There is compost company in Vermont USA using chickens for making best quality compost. They are collecting food wastes so they don't need to feed chickens, because they are constantly forage on compost piles. Selling eggs, selling compost. Win win.

Hey Dr. Daniel.... you have mentioned numerous times that the quality of feed ration available is not optmal... have you tried fermenting the feed ration for a couple days? The theory is that the available nutrition of the feed is substantially improved, chickens eat less and have improved digestion and nutrient absorbtion. I would be very interested in seeing if it might benefit your laying flock.
