Join me as I demonstrate how to plant Allium bulbs in pots, containers, beds, and borders. I shows you how to "plant up" in pots, and "plant down" for existing planted containers/beds/boarders.
What tool to use??? I talk about the best tools for different situations and demonstrate how to use a bulb planter, planting trowel, transplanting trowel, and dibber.

Thanks for the question, the mesh is to stop squirrels 🐿️ digging up the bulbs.

When do they get put outside, are they frost proof?

The bulbs are frost hardy in all soil/compost. The leaves will normally only start emerging after the last of any heavy frosts. So they can go outside in winter.

Thought you were going to show planting alliums in the borders and bed…thus you YT title. Was hoping to see what other types of plants you would be planting the bulbs around. Did you do a video on what they looked like when they bloomed in the pots?

Hi. Thanks for the comment. The planting is beds and borders method is demonstrated from 5 minutes 20 seconds on the video. I had to demonstrate it in a pot due to ground conditions at time of filming, but hopefully we can shoot a video planting in boarders this year which sounds exactly what you are looking for. I’m sorry I couldn’t find any images or videos of these pots when they were in flower but this is where I got the bulbs from and they have great photos: tidd.ly/464E5xo
