everything you've ever done and said aka Broken In. I wrote this after a night out at The Moorbrook in Preston. It was the kind of pub where you knocked at the back window around 1am and stayed until 4am. It was full of magic and people to love, once you were in. It's been refurbished now and does great pizzas. It's still a great place for musicians to hang out and play.
That night when I tried to leave I opened the door to the broom cupboard before finding my way out. I walked home to Avenham in the pouring rain. Once in my flat I crawled about on the floor for a while before finding my bed.
The song is about someone but it's also about the universal joke on us. Tyring hard for a better life but not knowing how to get it. It kind of makes me smile. Maybe you feel the same way?
