@@Savage_koushal It's a cheap Pentel from a drugstore. I'm just one of those people who doesn't seem to misplace things, so it got me through a couple years of college math and years at my job, until I got into wooden pencils. I still have it. I also only had one fountain pen for about twenty years, until JetPens ruined me for that, too!

Lol the “Gather round class” at the beginning got me. I had a dream one night that i was a substitute for a class and instead of doing work, i just told them about stationery all day, and when the teacher got back the kids were asking her what pens and notebooks she used 🤣

I’ve been using mechanical pencils since the late 1950s. In early grades we were required to use woodcase pencils, but as soon as it was allowed I switched to mechanical pencils. These were Scripto pencils that took one lead at a time (1.1 mm?) and came in pretty translucent colors. Later Pentel and Pilot sold 0.5 mm pencils and I’ve been using 0.5 ever since. My all time favorite is the Platinum Zero Shin, but it’s discontinued. It has a double clutch mechanism that uses the lead all the way to the end and seamlessly advances the next lead. It’s sad that I don’t see that mechanism used any more. Good thing I bought many from JetPens when they were still available.

As an artist, I've grown to love mechanical pencils after having used wooden pencils for drawing sketches for a decade, and after having watched various videos of artists on KZfaq using various mechanical pencils for preliminary sketches. Plus, the 2mm clutch mechanical pencils/lead holders are a great mixture of having a wooden pencil and mechanical pencil in one (though I normally just carry around two cheap mechanical pencils with different lead grades and an eraser because it's more convenient and cost-effective).

My favorite lead advancement method is the kind on the grip section that you click with your thumb the need to move your hand. I have a few different kinds, the ones nearest my bed right now being a Inc SideClicks and a Pentel Quick Click.

The Pentel one is what I used all through high school and college. The only downside was my hand would get sweaty on the plastic barrel. I do like how the Kuratoga keeps your point nice and sh sharp through.

I love mechanical pencils! I thought they were so cool when I was in elementary school, and now I have more than a few :)) I especially love shaker pencils but they are SO FRAGILE, the moment it drops (not even from a high place,,) it usually jams the clutch mechanism or bends the lead guard and makes it impossible to use the pencil comfortably 😭 making the clicker useless and making it much more difficult to refill the lead... but i have a few good pencils that lasted me more than a few years (ehem ehem,,, kuru toga and mono graph ☺️)

My favorite type of mechanism is side-knock, because you can just keep using the pencil without changing your grip. I would definitely recommend the Pentel Techniclick as I have used it for 10+ years, just beware that the nose cone area and clip is quite fragile, especially the former as it can break easily from drops.

I have a Uni pencil that have button just above the grip section so i can extend the lead by moving my thumb and press it. It is about 15 years old. Too bad the model name wears off. I prefer its button location compared to shaker pencil

Tried the kuru toga because I hate constantly rotating my mechanical pencil in my hand to get the sharper side. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t for me. In order to advance the lead with each stroke, the pencil tip has a slight “springiness” that felt like a loss of control and made my handwriting sloppier. Kudos to them though for addressing an annoying issue! I like the tombow shakers, and the kokuyo ME mechanical pencils are so aesthetically pleasing! And my ohto mechanical pencil that looks like a classic wooden one isn’t the best performing pencil I have, it’s so cool and looks great and I get questions about it all the time!

My favorite mechanical pencil is the Pilot Opt! It doesn't have any cool features like the Zebra DelGuard or the Uni Kurutoga, but I just love how it feels in my hand. The Pilot Dr. Grip is comfortable but I find it to be too soft for me. It's just too bad that the Pilot Opt doesn't have any special edition or collaborations like other pencils.

I recently bought a kuru toga because I was tired of constantly rotating my mechanical pencils in my hand. I found it just wasn’t for me! In order to advance the lead, the tip of the pencil has a slight springiness that made the tip of the pencil feel “jiggly” to me when writing. It made my writing sloppier and wasn’t as nice to write with IMO. Kudos to them for trying to solve that specific issue, though! And other people seem to like it. Love the tombow shakers though, and the kokuyo ME ones are so aesthetically pleasing.
