Huh, I hadn't realized how at the start of the last timeline she consistently says "Kaname Madoka", then around episode 8ish as she starts losing her cool and seeing everything go badly she starts saying "Madoka!"

Man Chiwa Saito surely does a nice job. You can definitely feel the emotion behind each 'Madoka' even if its kuudere/cold Homura.

it's interesting how, in the primary timeline, she goes from "kaname madoka" to "madoka!" as she gets more stressed, but even when she's superficially back as her early-timeline transfer student self (who *never* says madoka, just "kaname-san") in rebellion, she still only calls madoka by her given name. post-apotheosis, however, she goes through an erratic mix of "kaname-san", "kaname madoka", and "madoka-sans", sort of vacillating wildly between levels of formality and familiarity. it's neat.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves that scene for Homura. She starts out awkward moments before and ends in a way that you can tell Madoka is a steadying presence for her, and she says it so affectionately.

Oh, that is the Madoka runes font, but it's actually called MadokaLetters. I got it from the Madoka Magica wiki under the Deciphering the runes page.

@@esthererica7406 From another series. That Homura had her name changed in English though, so most people don't think of her as Homura. (I only call her Homura when directly comparing with Akemi.) As to what Homura I was referring to, she happens to be an emerald cross rather than an amethyst diamond. (Why are they both personified gemstones? I don't know.)
