I read "Dune" in the mid 70s when I was 14. Re-read it in my twenties. Loved this movie so much! Perfect casting and acting, and it's beautifully filmed. None of the societies in the story have computers, which is amazing.

They dont need them, they have Mentat they are beyond that technology. From the Dune Wiki: Mentat - a profession or discipline that was developed as a replacement to the computers and thinking machines following the Butlerian Jihad that banned the creation of machines in the human mind's image.

@@kenglasson2920 she`s huge for the first book, too. also, the internets keep saying Messiah is ”the conclusion” to Paul`s story (including Denis V) . it is not. that comes in Children of Dune. anyway, imax, LET`S GO!!! :D

The first 10 minutes of the movie were screened here in Brazil during the CCXP, and there's a scene of Paul speaking with Alia inside Jessica's womb right at the beginning.

I was wrong :-( And also I was not prepared for the disappointment of not seeing Alia as a child. Villeneuve shied away from filming one of the most original and intriguing characters of the whole saga: the child abomination. Such a pity!

yes, Denis confirmed this himself in South Korea. that they are working on the script. they don't know if the movie will be done yet.

I don't know why they would have drugged lanville in the first place aswel as the other two soldiers. This should have been an easy fight for feyd drugged or not. That scene didn't make sense to me

I think I remember reading something about them metabolizing silicon in the sand or something. Herbert had a strong interest in ecology. There's no way he didn't think about that, just like how Tolkien put deep thought into his languages and cultures.

It's Chani (like Chayknee), so they changed Jamis, and it's Alia (like Ahleeyah) not like the r&b singer Aliyah and Chani making the big speech about the Missionaria Protectiva enslaving them (please please please stop wokifying Dune uugghh).....I could go on. Is it too much to ask to just let some things stay as they are??? I will say though, it will be SO interesting to see Gurney fight the Beast and Walken as Shaddam. I wonder if Fenring makes an appearance. Also, Sting will ALWAYS be my favorite Feyd. Forever......lololol!!!!

A) House Atreides no longer legally exists at the time the atomic is used and B) as a few others have pointed out they can not nuke the only planet that makes spice ^.^

They could have nuked Caladan in retaliation, but you're right that they wouldn't risk the spice by pissing off Paul, and despite some collateral damage, I don't think that what he did actually violated the Great Convention. Definitely no more than what the Emperor did by directly aiding in the attack on house Atreides.

Considering the amount of time between the house of atreides being "killed" off and the time of the nuking. Caladan would already belong to another house i would imagine. Most likely harkonnen as war spoils or house Corrino as a protectorate 🤔

Atomics were used on the one planet they could never destroy. Controlled by a family and people who would happily cut off spice production ending all interstellar travel. Ask a Navigator how that would go over. Who gives a bleep about boulders. Did you read the books?

I'm using the pronunciation from the first movie (heard around the 9:02 mark with the Herald of the Change). Previously, I deferred to audiobook pronunciation but trying to stay consistent with movie canon (even when it hurts my ears).

Paul is 100% the "White Savior" trope, stop it. 😂 That doesn't take away anything from how good the story is, or how much people love it. Nobody is b*tching about it here. But it is what it is. Besides that though... the guy was just joking around. Something we USED to be able to do, before people started getting their panties in a knot about every f*ckin thing.
