You guys nailed this interview. It's so refreshing to see someone else explaining this to people rather than myself. Everyone heavy into the leather industry gets a bit exhausted explaining these qualities and differences to others over and over. My biggest tips to customers when they pick up a quality leather product: Examine the edges. They should be wax burnished smooth. This protects the leather from absorbing color, moisture, chemicals and other things that can compromise it. Leather is skin, and needs protection too.

Phenomenal video. Information is invaluable . Been watching lots of videos on Open Sea Leather and have been through so many minimalist wallets myself and been in search of the Holy Grail. Finally I have found my grail wallet, going to order a gundeck mini and Topsider mini and try them both and once I decide will give the other to my brother in-law in Colombia. I’m still using a black genuine leather wallet I got for Christmas when I was like 12 or 13. I’m 31 now lol. Still smells new on the inside. I’ll probably keep it forever but I’m interested in trying full or top grain now

I will always remember, I was at a Maledetti store (family-run leathercraft company) in Montepulciano, Tuscany. My dad bought a pair of their shoes, and while returning back to the checkout of the store he asked the guy what he should use to maintain the shoes through the years. And this guy responded with the most italian english accent "Just Nivea, what's good for me is good for my shoes!"

I have a leather bomber jacket I bought back in '86 when I was 23 years old. The only thing I've had to do to it, besides cleaning, is replace the liner. I recently handed it down to my 15 year old son. Let's be honest here, there aren't many of us who can still fit into clothes we bought 35 years ago. He thinks it's the coolest thing ever.
