He did not help Goku because he cared. He stated he needed Cakorot to heal up and help him beat Frieza. He was gonna kill Gohan and killing too on Namek until the Ginyu force popped up. Then he had to help them in order to survive fighting them.

I feel like Vegeta and Goku have the strongest bond in the entire series. They are the only sayians making each other understand each other like brothers. They share the same passions no one else tends to have, giving each other someone to relate to. They have achieved the same life style making them easily closer friends. And they have survived multiple world ending threats together like soldiers from a war. They share many connections that would make a duo consider themselves to be family.

Yeah the first couple times is purely for utilitarian reasons. I'm rewatching DBZ now and Vegeta pretty overtly doesn't care about Goku at all yet, he hasn't had a reason to personally care about him. Vegeta doesn't drop the ""strongest in the universe"" bullshit for quite some time

Pilaf is a literally a rice dish, a piccolo is a musical instrument, raditz, broly, and paragus (I think his name was) are all based on vegetables -Vegeta, Tarble (his “brother”)…it’s always been this way lol, I’ve had no qualms with it.
