My new favorite Katatonia song, simply gorgeous

This song is probably about two spies of which one is in love with the other. Their cover gets broken and they are arrested. They have to take a lie detector test and probably get tourtured. One spy is nervous and the other is holding up well. By the end of the song we find out the spy that is telling the story fails the test or is waiting for it still and ends up in jail while the other passes the lie detector test and is free. Their cover is broken they can't be heroes anymore, but he loves her/him and is glad that his love interest is safe and free.

Have you ever thought about the meaning of the lyrics of this song? I`ve been listening to the whole Katatonia discography and aproached this song that absolutely gripped me because of it's lyrics. And the whole song just gave me a picture of what this song is about. Although I think my interpretation may be biased by the fact that I have recently had a very painful breaking up with my girlfriend and I still have very strong feelings for her. I guess this is the beauty of art and Katatonia in particular - you can always interpret it in a way that would reflect your current state. I imagine a situation where the couple is meeting for the last time. And the person from whose perspective the song is written is still greatly in love with the other person, but the latter one is not. 'I hold my breath, and check the time, one minute no collapse' - 1st person is constantly checking time in hopes that it would not pass as quickly as it does during this meeting. 'If you only knew, what I would do for you, One thirty breathing lapse' - 1st person is spinning these thoughts in its` head and counting its` breaths as a measure of time. 'We're going in, my voice is thin, When I tell you to remember' - just before the end of their meeting, they decide to have sex for the last time. 1st person, through veiling and heavy breathing manages to talk in a middle of it. 'That no one will find you, A promise from the heart, If we part, my pulse will guide you through' - as a last resort and out of desperation, 1st person tries to convince the 2nd person that there will be no other person who will understand the second person as well as the first one does. And that even if they will separate, the 2nd person is still going to think about the 1st one and these thoughts and memories will bring the 2nd person motivation to move through life. 'Be still for a moment, Everything depends upon you, If you die I will die too, Once we were heroes, But everything has changed since then, Now they recognize you too' - this may be the 1st persons declaration that he would want to get back to their relationship and that now, everything depends on the 2nd persons' decision, even if it started looking for another person or even has someone in mind that will be a rebound. 'I've stayed too long, something's wrong, You walk out of the picture, I hold my breath, and check the time, One thirty I collapse' - in the heat of the 1st persons` emotional confession and the carnal pleasure, the 1st person notices the 2nd one's eyes drift away and it knows that the 2nd person is not enjoying it and is probably thinking about something else. Due to this emotional shock and amount of sensation, maybe even at the brink of an orgasm, the 1st person passes out. I feel like amongst Katatonia fans (who build one of the best communities I know) this is sort of an epic song or a classic, especially because of the lyrics. Jonas says this whole album is about crime and everything that has to do with it, and in some songs this theme comes out clearer than in others. But if you keep this in mind, the lyrics to this song start to form an image. Some lines in this song indicate a situation in which something is about to happen that can change lives forever, like going to prison ('oh love, will you read the letters I will send to you' 'will they let me out to take the test' and so on) After all these years, they manage to create this intense feeling.

The thing that attracts me in katatonia is not primarily the meanings of the lyrics-maybe its because english isn't my mother language I don't know-but the thing that attracts me is the attitude of the vocals sound and instrumentals. It makes me sad listening it but 2 weeks ago I saw them live, earlier I wasn't so much in to katatonia, only knew few songs, but after the live show I keep listening this song I don't know why. It's both depressive and powerful song, I admit there's no virtuosity in the instrumentals, but this is a fine piece of art and I glad to saw them live. I just wish they could be more alive while playing. The singer was just saying "Thanks" and "Thank you very much" after every song. But my country (Turkey) its a far away from their home, and I heard they've came here really tired so that's ok to me. They're all awesome musicians and didn't know them as a person but I'm sure they are really good fellas.
