At best, in the late 13th century BCE, Israel would have been nothing more than small groups of highland pastoral shepherds, numbering maybe a few hundred in total. The Merneptah Stele was set around 1209 BCE, and names several peoples that were conquered by Egypt in the Arabian peninsula and in Canaan. For the Pharaoh to mention these people, they would have to have been established people with cities and/or fighting armies. Otherwise, it would not enhance the perceived might of the Pharaoh, and would never have been mentioned. Archaeology has, to date, only found evidence of Israel starting to become an established group of ethnic people in the early to mid 12th century BCE. Also worth mentioning is the fact that this is the ONLY ancient mention of Israel found anywhere other than in the bible. Sorry, folks, but facts are facts.

This is an attempt to prove something that has no ground. Archeologists have found no evidence in any of the Bibles claim, including the Old Testament, of the existence of a developed Hebrew community. They were a tribe mostly nomadic like many in the area, probably circling between what is now Syria all the way down to the Arabic desert. Nothing more.
