama. He's able to tap into that pain to deliver great performances, but my guess is he finds them exhausting, and... they don't make money.

1:11 as somebody who has had a colonoscopy before, by the time he wakes up, gets dressed, checks out, n is on the street he'd be basically fine at that point. Only within the first 5 - 10 mins of waking up would be still be feeling the affects of the anesthesia. Least that's how it was for me.

- “Vig” means “interest” - And there is NOTHING wrong with Alice In Chains 1992 album…”Dirt” went quadruple platinum and that shit still rocks to this day. - I really liked this movie, it was actually very realistic. My ex had a gambling addiction…horse racing, casinos, sports games, you name it. He blew about $1500-2000 a day and I was amazed how he was always able to come up with money each and every day. Until one day, it all blew up in his face, kinda like in this movie. This is a good movie, cut it some slack.

@emmanueldixon2235
@emmanueldixon2235 3 жыл бұрын
Ok What do I do Yeah the reason why people get triggered is bc it’s annoying to listen to a movie critic make easily avoidable mistakes in their commentary all the time. Jeremy has admittedly not watched ‘all’ of the films he’s sinned and it shows sometimes which makes it cringe.
@baboonaiih
@baboonaiih 3 жыл бұрын
@@Goropemax that's the problem it's always, "aha just a joke" whenever it's wrong but people take the criticisms they agree with to heart. These videos are 15-25 minutes long now, and those are all jokes?? Lol its a weak shield they wear.
