Have you've ever been interested in opening up an online shop, but find it can be overwhelming? Let me show you the secrets in how my 10 and 13-year-old girls sold over 21,000 scarves in 9 months and built their profitable brand.
START HERE:
www.alisonprince.com/0-100k
We're getting a lot of messages from you about Puerto Rico, and today, we are finally answering your questions!
Almost two years ago, my husband Jared and I decided to move to Puerto Rico. We didn't know much about it, but still, six weeks later, we took the plunge and moved there with our children.
And that was probably one of the best decisions we've ever made. Saying it’s an adventure would be an understatement!
This is why today's episode is nothing about business and all about Puerto Rico, from why we moved there, to what we love about it (the food is only one of the reasons we’ve stayed here longer than we first planned), to what you should absolutely put on your bucket list and what you should a hundred percent avoid (for us, it’s iguanas and bugs)!
So, if you want to learn about our move, our adventures along the way, and why we made the jump, tune in now!
Key Takeaways
● Intro (00:00)
● How we took the decision (01:41)
● Our new home in Puerto Rico (04:42)
● Our favorite places in Puerto Rico (08:53)
● Our favorite food in Puerto Rico (15:36)
● Puerto Rico's real estate boom (19:04)
● Our "non-favorite" things about Puerto Rico (20:36)

Love your story! My grandfather was living in Brooklyn during the 1940s. He visited Puerto Rico for vacation and fell so madly in love with it, that he sent for all his things and stayed for the rest of his life. He met and married my grandmother there as well.

I'm glad you are enjoying my beautiful island. You will never have enough time to discover everything the island has to offer. Im 45 and there's a lot of towns that I haven't been yet. Now you understand why we as puertorricans love our island. No for nothing is call Puerto Rico ("rich port"). Living in a paradise makes anyone feel "rich". That is priceless ❤

What a lovely couple! Puerto Rico has very beautiful places, places that are not so beautiful, and things that do not work the way we want them work, like any place in the world. The positive outweighs the negative. Glad you love it and enjoy what it has to offer for families to enjoy. When a family is based on love, and together, everything can be worked out for things to be better.

Loved the video! Thank you both for the great tidbits. You mentioned faith a couple of times. I’m considering moving to Puerto Rico but am trying to find local churches I could be a part of which would also influence where I move. Do y’all have any advice for finding a church in Puerto Rico or a house church? Do you have one you would recommend? I’ve been searching online and haven’t found much so I’m just curious what your perspective is from actually living there.

Hi Prince Family...... Last year my wife and I bought a condo on a private island just off Fajardo called Isleta Marina. We have a business in the states so for now we only get out to PR at winter time-- Even wintertime the temperature stays in the mid 70's - so much better than temps in the teen's in Wisconsin winters :) Keep the videos going, I am taking notes of the places to visit this winter when we come back out.

Welcome to the Island and nice to see the kids and as a family, it has been a positive experience. Unfortunately, mainland news does not portray Puerto Rico in a positive light. However, you guys present the pros and cons that happen just as well in the states. Bienvenido.

My husband and I are currently thinking about relocating to PR with our boys and I'm a little hesitant about the move only because I'm not fluent in Spanish, and neither are my kids. But I'm Spanish so I think I'll make it work some how.. But your video is so encouraging, and I love your honest opinion because it makes me think I should just trust my judgement and just do it.

East side has the sunrises. You should definitely go to the south western and western sides and experience the incredible sunsets. Boqueron in Cabo Rojo, Parguera in Lajas, Mayaguez, etc. Even to the central part and experience the "Cordillera Central". Barranquitas, Jayuya, Adjuntas, Lares, San Sebastian (where I'm from). There's beauty to be found everywhere on the island. Boqueron in Cabo Rojo is a must. I'm so happy to hear you love it so much here. Blessings!

I had to comment on your video while watching. I also purchased a house in Punta Santiago, Humacao last year January, 2020. Yes during the Earthquakes. I love how you mispronounce so many of the towns, it shows how devoted you are to the Island as newcomers. Thank You for your enthusiasm. Palmas Del Mar is indeed beautiful and a great place for an easier transition, I lived there for a summer while looking for a house to purchase. Home remodel is pretty much difficult anywhere now and especially for the lack of some building materials nationwide. Love that San Juan is not one of your favorites as I find it too crowded. Would be great to meet you guys one day as we are about 15 minutes apart. Best of luck to you guys and the kids. You made me feel better about my move here.

Moving from the states to Puerto Rico (not having any family ties to the island) takes a lot of determination and courage, in my opinion. I was born in the states but grew up in PR my whole life, moved to FL when I was 17 and lived there until age 36, we then moved to Utah and have been here 16 years, my husband works on base, WE LOVE to visit PR, funny thing is even though I grew up there (husband is from the states) I find it hard to live there, not talking bad about PR, it is just hard for me to deal with certain things but I love the island, the people and most of all Christmas in PR 😉

We've owned our farm here now for over 10 years and are still finding more and more adventures (about every week in fact we make a new video on one!) I went there in 2018-2019 and stayed there for almost 2 years. I didn't have any real luck with a job or real independence like I wanted but the weather is desired and their sketch comedy on tv is really good. I was lucky enough to get in a shelter there that set me up for government assistance and housing. If I get the money to go there again i wanna take my chances and go to a city that is more quiet. I've heard they've fixed up Rio Piedras some but Santurce is better imo

My two cents. I moved from Puerto Rico to the States due to work, if everything goes according to plan, we'll be moving back to Puerto Rico when we retire. I worked for a week in Salt Lake City providing service to US West. I certainly appreciate the change of scenery from one place to the other, I am surprised that no mention on how easy is to buy alcohol compared to Utah (at least in a hotel in which you have to belong to a club, that was certainly different). All right. Mayaguez. I graduated from UPR @ Mayaguez. It's certainly deserves a visit in it all right, specially going to Franco to buy a jelly roll (brazo de gitano), but the place is a nice cafe in its own right. There are many cool places to eat near Plaza Colon which is a must to visit, with a stop to the Teatro Yaguez. You might want to consider catching a show there just make sure that it's something that you'll like. Like everywhere in the island, be mindful of the surroundings and keep valuables at home, Mayaguez is relatively safe, but it is still a small city. Southwest from Mayaguez to Cabo Rojo, it's known for the beaches and sea food. You can stop in Joyuda for a nice lunch or dinner while overlooking the ocean. Boqueron is nice, however it can get really, really, really crowded on weekends specially on holidays, if you want to have the place for your own, you're better off going off season and not on a long weekend, El Combate, Cabo Rojo light house and the salt flats are also worth a visit. Driving - It's certainly an adventure and I have to mentally switch gear to Puerto Rican Driving Mode when I am there. If there's any consolation, it's better than Beijing (I saw weird things there) and the opinion from Brazilian friend is that "it's almost like the US". Of course everything is fun and games until one has an accident. Then everybody involved will remember every single law on the book to avoid being fined. I grew up in the mountains in Cayey, that's where the famous pork highway lies. Later. :)

Absolutely love your video. As I was watching, these were some of the thoughts that ran through my mind.: You probably know by now, but Ceiba is pronounce say-ba not see-ba. I'm assuming you were referring to Charco Frio/Las Tinajas in Ceiba. As far as I know, Charco Frio is the stream there at the bottom where you park. The hike from there takes you to Las Tinajas, which has the lower level and the upper level. The upper level provides some heart pumping, adrenaline jumping opportunities. The whole place is such a cool spot. Thank you for educating me on how to pronounce Acai. I love this ice cream/gelato/Acai bowl shop here in Central Florida, and I always say a-sigh. It looks like I've been saying it wrong all this time. If you haven't explored the SW part of PR, you have to put El Faro de Cabo Rojo on your list. It is exactly the most SW point of the island, and one of my absolute favorite spots on the island. San Juan is not for me, either. Some people are just geared for big city life, like Miami, NY, and LA. Not me. Those places are great to visit for something particular ... but it's basically get in, do what you need to do, and get out for me. You couldn't pay me to live in the San Juan area. When you mentioned that moments of natural beauty are like a breathe of fresh air, that's how I feel with elevation, mountains, incredible views and landscapes. That's why I love the mountainous regions and cities. Love them. Plus, since the air is cleaner and cooler, it really is a breath of fresh air. Every time the topic of bioBays comes up, I can't help but be amazed that there are 5 bio-bays int he world, and 3 of them are in little ole' PR. Just amazing to me. There is a youtube channel called LifeTransPlanet, who has the best host. I think there is a good chance that you've already stumbled upon it. If you have not, I just wanted to put it on your radar. Any time PR is feeling small, just watch some of her content to realize how much more there is to see. There's this website called PuertoRicoDayTrips which has had that affect on me for 10 years plus. Love them, also. If you enjoyed Charco Frio/Las Tinajas, you might be happy to find out that there is a HUGE abundance of great river/watefall/swimming spots throught the island. It's amazing to me how one small island could have sooo many amazing river/waterfall/swimming spots. I'll go to the beach, but given the choice between a beach or a river swimming spot, I'll choose the river 10 times out of 10. And when it's an adventure to get to, even better. My intent was not to write a book, so sorry for being long-winded.

@@alisonjprince I didn't make many suggestions, but here is a list of some recommendations: 1. Guided tour of South side of El Yunque, Canon de San Cristobal in Barranquitas, and Rio Tanama in Utuado. For Yunque and San Cristobal I used a company called Montana Explora, which I totally recommend, but there are other options. These tours are potentially dangerous, but with experienced guides they are much safer and practical. 2. Cavernas de Camuy. Safe, organized and professional, but spectacular and memorable. A must see. 3. Cueva Ventana and the newly adjacent Cueva Leon in Arecibo. Cueva Ventana used to just be an adventure that you would take, based on info that you could get. At your own risk type thing that you would explore. Now it's been organized and commercialize, and not quite the same experience, but still a must do. 4. Soooo many great river/waterfall/swimming spots. You've already discovered Charco Frio/Las Tinajas. This could easily be a list of 20+ spots, but one I could point out is Gozalandia in San Sebastian. 5. Natural hot spring baths in Cuomo. 6. Castillo Seralles and Hacienda Buena Vista in Ponce. 7. Jardin Botanical in Caguas. Very cool and educational time spent. Another one was Parque Forestal La Marquesa in Guaynabo, but unfortunately it has closed. But the Jardin Botanical is still open, and worthwhile.

I just visited Puerto Rico and fell in love with it. I currently reside in Florida. My allergies cleared up while I was there and I honestly just felt better. The food is the best I've ever had and we met some very sweet people. We stayed in Palmas Del Mar and went to the rainforest, Charco el Hippie, Vieques, Luquillo, and Old San Juan.

Ceiba = "Say-bah" from the Ceiba Tree. Also, many of our towns' names are based on the original Taino town name like Humacao ( Ooh-mah-kah-oh). Don't worry too much about how you pronounce them. I have Mexican and Argentinian friends who can't say some of those names correctly.

You will see how good people your children will be when grow up. They will see people for who they are and not for the color of their skin, they will be grateful for the little things of life, they will love mother earth and nature like no other place. They will really enjoy freedom thing they will not enjoy completely in the states.

our son moved down to Puerto Rico last year, we visited him for 1 week in August. Immediately I started to get bitten by some kind of no see ums bugs, Not mosquitoes, I sprayed bug spray on me twice a day. But nothing proved to stop them. I was covered from head to toe in welts. They burn and itch then start leaking a clear liquid. I had over a thousand bits by the time I got home. I want to go down to see him again but I need a solution. Any advice? The spray I used had deet in it.
