1. if it's your first time getting acrylic or gel nails...get them in any shape you want, and color you want or like. They are going to be on you. If you like hot pink nails...you rock those nails and drive it like you stole it. 2. If they are using a lamp for acrylic nails it's gel. Not acrylic. Acrylic is made with liquid monomer, and powder. 3. It shouldn't hurt. 4. If you have any questions or concerns you can definitely feel free to ask your nail tech. 5. Don't rip them off, soak them. 6. Make sure you go to a clean, up to code salon, and stay away from chop shops. We get what we pay for.

nail tech here. I'm 6 mins in to video and what you're describing doesn't sound like acrylic nails? it sounds like gel. If the gel hurts then you need to tell your tech as you are experiencing "heat spike" your tech can "flash cure" before fully curing and this should reduce/eliminate the pain. If you are experiencing pain on the skin around your nail then your tech has not applied the gel or gel colour neatly and needs to clean up before telling you to place your hand in the lamp. communicate with your techs guys! you shouldn't feel any pain at any time xxx

Stiletto and almond are my fav shapes. They’re not harder to have because of the shape, it’s just based on the length. I think any longer nail can be tricky if they’re very long, regardless of shape. Either way it just takes some getting used to 👍🏼 Side note: stiletto nails are AWESOME back scratchers! 😉

girl if your nails are hurting when theyre getting done then they arent doing them properly. they are 110% NEVER EVER meant to hurt! bleeding is never meant to happen either

I had the same problem with concealer under my eyes and acrylic nails the secret is to bend your finger and use your knuckle part of your finger to get face cream out of their jars and to put concealer under your eyes 👍 hope this helps you as it does me 🌹x😉

Pointy/stiletto/claw are my favorites! They scratch so bomb, easy to move round with, and great for detail pulling.

Btw "claw" is called stiletto

Cutting cuticles is not okay, never let them cut your cuticles, tell her to pull them. They put alcohol on your nails to sanitize, they put on cuticle oil, then more alcohol to get the oils off. The nail tech prob cut you with a carbine bit and she should be using a safety bit at the top of your nails. I do my nails myself so.. I pay nothing so that's super inexpensive for me.

i personally like coffin and stilettos but when i get overlay on my grown out nails i get square . i have stilettos on right now because i can type faster and better when them and i never get them super point i kindof round it a bit at the tip for safety? lol but for my colors. i always get mood gel colors or gel glitters cause i feel the color last longer and holds the nail shape together. and protip try to go to the same shop or person that you feel comfortable around and does them how you want.

I got the almond the first time, they were kinda long (longer than the pic you showed) and honestly I fell in love with them. I got them purple and blue with glitter and I had them for about a month and a week😂

I’m 14 I go every other week to get my acrylics filled. When you go to a nice place it’s a very pleasant experience! I have never felt any pain, but it can happen with the chemicals in the polish. But when getting acrylics you need to make sure you go to a very well rated place!

I got gel square nails in Russian navy yesterday for my first time and it’s so hard even though they’re not that long

Really the best advice is to do your research on the nail shops and make sure that you get an expert in the business and make sure that your really ready to get them and take care of them and if you start with naturally short nails you need to go with just a touch longer tip because you have a easier time knocking them off or having sore fingers if you get long nails to start with not being used to them and lastly you need to realize it can be an expense to maintain.

I went to the salon for my first time in my life to get acrylic nails, and I went with stiletto nails in a simple black. They are really easy to manage. If you don’t think so, then you don’t have a whole lot of experience with nails. If you want to practice, then get cheap stick on stiletto nails and you get used to them really fast, I like them because they look sexy, and fierce, they are beautiful. And they shouldn’t be that sharp unless either you ask for them to be, or you’re professional didn’t file them down enough. You can still soften them up a bit when you go home so it’s not that big of a deal. I still have my stiletto nails, have had them for a few weeks, and they’re amazing, fake nails do tend to bug me after awhile, but I really haven’t gone thru that yet. Except for try to put on a necklace, that shïts hard. But they’re still really comfortable and in well good shape, and my nails aren’t even chipped

I’m able to open cans, but I personally believe it makes the nails not last as long, so I’ve stopped and used things like butter knives.

I've never gotten acrylics (though I love these videos) but I am fortunate to have long strong nails. I just do gel. My fave shapes are the ones you hate. lol. Almond and claws. To me, there is something sexy about them. But you're right, the tips break off faster. I do want to try coffin

Haha no one likes pushing cuticles back, but it has to be done. 🖤 the pain you feel in a heat spike, it your tech does your gel too thick or over files your nails... it will heat up! You said acrylic when you were talking about gel too so I think you got confused :) unless you had acrylic with gel polish? But I've never known that to heat spike

I just got to my nails done yesterday and my shape was almond. My friend has an almond shape and I loved them

PS I’ve had multiple gel manicures and the LED only hurt once, someone below mentioned that it’s rare and has a name. It felt like fire, I pulled my hand out immediately and it was fine.

My question is do you tell them how long you want them?

I bought a $16 kit on amazon with all the supplies for many acrylic manicures, and that's cheaper than getting one manicure. It's easy once you get the hang of it, and I really recommend that instead of paying a lot for one manicure.

How much do acrylics cost

Acrylics shouldn't be painful, it doses the depend on all the things she said it depends on if your nail tech is good or bad at this! But in my pint of view her nail salon isn't good because it shouldn't hurt, it shouldn't bleed, and your acrylics shouldn't be thick, if you look at hers they are thick! And uneven!!!!

I’m 12, almost 13 and I just got acrylic nails yesterday, I got the shape you like, square. I got them pretty short, and I like them short. I’m glad I made that choice because I can’t even grab things without them feeling uncomfortable, lol. Can’t imagine having long fake nails. 😂 just have to get used to them

Square nails look so tacky on me because I've got short fingers, that are pretty wide too. Rounded/almond is always better for me. I've still never gotten them done professionally- I've only done pressons myself. But I agree that a neutral colour is best first. My go-to is a dark neutral brown and it always gets the most compliments!

I went to my nail salon that I trust and always go to.i don't know if the owner who btw was known to be really good at nails was tired or had other people waiting but he cut me a little while buffing my nails,(I think that's what it's called and then when he filed my nails he was soooooo harsh on them Then he made one hand totally different length than the other and one of my thumbs looks like a short square and the other is way longer and half like triangle and I don't even know now my nails herr and they don't even look that good Great wasted $70 what do I do now I kind of want to get them off and go somewhere else with her do a better job but that's a waste of money especially because of only had them on for a day

I'm 16 and did my nails for the first time and I got long stiletto shape and I love the way they look I don't think it makes a difference what shape they are for the first time but true about the concealer ps not worth going to the salon when you can do it urself
