For all intents and purposes, you’re essentially a PERFORMER… …do you REALLY want to be just another person to watch the MCU for the first time in regular order that everyone and their mother saw it? Or do you want to be unique and continue watching chronologically? I don’t know about others, but I’ve seen enough “MCU Reactions” in regular release order and could care less to watch someone do that AGAIN for the billionth time in a KZfaq see of a countless amount of reactors. But someone doing something UNIQUE and DIFFERENT? Watching them in their OWN TIMELINE ORDER? Now THAT is something I would watch. If you were watching them on your own, sure whatever release order’s fine. But if you want to have the SAME reactions and SAME viewpoint and SAME understanding and same same same same as every other boring channel, I don’t see that adding anything new after thousands of reactors already offer that. I come here for the DIFFERENT shows and content, not to see another person doing more of the same. I would have been interested to hear someone’s take and feelings on seeing the MCU chronologically as I always wished I could have, but have no interest in just another another.

In the beginning they say that Tony Stark built his first circuit board at the age of four. The most vivid memory I have at that age was watching a black and white TV with my parents full of high anxiety. It was 1969. The first lunar landings were taking place live. I love technology. Glad you enjoyed the movie.

Glad you already know about 2 things to watch for in every MCU movie: 1. The Stan Lee cameo. 2. The end-credit scenes But there's a third thing to watch for: 3. The scene where someone ejects/jumps/falls from an airplane or helicopter. In almost every MCU movie. You saw the pilot eject from the fighter plane in this one. There'll be more like that, in different forms.

This movie was a game changer not just as the beginning of a franchise that would span years but for RDJ’s career. Back then he was less known for his acting and more for his numerous drug scandals so at the time when he was hired to play Tony Stark many people thought is was going to be a disaster now its hard to imagine anyone else in the role.

Debuted in the comics, 60 years ago. Loosely based on industrialist pioneer Howard Hughes. After 45 years of success in other mediums, has his first-ever, live-action box office smash. I know he's got it all. But if I could have one thing from him it would be his genius and that's his superpower. The fact that he has so many suits was enough to really get behind the character's legacy. It did change the game of shared universes and superhero franchises. That post-credit scene was so "off to the races" and we couldn't wait to see what was next. Your in for an amazing journey in this Phase 1 and beyond.

Y'know, it may be hard to believe now, despite having his own animated series being an important part in one of the biggest overarching Marvel comics plotlines... Iron Man wasn't what I would call a Most Valuable Player to Marvel before this movie. Spider Man, the X-Men, Hulk, the Fantastic Four, all had movies beforehand because they were the most valuable and/or popular properties, iirc. And RDJ himself, a big star back in the day, but only getting side parts later as he strugged with addiction for a long time... It was his resurgence, as well. In the comics, Stark actually has some big similarities with RDJ. When I heard about an Iron Man movie being made and found out he was playing Stark, I had a feeling it was going to change things if they let him and Favreau actually do what they want with the movie. Boy was I underestimating that. Lol

Hey Evie, what makes Iron man, Captain America and the entire MCU having such staying power is the depth of thought behind every element in the saga. ---- I love how you thought that the Iron man suit torso light piece was jsut a design element to make it look cool. When in fact it's the catalyst around the entire Iron Man suit technology. ----- Without that Tony would have to walk around with a car battery everywhere to power the suit. ----- It aslo speaks to the depth of the writing from the 60's when the series was created. ------ The creators wanted the comic book stories to be taken as serious as novels. ------ So they made it a point to vet the motivation behind many of the characters and the story arcs taht they go though in order to fulfill their purpose.

Definitely on board with that as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is my favorite show and you absolutely will get sucked in, BUT the MCU movies alone are intimidating enough to take on much less everything else Marvel. So here's a brief guide to help. Disney+ shows like Wandavision and Loki are canon, but if you're interested don't start them until after Endgame as they will have spoilers for the movies. If you skip them, it will affect your understanding of some movies after Endgame. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Agent Carter are debated as to whether they are canon or not. They began as canon, but the story goes that Kevin Feige doesn't care about them and began treating them as separate. However, many things in the show directly connect it, and also rumor has it that the characters are going to continue to appear in future Marvel projects. If you start these, wait until after Avengers to avoid spoilers. But only start them if you're willing to get through 9 combined seasons. If you skip them, it won't hurt your enjoyment of the movies. The Netflix Marvel shows like Daredevil. These are not canon except in a multiverse sense. Watch these if you want a darker, more brutal type of show. Missing these will only mean a few Easter eggs in later movies get missed. That's all. Hope you do watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, but won't hate you if you don't. I'm on board for this MCU ride whatever you decide. You are obviously having fun with them and that's infectious.

Yes, watch after Winter Soldier if you plan on watching nothing but Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D once you start. But I was assuming that if you started, you would keep watching MCU movies too. If you were to do that, you would hit Winter Soldier before you hit spoilers in S.H.I.E.L.D

Clearly, Howard Stark should have known that partnering with a guy named oBADiah was a BAD idea. Absolutely useless trivia that has nothing to do with anything going forward; the actor who plays the male reporter at the press conferences is Patrick O'Connell. Or, as we know him nowadays, Billie Eilish's dad. (Billie was 5 when this came out. I feel so old, lol.) 11:38-41:05 "He's just gonna destroy that door. I don't know what you're thinking." I tend to agree with you here. If they closed the door to slow him, then ran away instead of waiting for him to break through, _that_ I could understand. Timeline wise Agents of SHIELD picks up shortly after the first team up movie (Avengers), then continues alongside the MCU storyline, if you watch them in release order there will be easter eggs in the series about the movies. (sadly though, Stan Lee doesn't make cameos in the series)

Hey, Evie! Welcome to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! "Iron Man" is the kick-off to a spectacular cinematic journey that altered the industry paradigm. The MCU is a series of 20+ interrelated films culminating in a huge 2-part movie event! The movies are all based on Marvel Comics characters who were co-created beginning in 1961 by editor/writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. Unlike other comic universes, the Marvel Universe is set in our world with many of the principals residing in New York City. What is distinctive about the Marvel pantheon is that the characters all have feet of clay; they struggle to measure up to the burden of power. Stan, Jack and artist Don Heck introduced Iron Man in 1963 in the anthology title "Tales of Suspense" expressly modeling the character on Howard Hughes and deliberately going against the anti-establishment grain of the '60's by making him a capitalist arms dealer. Insulated by wealth and ego, the epiphany he experiences and the life-threatening wound he incurs as a result of his captivity made him vulnerable and relatable to a readership predisposed to mistrusting a quintessential captain of industry. Moreover, Tony, in the comics, is also humanized by being an inveterate alcoholic which is barely alluded to in the films. The trick worked and the dichotomy hooked readers. Reframing his captors from Vietnamese Communist guerrillas in the comics to Afghan Islamicist mujahideen, the first Iron Man film adapts Tony's origin and the "Iron Monger" story arc. Iron Man was a second tier Marvel character known famously for his extravagant wealth and his endless struggle with alcoholism. Jon Favreau was an indie writer/director with one mainstream comedy hit, "Elf", under his belt. Robert Downey, Jr. was a respected former Brat Packer whose bankable days were behind him and who was then known more for drug addiction, womanizing and a motor mouth. This film should not have worked. After an aborted attempt at a shared universe with the Hulk in 2003 directed by serious auteur Ang Lee, Marvel threw the dice with Tony Stark and improbably won! It was kismet. Very rarely does an actor so ideally match a role. Downey, Jr. was BORN to play Tony Stark. His arc in the MCU is one of the best character developments I've ever seen in cinema. Remember Yinsen's last words, "Don't waste your life.", because Stark never forgets them. The cast is excellent. To support RDJ, Oscar-winner Jeff Bridges was brought aboard as Obadiah Stane setting a precedent of enlisting top-tier talent for MCU films. Gwyneth Paltrow as Virginia 'Pepper' Potts, Terrence Howard as Lt. Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes, Paul Bettany as disembodied JARVIS and director Jon Favreau himself as Harold 'Happy' Hogan round out the Stark stable. Shaun Toub is affecting as Stark's savior Yinsen and Faran Tahir exudes menace as Ten Rings terrorist Raza. Unflappable Clark Gregg introduces SHIELD as Agent Phil Coulson and Samuel L. Jackson makes his first appearance as Director Nick Fury. Leslie Bibb has a bit part as ambitious journalist Christine Everhart as does Tim Guinee as USAF Major Allen. Blink and you'll miss Nazanin Boniadi of "Homeland" and "The Rings of Power" as a television news correspondent reporting from Gulmira and veteran character actor Bill Smitrovich as a General attending Stark's Jericho demonstration. Former child actor Peter Billingsley from the holiday classic "A Christmas Story" plays the technician chewed out by Stane for being unable to miniaturize the arc reactor. TRIVIA: 1. As a tribute to Howard Hughes, who served as a template for both Howard and Tony Stark, production was based in the former Hughes Company soundstages in Playa Vista. Tony's garage/lab is the area where Hughes assembled the H-4 Hercules airplane aka 'The Spruce Goose'. 2. The original script was discarded right before production began so each day's scenes were improvisationally workshopped between the cast, director and producers just prior to shooting resulting in an indie sensibility which Jeff Bridges has affectionately referred to as "a $200 million student film!" EASTER EGGS: 1. The Ten Rings terrorist organization refers to the ten alien rings worn by Stark's traditional comic book nemesis, The Mandarin. 2. Raza, leader of the terror cell, is named after but bears no resemblance to a cyborg space pirate from the comics who is part of a crew of interstellar corsairs and X-Men allies known as the Starjammers. 3. JARVIS is an acronym for 'Just A Rather Very Intelligent System'! The namesake for Tony's operating system is the human butler who looked after him as a child and who serves the Avengers in the comics: Edwin Jarvis. Mr. Jarvis plays a significant role in the TV series "Agent Carter" portrayed by James D'Arcy. 4. If viewed chronologically, then these are the second appearances of Coulson and Fury in the saga. CAMEO: 1. Co-creator STAN LEE shows up in every Marvel movie for a Hitchcock-style CAMEO! In "Iron Man", he's the elderly gent in the smoking jacket with his arms around two nubile blondes who gets mistaken for Hugh Hefner by Tony on the red carpet! Lol. END-CREDIT SCENE: 1. Almost all Marvel movies have multiple bonus scenes during and after the credits. The "Iron Man" end-credit scene shows Nick Fury approach Tony Stark about the Avenger Initiative. The next chronological stop in the MCU is "Iron Man 2" and its companion One-Shot "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer" found on DPlus.

Tony Stark was originally wounded in Vietnam, where he was an Army Sergeant, and he devised the electromagnet idea himself. Producers employed a technique called "retcon" to make Tony already wealthy, noncombatant, and a long established defense contractor in the modern time era. This creates a significant question regarding how old Stark actually is, since his father is established as a defense contractor in the early 1940s. Speaking of age, its often hard to tell when these movies fit on a timeline, and release order does not necessarily mean chronological order. Movies released later may actually happen before movies earlier in the release order.

Hey EVie, I hope you understand that very few large movie studios would have ever taken a chance on making a side character super hero like Iron Man before. Many had tried and failed. I gues the Visual effects were not there as yet. ---- Just know that if Iron Man had flopped then none of the 22 MCU movie saga would not have happened. The same also happened with "Guardians f the Galaxy". ---- So tremendous respect has to go to the Marvel team and John Favreau, his passion and vision has bore fruit time and time again from "Iron Man", to " Mandalorian", to Jungle Book". ----- His movie-making prowess has become quite impressive over the years. ---- Just know that success in Hollywood is never guaranteed.

Most of the dialog was ad-libbed or written on set. The reference to Burger King was deliberate. RDJ says he was having a BK cheeseburger, and couldn't enjoy it. It was his "rock bottom" moment, so for him a BK cheeseburger is symbolic of RDJ's rebirth, as well as signaling Tony's rebirth. Stane, by the way, acted responsibly by trying to lock Tony out. A publicly traded company has a fiduciary responsibility to the stockholders, and a 40+ point drop is _not_ responsible. Assassinating him, on the other hand, not so good. 🤷‍♂ They followed the origin pretty well, except it was first set in Vietnam. The engineer Stane yelled at was the kid in A Christmas Story. Little bit that most folks seem to miss: "I was doing a piece for Vanity Fair," referring to the reporter Christine. If you go back and watch the intro again, it mentions Tony built his first robot at 14. That's DUMM-E, which is his actual name. He does love the fire extinguisher!

Hey, Evie! FIVE TIPS: 1. Watch the credits all the way through so you don't miss END-CREDIT SCENES! You nailed this one right off! 2. Point out Marvel Universe co-creator STAN LEE! Stan cameos in most Marvel movies like Hitchcock and it's fun to spot him! He was the dapper elderly gent mistaken for Hugh Hefner by Tony on the red carpet! 3. Include the ONE-SHOTS! There are five shorts called One-Shots associated with five of the movies in Phase 1. They are canonical and available on DP. The one paired with "Captain America: The First Avenger" is the Agent Carter One-Shot which can alternatively be seen as a coda to the first 8-episode Season of the "Agent Carter" series. 4. Take breaks to incorporate NON-MCU Marvel movies and series as they, too, get merged into the MCU narrative. These include 13 X-Men movies, 6 Spider-Man movies, 2 Venom movies, 1 Hulk movie and Netflix Daredevil. 5. If you know very little about the Hulk, I highly recommend seeing Ang Lee's 2003 "Hulk" as it covers the ORIGIN of the Hulk whereas the MCU film doesn't. The movie is NON-CANON pre-dating the MCU but it has a great cast, director, score and comic accurate sequences seen in no other MCU film in which the Hulk appears. It even ENDS where the MCU "Incredible Hulk" BEGINS!!! It was supposed to be the STARTING POINT for the MCU initially but it failed to gain traction at the box office because audiences were not accustomed to a serious approach to superhero films at the time. Ang Lee is an Oscar-winning director responsible for such films as "Eat Drink Man Woman", "Sense and Sensibility", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "Ride with the Devil", "Brokeback Mountain", "Life of Pi" and "Gemini Man". RECOMMENDED SEQUENCE FOR PHASE 1: 0. (HULK (2003)) [OPTIONAL proto-MCU Hulk origin] 1. IRON MAN 2. IRON MAN 2 + A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer One-Shot 3. THE INCREDIBLE HULK + The Consultant One-Shot 4. THOR 5. CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER + Agent Carter One-Shot 6. THE AVENGERS + Item 47 One-Shot 7. (Agent Carter: Season 1 + Agent Carter One-Shot) [OPTIONAL Interphase Interlude]

Hey Evie, you are so cute with your seaonal Iron Man suit decor for every season. I love it. Never thought of it like that but seeing movie from different perspectives is always fun. ---- Now can we get back to War mongering and universal destruction. Ha

you mentioned you know about the shield series (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D). many will say don't watch, or do watch it's kind of split but i think majority will say don't especially since it lost it's relevance to the MCU, but whether you do or don't it's best to not even consider watching until after you see the first avengers.

Don't forget the Increadible Hulk film. Technically it's a part of the MCU.

N'ah, imo she's fine to skip that one. Movie's nothing special, and she's not really missing out on anything, not even the same actor, and his story from that film doesn't really play into the rest of the MCU. Just my opinion, of course.

When the explosion went off after his Humvee was attacked, tiny shards of metal got blown into Tony's bloodstream (shrapnel). Since metal is sharp, if it made it into his heart, it would cut it up, killing him. His chest reactor acts like a magnet to keep the shards stuck in one spot so they can't enter his heart.

Did you say every 3rd Friday? It’s going to be a long journey. :) No problem, although if they’re released quickly on Patreon and slowly on KZfaq just be aware that it’s less likely to get comments on KZfaq once you get way too far ahead in your watching.

You really should start agents of shield and agent carter after avengers. The first season is a grind but picks up after that. Since one of the characters may be on its way to the mcu, might be good for you to get to know them.
