Hey Lash Artists! Today we will be going over a topic valuable for those just thinking about lashing and the veterans who need a little push to get their business back on track. I outlined here every step I have used and have encouraged others to use, in order to succeed.
Hope you enjoy 💕
1.Find a Lash Training Facility
Do your research when choosing a lash training facility. Ask people who are already working as lash artists what lash training they did and try to find as much feedback about the course as possible. There are quite a few lash techs who have told us our free education is better than the training they paid thousands of dollars for... So watch out and do your homework!
2. What Training to Choose?
Train in classic lashes first. Of course you will want to offer everything eventually, but baby steps is key. Learn one thing at a time and start with classic lashes! Also online resources are great because you will have access forever.
3. The Law
Regulations are IMPORTANT. Do not ignore this part of the lash business or you could find yourself in trouble down the road. I will link a generic website for regulations here. Though you need to do your own research for your area, stay within the guidelines of your area!

4. Budgeting
First you need to decide if you will work from home or from a lash salon. When working from home you will make a lot more money, yet the upfront expenses will be much higher. Paying for all your equipment wont be cheap, so make sure you price everything out before you start. On the other hand working at a salon will help you build a clientele and will be much less stressful at the start. Salons are a great place to learn and grow!

Use this list to estimate the cost of starting from scratch, don't forget to add in the cost of your course. Here is most of the equipment you will need for your business:
Lash Supplies (Minimum you need):
- Lash Adhesive/Glue 5ml
- Classes Lashes: C and D curl .15mm (Mixed trays are great)
- Remover
- Micro-Swab Applicator
- Primer
- Air Blower
- Maskara Wands
- Under Eye Pads
- Tweezers
- Acetone (for cleaning tools)
Extra Home Supplies:
- Lash Bag
- Adjustable Lash Table
- Pillows and Blankets
- Swivel Chair with Wheels
- Trolley
*MUST* A proper Lash Light
You can purchase most of the tools and equipment on this list from www.LostArtistryLash.com
5. How to Get Lash Clients
Lash everyone and anyone who will let you get close to their face. I started by offering free lashes to cashiers in grocery stores to build my portfolio and doing lashes on my friends and family. The section below is the second part of growing your business. For more advanced marketing techniques you can check out our book at the link below. It gives all the techniques I used to go from Lashing on my Mother in Laws Couch to running the brand you see today.

6. Showcasing your Work
Building a portfolio benefits you enormously. The most important being that your clients will see your work and trust you when you show them they aren't the first... Have a dedicated instagram and facebook, and post OFTEN. Doing this will make you look professional and also help your potential clients gain trust. When you first start out you can also post on your personal FaceBook to get the word out that your lashing!
7. Income Potential!!
This is the exciting one! Prices can vary massively, so do your market research. In Canada the prices in Toronto are outrageously high for instance, while other parts of the country are quite low.
For this example I will use averages for product costs, time to lash, and cost to the client. You will see quickly that by charging a little more and becoming a little faster you can make WAY more per hour.
CLASSIC SET
Product Cost ------- 15$
Time for Set --------- 2 hours
Cost for Client ----- 100$
Profit ------------------- 85$
Dollars Per Hour - 42.5$
**all prices in Canadian Dollars
