This is an UPDATED version of my 2021 video on what you need to know to break into to quant trading as a quant trader. In this video I include an additional ONLINE resource that wasn't available back in 2021, as well as go through a sample interview problem with you. I also include 5 books, two of which are familiar and three or which are new and more applicable to the skills you need to develop in 2024. These resorces will make sure you are interview ready for any junior quant trader role. I also go over how to answer quant trader interview qestions with an example from quantguide.io

I solved the problem. At first I thought I need to use derivatives and integrals, but I realised I was thinking too much and that with a more simple approach I could find it. My approach was to find the expression of the river in terms of time and lenght of the river. After I add this speed with the speed of the person in the second situation (3 feets per second) to make it equal to the total speed which is the length of the river over 4. I got : x/6 + 3 = x/4 and I found x = 36 feets. Anyways, the video was very interesting!

DICE PROBLEM SOLVED We roll a dice until we get a 6. What is the expected number of rolls until we do, given that we roll a 6 before we roll a 5? Note that rolling {1, 2, 3, 4} does not impact the outcome of the game. rolling {5} or {6} immediately end the game in failure or success respectively. We roll until we get a 5 or a 6, which has probability 1/3 of happening. The expected number of rolls is 3. Note that the outcome of a decisive roll is always 6 because we delete any sequences which roll a 5! Therefore the expected number of rolls for the entire game is 3.

Cj, can you make a video detailing the difference between a quant trader and a quant researcher and also how these roles differ from firm to firm. Given that some almost fully systematic trading firms have no trader roles as such while others like jane street have a lot of human intervention and really value their traders but also have researchers. Ik titles can differ from firm to firm but the work and skill they bring to the table i would guess are needed by all successful quant firms. Can u discuss career progression for both too. Thanks.

Welp, I'm not really sure of that. Most of the strategies that quants use, need a lot of capital and a lot of volume as well. If you've got that kinda money at your disposal for personal trading, then you're better off starting a fund. I could be wrong, since I'm just an intern. But that looked like the case so far
