That's actually so brilliant! I learned perspective the old fashioned way with the horizon line... this visual makes so much more sense to my brain, especially for smaller objects! Of course over the years, I just learned how to do this(instinctually, and with experience i guess?)...but had this been the 101 instead of that terrible old narrative, I can't imagine how much faster I would have progressed.

I love that you focus on the practice and the creativity and practical application. My art teacher MADE us use rulers/straight edges to line up a point then to make that point into lines that go to the edges of the paper and all the annoying extra line that you ended up erasing or overlapping finished lines, the technical aspect of it to make it perfect and "right" was ridiculous. I understand why practical application is important but I don't want to spend forever making the line look perfectly like his and hers because we all did it the same annoying way with all the erasing.

You are so helpful! I always get anxious before I draw, mainly because I don’t want to deal with mistakes. It’s not that I want a perfect drawing, it’s that I get angry at myself over one erasable mistake. You’ve taught me that is okay to make mistakes in art, and I’m forever grateful. I pushed myself and drew a masterpiece. Thankyou !

There's nothing wrong with seeing &/or depicting things differently. Your art may be exactly what someone else needs to see. If all art had the same look, it would fail to be interesting. In fact, if everything looked the same, the universe would be a very boring place.

When I was a kid I had a book which I didn't enjoy reading, but I could stare at water-colored paintings for hours. All those little details and emphasises, as different lights gently strike the objects. It's one of the only experiences I enjoy just imagining and observing the details. So your paintings really get me the same sensation, and I'm now a fan :)

A useful hack on how to start • first learn from squares, the basics • then go ahead on rectangles, since it's a bit harder • learn from 3d • then you can go ahead to other shapes. For head shapes, this hack is actually pretty useful. It's all about perspective, yea this shows that.

I learned using three point perspective. Basically, you put down a point and draw your shape in a different spot. Then, you connect each corner of the shape to the point. And then, you cut off the shape where you want it to end using lines parallel to the sides of the shape.
