This is the sum total of human knowledge about the Turnitin AI detector. How does it work? What are some criticisms towards it? How have Turnitin responded to these? How much do universities pay for Turnitin?
These questions and more are answered in this video.

Great content Sir! I'm glad I found your chanel cause there's a lot of fakes out there, please continue uploading videos about Ai. Lastly I have a question that might seem odd, Is there any humanizer Ai that can bypass turnitin? as of current... I know that turnitin is constantly evolving.

Where is the “peer review” for this polished (?) but unverifiable claim, based on regurgitating the work of others? At best it is “click bait”. There is a reason academic work is put through review by peers, and why educational claims should not be revealed via a KZfaq video. At worst this is ill-informed rhetoric. You say you will explain ‘how’ Turnitin AI tool works, but you only mention input file formats and constraints; details provided by Turnitin are essentially the same as for the originality report, and you just repeat them, rather than the promised ‘how’ If we remove the sections you are just repeating (i.e. not your own work) there is very little actual content. When you say you will tell us how the AI works, then don’t actually do this it undermines your pretty minimal credibility. If you’d said you would speculate, or that there was no information how it works, it would have been more honest. TBH how the AI works is commercial and proprietary. Why would Turnitin be truly transparent about this? BTW .doc is just a backwards compatible subset of the .docx format; both are zip compressed folders with meta data and content stored in simple text files. Human docs (false positives) are much more problematic as a false accusation is one of the main concerns of academics; it is understandable that a bias in favour of under-reporting would result. False negatives do not destroy a student’s trust when they are falsely accused. Not all crimes get solved. It doesn’t mean we should disband the Police. The only area we agree on here is that the AI tool isn’t very good. Is it a surprise that HEIs don’t want to pay for the service; you yourself highlighted the costs to institutions. The issue of second language students is not peculiar to Turnitin. It is (and has been) endemic within Higher Education for decades. Yes, the battle is unwinnable, if you carry on with out of date assessment techniques, but where is your “evidence-based” alternative. Now, THAT would have been worth creating a video (or preferably a peer-reviewed paper) about. Sadly, at best you are kicking someone when they’re down. I’d like my 25:10 back please 😢

Thank you so much for taking the time to watch my video. I really appreciate it. Thanks for taking the time to comment, too. This is certainly not a novel contribution to knowledge that necessitates a peer review. It's simply a summary of everything that is known about the flawed Turnitin AI detector and discourse relating to it based on disparate sources. It's purpose is simply to summarise knowledge on a tool that many educators take for granted in a digestible and easy to understand way. If you have any strong feelings about the Turnitin AI detector, get in touch at tadhg.blommerde@northumbria.ac.uk. I'd love to hear what you have to say in a series of upcoming interviews that I am doing about it and its impact on various stakeholders. Thanks again.
