I’ve been aware of SIPS for a long time, but to my knowledge they are still not super common. I’m in northern Michigan where you would expect to see more of these. I did know that the roof is also made with SIPS. Good video Tim!

My friend in Tennessee built a sip’s panel house probably 25 yrs ago it is sealed so well she needs to have a window slightly open at times to let in fresh air . It is also much quieter than a stick built home . She loves it . I think you will be very pleased with your new home . 😀💕

Major cities have conventions - home & garden shows, car shows and others. I went 30 years ago in Houston that had a small SIPS home on display. Cut away views and lots of info. Also looked at ICF= Insulated concrete forms building system.

Looking through your videos (very good by the way) I did not see how the electrical wiring is run both horizontially from one box to another but also vertically. Do you have to have your electrician there to run wiring as you are putting the panels together? Please send me the link for complete electrical installation. Also any videos if you messed up on an electrical outlet after house is up (not sheetrocked yet) and need to add electrical outlets. thanks again Dan in RI
@RidgeLife
@RidgeLife 17 күн бұрын
You must design your electrical with them ahead of time. They lines are pre run up or down depending if you have attic or crawlspace.

Very interesting for sure. If I understood correctly, there are upgrades.........did you go that route. With house insurance being so high, wonder if this building option would have any affect on cost of insurance. Talking about cost............is it expensive for the average person.
@RidgeLife
@RidgeLife 4 ай бұрын
It’s about 10% more up front but less labor cost.

Very interesting only thing I would change is the OSB I don't like that cause it's chip board. I would want the real thick plywood just saying the Ip board is the way to go but the product sounds great.
@RidgeLife
@RidgeLife 4 ай бұрын
The Zip boards only come in OSB type panels and work greet on SIPs! Price may be a factor but so far they are having great results! Thanks!

Cost of 2 story SIP vs 2x6 ?? (1500 sq ft on slab) 2nd story roof is 12/12 pitch and ends at top of 1st floor header so really only need "triangles" on north ahd south ends. Rest is all roofing from peak crest to top of first floor. This is our forever=retirement home at 10,000fr in the Rockies and getting a crew on site fir a month to stick build is costly ahd timely vs pre-fabbed shipped to site. I'm disabled ahd just had 4th spine surprgey. In college I built vlBouse cabins in ARK as a summer job and am a Mechanical engineer. We've nixed walkout basement and leaning towards 2x4/2x6 exterior simply because of cost. Framing is $45K for shell with doors ajd indies. I also hear about our interior TNG ceiling may spring a leak with SIzp roofs and impossible to trave the source so pushes me to tradional 2x10 roof with OSB isolated std and tar paper covered by metal roof. Can you devlbynk that for roofing? Also resources with cranes abd land atop a mountainbis tricky as I try to assemble a crew for as gou say SIPS ajd focblicks if we opted for walkout few guys swinging a hammer know how to do this and there's a 3 year waitlist with the "big boys" like RiverbenfTF who merged with Precisiincreaft master of $×M lig homes whivh look great but add land and utilities you're up to $=M which again pushes me back to 2x4 stick build as it's 1%+0/th that price. However if you can be comoettive on pricing and make it so se can assure in a week like you day. I'm interested. Look forward to hearing from you or b otge d s familiar with these guys? Thanks BB

Was curious if you know the cost per wall panel opposed to a timber frame wall panel?
@RidgeLife
@RidgeLife 4 ай бұрын
I hear it’s about 10% more but you have to account for not having labor to insulate or install electical boxes after that so can be close!

@@RidgeLife I agree at approximately 10% more that is easily recovered. I’m looking forward to watching the installation. I will be looking at the links you provided also. Thank you
