This was definitely one of the best horror movie remakes ever made!

along with TCM 2003 and Dawn of the Dead 2004 this is an absolute monster of a remake, just brilliant on so many levels

Jane Levy is such an underrated actress. She's definitely a modern scream queen in my opinion. Flawless performance in this incredible movie.

I love this remake. I think Fede Alvarez did everything he could to respect what Sam Raimi created, paying much homage without, in my opinion, treading too heavily on the story Raimi created. The scares are great, the gore is plenty as it should be in Evil Dead, and there are some absolutely terrifying scenes. I think their goal was to make an Evil Dead movie without all the camp and slapstick, just the real horror and I think they really succeeded!

Either way, I love this remake!

Here's the crazy thing... I love horror movies and I can usually handle any kind of gore, but this move was tough to watch at times

Man I have always loved this movie. I think they did a good job updating it, while also paying tribute to each of the originals. Sure, it's lacking the over the top humor of the originals, but there's enough of it to be satisfying, and you kind of realize at some point that it seems to be more of a "this is what the original would have been like if they'd had the budget" kinda remake. It's not a perfect film, but it is a perfect horror popcorn flick. Gory af too, I remember my girlfriend in the theaters turning her head majority of the movie haha

What did we learn from this remake? Not to open books made of human skin and not to go to creepy cabins in the middle of nowhere! Solid, terrifying movie though
